The morning light crept into Lian Qiang's room, a gentle reminder of the new day. Lying on her bed, she pondered about getting her equipment from her apartment. She also thought if she could let Zhang Jin come with her but he shouldn't let other people know about it. This is part of their plan and it was certainly confidential. Even though this plan was for him, she can't tell him about it.
She forgot to even tell it to the chief about that masked man. She thought about his appearance through her mind. Tried her best that she won't forget every detail that she already has.
After blowing a huge sigh, she instantly prepared herself to go to her place she misses a lot and gets the things she could use for this mission. Those tools were essential for her job, and she needed them close, especially if she was to protect Zhang Jin effectively because of the recent event that happened to them especially to her.
She blamed herself because the masked man was after him and she didn't bring her own gun. Now is her time to get ready from it. Making sure everything is complete even her mentality should be prepared for everything to happen.
She was worrying about, 'What if she didn't see that masked man? And she didn't notice him after them, especially after Zhang Jin?,' she asked herself. Making up her mind, she went to Zhang Jin's room. "I need you to stay inside today. I have some important work to handle," she instructed.
Zhang Jin raised an eyebrow, "Where are you going?"
"It's... something I need to sort out," she said evasively. He could sense she wasn't giving him the full picture but decided to trust her judgment.
As she exited the mansion, the day's task weighed on her. Retrieving her gear was essential, but leaving Zhang Jin unguarded made her anxious. But since she already warned him not to leave inside the mansion, she's relieved.
She used the usual car they were riding in whenever they were going. She doesn't need to ask about it because Mr. Zhang already entrusted her with all the things she needs to protect Zhang Jin.
She got into the car and glanced at the young man's bedroom window, making sure he was there and saw him through the transparent window. When she realized that he was looking at her from the inside, left her dumbfounded for a second.
She doesn't know why this guy is making her nervous whenever he's staring at her. But she didn't think about that anymore and continued to get inside the car. She drove the car to wherever her apartment was. The car was driven away. She played loud noises of music on her dashboard, forgetting the mission for a couple of minutes.
After spending a couple of minutes driving to her place, the old apartment she was living in that was given by the government, appeared to her. She glanced at her apartment for a second and tried to scan it for a moment.
After two weeks, she knew this place misses her a lot but for now she needs to fulfill her duty first.
She quickly grabbed her keys out of her pocket of her leather jacket and opened the door of her apartment. She went upstairs to come inside of her room searching for the things she needed.
The moment Lian Qiang stepped into her room, an uncomfortable chill ran down her spine. Her eyes darted around, instinctively searching for the source of her unease. And then she spotted it.
A spider, its black body glistening under the room's dim light, sat confidently in the middle of its freshly spun web.
Her heart raced, and her fingers twitched with a mix of fear and disgust. Despite all the challenges she faced in her line of work, this tiny creature was her undeniable nemesis. She took a cautious step back, her eyes never leaving the spider, a silent battle of wills taking place in the confines of that room.
Pushing down her rising discomfort, Lian Qiang carefully approached the spider. Using a piece of paper and a glass, she gently trapped the creature. Holding it at arm's length, she quickly made her way to the window, letting the spider out into the open.
As it scurried away, Lian Qiang closed the window and leaned against the wall, letting out a long sigh of relief. The room suddenly felt lighter, and she chuckled at herself. For someone who faced much greater threats in life, it was amusing how a tiny spider could provoke such a reaction in her.
After that, she immediately tried to find all her equipment for her job.
Lian Qiang approached her cabinet, her steps determined. Sliding the door open, she began to sift through her belongings. Among neatly folded clothes and some scattered personal items, she felt the cool, familiar touch of metal. Pulling it out, she examined her gun, ensuring it was still in good condition.
She remembered keeping two guns, but decided to leave one safely tucked inside the cabinet for emergencies. Grabbing a few more pieces of clothing, she quickly packed them into her backpack. The spider incident had shaken her a bit, but now she was back to her mission-focused self, ready for whatever came next.
Lian Qiang had always lived by one principle, always be prepared. As she packed her things, ensuring each item was placed meticulously, she reminded herself of this principle. Whether it was a sudden mission or an unexpected turn of events, she knew the importance of being ready.
In her line of work, hesitation could mean danger or even death. And she wasn't one to take risks. Her belongings, especially her weapons, were her lifelines, and she treated them with respect and care. With everything packed and ready, she felt a renewed sense of confidence. Whatever lay ahead, Lian Qiang was ready to face it.
