章 7: Three Fundamental Jutsu

"Since we are all already gathered outside it is a good time to start with a demonstration. Do you all still remember the three fundamental Jutsu that I have told you about?", asked Iruka and looked at the children.

Naruto perked up his attention and immediately shouted. "Iruka-sensei. Do you mean the Clone, Substitution, and Transformation-Jutsu? Are we finally going to learn them !?"

Iruka just sighed. "Yes, I mean exactly them but next time raise your hand if you want to say something, Naruto. Today we will start with basics first. To perform the Jutsu you need to be able to gather chakra which is needed to perform various Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. Some Taijutsu techniques also rely on chakra to perform them."

He changed his position and clasped his hands together in front of his chest. "Now this here is one way to gather it. Try to focus your minds on feeling the chakra flow inside you."

"Are we really starting at that point? How boring. I will pass then.", interrupted Sasuke and walked somewhere where he could sit down.

"Hmm?" Iruka looked at the kid. "So you have already learned the basics. Then how about you show us the Clone-Jutsu?"

"Yeah! Stop bragging!", shouted Naruto as well. Sasuke only snorted arrogantly and performed the Clone-Jutsu without failing. After a white smoke puff, his Clone was standing underneath a tree.

"Very good.", commented Iruka. "That is a well-done Clone-Jutsu"

"As if! You think I can´t see the difference?" Naruto charged at the Clone underneath the tree because he thought it was the real guy and tried to punch him. But his fist went right through its body.

It was the clone and because that disrupted the illusion it vanished with white smoke. Naruto crashed with all the force he gathered into the tree - hand first and his head second. He could only hold his face in pain.

"And that is how a good technique can fool people. You can also see that clones are not material and only are there to distract opponents from the real bodies.", sighed Iruka while explaining.

The girls cried out in admiration again because Sasuke was so good already. And while they were at it, they also laughed at Naruto.

Kaito saw all this and could only smile wryly. He did try to stop him but he was actually intrigued about something else that got his attention at the moment. There was a golden question mark hovering over Iruka´s head for some reason. It appeared after he first started talking about the Jutsu and stuff.

"Hey, Naruto. Can you also see that?", he whispered to his brother after he came back.

Naruto looked at Iruka and then back at him. "What do you mean? I only see Iruka-sensei."

"Hmm, maybe I am just tired and see things?", asked Kaito himself.

"Now everyone. Try to focus and gather your chakra. I will observe you and help out if you have any questions."

*DING*

That sound shocked Kaito and he flinched.

"Is everything alright, Nii-san?", asked Naruto after seeing him flinch like that.

"You can't see this?" Kaito pointed at the blue screen in front of himself. What Naruto saw was him pointing at Iruka once more.

Naruto just frowned and pouted. "If you want to make fun of me because I didn't recognize the real guy then please stop..."

"No of course not. I...Well, forget it." Kaito just stopped involving Naruto and looked back at the blue screen that was still in front of himself.

´Huh? What is this...What is a quest?´ Kaito tried to make sense of this screen. ´It tells me to do something so is it a mission? It also has a question mark symbol above the text. Is it connected with the one above Iruka-Sensei?´

He looked back at Iruka and saw the symbol was gone.

´Well, let's just do what it says and see what it does. So how do I accept? Touch it?´ Just when Kaito thought about it, the YES button was pushed.

´So just thinking about it does it, huh? Well, what next? Quest tab?´ Another screen appeared with more information about the mission.

*Learn how to gather charka on your first try*

*Iruka has given you the task to gain the ability to gather chakra. Don't disappoint him. Stand in a comfortable stance and clasp your hands together. Then concentrate on to your chakra reserves in your abdomen and try to move it with your will. When you succeed in moving it slightly the quest is complete.*

*Bonus: Guide the collected chakra to your mouth and spit it out. Do be careful and don't aim at people.*

Reading all that text sure put him into a confused state. But Kaito was not an idiot so he just followed the instructions that Iruka told about and positioned himself comfortably.

Then he started to sense that so-called chakra. He already knew that it could have many colors and it was said that is mostly looked like a flame. In gis case it was a red flame.

Iruka was moving around and observing the children that tried to find their chakra. There were, of course, the children from the clans that already knew about it so it was a no brainer for them. When he also saw the Uzumaki twins doing it he smiled. These two may not be that bad. Why did they have such a bad reputation, though?

Just when he thought that Kaito started to emit chakra around his body. That surprised Iruka because normally chakra becomes visible after a certain amount of it is concentrated inside the body. That could only be done with training and was rare for 5-year-olds to do. But this kid actually did it.

´His chakra reserves have to be enormous. Then what about Naruto?´, thought Iruka and switched his gaze towards the blonde. His chakra also started to flow out but it was completely erratic and disappeared from time to time. It was like a flickering light. And Naruto also was already stopping his gathering and breathed heavily.

´He has the same amount. Remarkable. But his control over it is...´

Just then Kaito looked distressed and opened his eyes. He looked at a wall where no one was standing. He could feel the chakra in his mouth already beeing too much and needed to do something. Kaito was excited at first that he could feel the energy inside his stomach and guide it somewhat to his mouth. But it soon became uncontrollable.

Good thing he remembered the screen saying to spit it out. And as he did the chakra mixed with his saliva and enlarged it into a bullet-like object. It was sent straight into the wall and created small chips and cracks on it.

Iruka became flabbergasted seeing that. He looked back at Kaito who was also now breathing heavily.

"Are you alright, Kaito? Why did you perform a Jutsu?"

"I did?", asked Kaito back in surprise.

"Yes, that was a small water bullet...You didn't know?", asked Iruka once again.

"No, I didn't. I just moved my chakra to my mouth and when I felt it became somewhat bad, I didn't know at first how to get rid of it. So I spat it out."

Iruka heard that and looked at him intrigued. Then he smiled. "Very smart thinking. That was a good decision. Most people that start with Jutsu training tend to hurt themselves when practicing them. That is also why at the academy you will not learn such dangerous methods. We will foster your foundation with the three fundamentals. And when you reach perfection in them it should be enough control of your chakra that you can perform such Jutsu as you used. But please do be careful when performing that action again, alright?"

Kaito nodded. "I will." It was not like he wanted to implode his head.

Some other students saw that and were amazed by his performance. Especially Naruto his eyes were shining like stars again. "That was amazing, brother! You gotta teach me!"

Sasuke was sitting on a bench a little bit further away and squinting his eyes towards the twins. He may not have felt the amount of chakra these two possess because one needed somewhat of a sensory ability but now he knew there was someone else that was somewhat good with chakra. He actually may feel something like a rivalry.
