"Good choice. Now, if only you had decided that earlier, you would not have had to endure all that pain."

The prisoner's head drooped. His wet and matted hair plastered to his face and obscured his expression. The puddles around him were dark with blood. He had no fight left in him.

"Now, answer honestly. Was the revolt of Hanyao instigated on purpose?" Zhou Xun asked sharply.

"Yes." The prisoner's voice was hoarse.

"Why?"

"To get the peasants to hate the crown prince," the prisoner said. "To cause a riot and storm the crown prince's manor."

Wei Shuqin narrowed his eyes. "Why would you do such a thing? What is the real purpose?"
