"You won't involve the police Mr Macaulay!" I heard Kimberly's dad say. I was hiding at the window eves dropping their conversation.
"It's a family affair." Kevin's mom said calmly. "Right kids?"
"Yes." Kevin and Kimberly replied quickly, in chorus.

“The school has a reputation,” the principal protested, his voice trembling.
“We'll protect that reputation, Mr. Macaulay,” Kimberly's dad responded smoothly. “Nothing happened. No one saw anything. It’s a junior high, for crying out loud. Things like this happen. The kids will forget all of this by the next new movie or video game.”
The office went silent for a long moment. My heart pounded in my chest. Could they have caught me? I pressed myself tighter against the wall, holding my breath.
