My name is Ann Le Sidenote: (It's made up guysss)
So yeah...Ummm
Let's just start from the beginning.
Sunday 6th Sept 2012
Oh. My. God. Only 2 days until the first day of year 12 and I have no idea what is going to happen!!!
Before we get into that...
You might be wondering who I am, where I am etc. so I will give you some background info.
I recently moved here with my younger sister, Lily 9, to Shanghai, China all the way from England. I was a small (160cm) girl, dark long brown hair and black eyes with light golden skin.
My sister looked pretty much like me, but she had short hair and hazel eyes. We were half English (mild English accent), one quarter French and one quarter Spanish. What came to our advantage was that we knew all 3 languages fluently, perfect for moving to an Asian country.
I wanted to qualify in the business sector therefore all of these would come to my advantage, or so I was told.
After our parents passed away, we inherited most of their belongings e.g. our house, car and money. We had no idea what we would do without them, however since I was already 16, I was allowed to make decisions for ourselves; I knew that the only way to survive in this world was to just move forward.
After some time searching online how to start afresh, it hit me to move to another country and, when I told my sister about the idea, we decided to finalise it and buy tickets. I thought, and knew, that it wasn't going to be easy but we had enough money to support ourselves for a while until I had found some part time jobs. We also planned schools, apartments, food etc. for just about a year and said that if nothing went to plan, we would come back and carry on with how we were originally living.
This move excited me a lot, I had always wanted to move to another country since I was little because I was so curious about this world.
Moving forward about a week into our move in Shanghai, it all went smoothly. Since we had good grades, it was easy to enrol into any school, as well as enough Chinese we had learnt the few months before moving here, we were ready.
It was nerve wracking but I was also excited to meet new people. Let me tell you, I had a secret preference of Asian boys so I guess you could say that I may hit bingo here ;)
Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyys,
Thankfully, we were able to find some nice landlords who rented us an apartment in Jing'an District for quite a good price, especially since this place was absolutely gorgeous. Towering glass buildings and beautiful nightlife. It was a tall building with decent sized bedrooms and kitchen, clean enough for us to live in and most importantly, close to our schools.
The one I enrolled in was a modern 6th form and university open to those residents and also people from oversees, me. It was very pretty and hugeeeeee. My sister was enrolled into a normal primary school around 10 minutes walk from home, great since we didn't have to pay for transportation. Both added costs added together was still good, not to expensive but still has high ratings.
Tuition fees weren't too bad and were available on finance as well as student loan therefore it was quite easy to get into a school.
It was very late at night already before I had gotten into bed, the sky dark and mysterious. The moon shone brightly through my bedroom curtains, radiating light and comfort.
So, here we are. 2 days before school.
I have to say, there were butterflies in my stomach and I couldn't sleep well all night. Tossing and turning.
My mind was pretty blank, as with anyone who had experience moving schools, but my only focus now is studying. And I will keep it that way.
But, I had no idea what was coming my way...
So, since this is my first chapter, I decided to make it a little short and include some background. The places in China are real, Shanghai and Jing'an District, however I did make up the schools and everything else that will come ahead. Please do comment, some love and constructive criticism will be appreciated, since this is my first novel. Hope you enjoy. The following chapters will be longer however I have no specific update day.
Lots of love, Victoria xxx
