章 28: Disappearance
Wearing dark cloaks covering their body, Lori, Crocodile, and Katakuri were heading towards the palace. Looking around him, Lori realized that there is a huge change that happened in the capital since he left.
The lively and bustling streets were covered in a gloomy air as the people were scared to go out of their homes. The market which was always full of people has only several stalls open and from their expression, you could see that their business is not doing well.
"Hmm?" because the three were not really hiding. They were spotted by a group of patrolling guards.
"You three covering yourselves with cloaks are very suspicious. Take them off right now!" a guard with indifferent expression shouted at them. Behind the guard, there were two other guards glaring at them.
Seeing that the tree wasn't responding to him. The guard who just speaks becomes irritated and said to the two behind him, "Capture the three of them, I suspect that they were the thieves that roam around the area recently"
Of course what the guard said calling them thieves was just an excuse. He was a guard of the Manniger Family and he was patrolling a large area in this part of the city. Basically, he was ordered to capture anyone who he sees suspicious. If he can do his job well, then there is a chance that he would be rewarded.
The two guards hearing the order walks forward with a taunting smile in their face. They stretch their hands to take off the hood covering the faces of the three in front of them. However, their expressions suddenly change and their hands stopped.
Crocodile has his hands on the neck of one guard and his body started to dry up as all he sucks all the moisture from the guard.
The other guard that went forward was more unfortunate. Because his head was blasted by a single punch from Katakuri.
"Y...you, you killed them. The Manniger Family won't let you go!" the remaining guard was stunned seeing his two companions die. He stumbles in the ground as he tries to back away. His face was pale white as fear cover his whole body.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere!"
While the guard was planning to escape, his body was pierced by multiple blasts of air. It tears through his flesh as multiple bloody holes appeared in his body. Blood splattered in the ground as the lifeless body of the guard falls heavily.
After killing the three, Lori didn't bother to hide their bodies. He wanted someone to discover what happened here and use that moment when they were investigating the incident to their advantage.
Royal Palace
Bam!
The door of the throne room suddenly opens and a guard breathing heavily hurriedly kneels in front.
"Y...your Majesty," the guard said with a trembling voice.
The queen was dissatisfied with the actions of the guard. But seeing his expression, she knew that there must be something important that happened.
"What is it? Why are you so anxious?" the queen said while twirling a glass of wine in jer hands.
"B...b...bad news. The king is gone!" the guard lowered his head scared of what might happen to him. Earlier, they noticed that the force preventing them from entering the room where the king is sleeping disappear. They immediately went inside to see the situation. However, when they went inside, the room was empty. Concubine Selena and the king was nowhere to be found. Knowing that this is a huge incident, he immediately reported it to the queen.
"What!" the queen flash through her seat and immediately appear in front of the guard with anger covering her face. Her eyes were cold and her slender hand was directly gripping the neck of the guard.
'How can they disappear? The king is poisoned and wouldn't be able to move as he was unconscious. While that slut Selena after days of using her mana, she definitely didn't have enough left in her body to escape' the queen narrowed her eyes as she throws the guard on the ground. Murderous intent appears in her eyes as she coldly speaks, "Search the whole palace and capital to look for that slut Selena and the king. Make sure you left no stones unturned, and arrest everyone who was acting suspiciously. Whoever can find them will be rewarded an item of choice from the treasury!"
The guard immediately runs away after hearing the command. He thought that his life will be lost if he stayed any longer in the throne room.
Queen Melissa slumps heavily on her throne. Her bountiful chest was moving up and down as she grips her hands tightly. With the disappearance of the king, their plans will definitely be affected. Because even when the king was unconscious, she was still a substitute and not the true leader of the kingdom. Only with the king dying that the throne will officially be theirs.
"Melissa what really happened?" wearing a golden robe, Han Goldling enters the throne room. On his way, he saw that the soldiers were frantically searching everywhere. So he immediately quickens his pace to ask his daughter.
Seeing the arrival of her father, the queen immediately tells him what happened.
When Han Goldling heard what happen, his face turned dark and strong pressure comes out from his body. He suddenly thought of something and a deep murderous intent covered his face, "I will take the guards and go to that old bastard home. He is the only one I can think of doing this!"
While Lori's group was walking in the capital. They were immediately surrounded by a huge group of soldiers with their weapons drawn.
"Young master, there seems to have some major event that happened in the capital. I could feel that there are numerous soldiers around that look like they were looking for something, or someone" Katakuri said under the cover of his hooded cloak.
"That looks like the case" his eyes then coldly sweeps to the soldiers around and said, "Then we must hurry. Kill them all!"
Lori's voice wasn't loud, but the soldiers around them still heard his words. They immediately get angry when they heard Lori's arrogant words. One soldier couldn't take it and runs forward with his sword swinging down.
However, his move was too slow and Lori easily dodges the attack. After that, Lori took a short dagger under his cloak and slash towards the soldier's neck. A crimson line appears from the soldier's neck and his head was quickly separated from his body.
The soldiers surrounding them saw that one of them was killed and they all charge forward.
"They must know something about the disappearance. Just cut their hands and bring them to the prison and interrogate them" a soldier who looks like the leader of the group said as he also attacks.
Lori heard the man's voice and said, "Aside from that man, all kill"
When Lori finished speaking, the two beside him immediately disappears. After that, the area was filled with cries and shout as the soldiers die one after the other.
The leader of the soldiers saw the scene knew that he's f*cked up. He didn't expect that the three suspicious people they've stop was experts. He can only grit his teeth as he couldn't do anything in front of them.
In just a few seconds, all the soldiers except their leader were all killed by the two. Lori walks toward the remaining soldier and said, "Tell me about the disappearance that you just said"
