Nazmi found herself awake hours before the sun had risen, when it was still dark out. She was out of breath and her heart was racing. Her dreams were plagued with nightmares of the events that had occurred less than twenty-four hours before, and several painful recounts of the awful experiments they had attempted on her.
Samir, who hardly ever slept anyway, roused himself quickly when he felt her discomfort. His worried eyes pierced the darkness of the room as he looked at her. They were both lying down, facing one another.
"Are you alright?" The Prince asked, reaching a gentle hand out to squeeze her arm reassuringly. "You're safe now, they aren't here."
As she stared back at him, her head began to swim with various thoughts that she had originally buried deep in the recesses of her mind… but with all of the frustration that had built up, everything started to overflow.
