At this point, the puppet was essentially a lifeless body, ready to accept the shadow. After the shadow was merged, Arias separated a strand of his Yang Shen and embedded it in the core of the puppet to prevent it from gaining autonomy and potentially betraying him.

Hancock, tasked with operating the self-cultivation furnace, nervously watched over the process. The furnace rumbled on, and as it did, Salome's flames began to fade, signaling that the water snake's demonic body was also losing its power.

The process took longer than ever before—another seven days passed before the furnace finally stopped. When the hatch opened, both Arias and the puppet emerged, smiling at each other.

Arias scoffed. "What treasure? Raftel? It's just the truth about the blank century. I'm not interested."

Rayleigh was surprised, but he was old and had long since stopped caring about Roger's pursuits. "Do you have any new tricks? The old man has been teaching these youngsters for quite a while. Shouldn't there be some reward?"
