章 59: 59. Quinn's future

Albus slowly opened his eyes, feeling an overwhelming sense of rejuvenation that swept over him. It was as if a weight had been lifted from his head, one that had been pestering him for months on end. As he sat up in bed, stretching his arms above his head, he couldn't help but wonder what had caused this sudden and remarkable transformation. Albus smiled as he remembered the events of the previous day. The relief and joy he felt were indescribable. Now he could finally relax knowing that his little brother Abraham was with them.

Just then his mind was clouded with doubt. He couldn't shake off the feeling that everything he had experienced the previous day was just a dream. The thought of losing his brother again haunted him. Albus took a deep breath and sprinted out of the bedroom.

There inside the living room was Abraham sitting on the sofa and just next to him was his son Quinn.

***

As a vampire, Abraham didn't need sleep like a human body and now to top it, as a part-dragon he could even spend extremely long amounts of time without taking any rest. Taking advantage of such a benefit, Abraham spent the whole night thinking and planning his next step.

Seconds after seconds, time drifted until morning was already upon him. From the window just next to the entrance door, the rays of sunlight were penetrating, illuminating the whole room.

After waiting for a few more minutes, the sound of a door was heard notifying Abraham that someone was awake. At that moment he did not have the dragon's eyes enabled but still from his highlighted hearing, he could distinguish who was coming by the sound of the step.

It was neither Ginny nor Albus, but the main protagonist of the original book; Quinn Talen. Seeing the innocence on his face, Abraham could not help but remember how the boy had no really normal life memory once Quinn had started the system. Even when in the canon, Quinn had won the battle against the dalki's, his life problem didn't end as more enemies appeared.

But in this lifetime, it was going to be Abraham's role to take on these challenges. On one hand, he was happy for Quinn to live a happy life but at the same time, Abraham could not help but sadden when he felt like he has stolen Quinn's fate.

"Even if you don't have the system, I will help you achieve your goal in life and help you become a powerhouse on your own." Abraham added another mission to his list of things to do.

"Good morning Uncle Abraham." His thought was interrupted when he heard Quinn's voice.

Abraham beckoned his nephew over to come and sit beside him. As Quinn sat down on the sofa, Abraham put his arm around the young boy's shoulders. Abraham could feel the bone upon contact with the shoulder, notifying Abraham of how skinny Quinn was.

"Good morning Quinn. Did you sleep well?"

Abraham asked with a gentle smile, trying to ease any nerves Quinn might have had.

Quinn nodded shyly and mumbled a quiet "yes."

Abraham chuckled softly, "That's good to hear. It looks like your parents are still sleeping. That leaves both of us alone. Why don't we get to know each other better? I'm sure that I going to get impressed by a smart guy like you."

At first, Quinn was a little hesitant to talk, but after repeated questions and answers, he and Abraham were discussing different things.

Abraham used one of the communication skills he acquired in his previous life. During the time he was a teacher in his previous life, and he would help a child open up by complimenting the child and talking about the hobbies the child was interested in. Abraham would sometimes put himself in a position where he would feign any knowledge about the topic and let the child continue the explanation.

Just like that Abraham learned a lot about Quinn's life that was not mentioned in the book.

At last, Abraham asked him a final question.

"What do you intend to do when you grow up? Are you going to be a fighter that's going to help in the war?"

After the question, the was silence in the room. Abraham saw Quin's head was down looking at his feet. The boy looked to be in deep thought. After a moment, he spoke his mind.

"Yesterday, I heard the talk between Dad and you. About how you wish to become strong to protect everyone. Do you think a weak boy like me has the possibility to have such a dream?" At the end of the sentence, Quinn raised his head and looked directly at Abraham and then returned to his initial position.

Abraham had saw that looks many times during his previous life. Whenever people would congratulate a very bright student, the academically weak one would have such a look. They were saddened by their own weakness and were dreaming to be in such a grand position.

Abraham knew yesterday that Quinn was silently listening to his conversation with Albus. Inside the wireframe vision, Abraham was able to see Quinn's yellow aura just next to his room's door. Quinn was trying his best to listen by placing his ears on the door.

"Being born weak is fate. But staying weak is a choice. Do you wish for a life that you can live with your parent without any worries? Then you will have to work for it. Now there are many different paths. If you wish to just become strong enough, then the road is going to be easy but if you wish to become very strong, there are going to be many obstacles in your way. But the little time I have spent with you, I knew that you are a kind-hearted kid that is extremely disciplined and determine to achieve whatever is possible."

Abraham gave him time to think and but before the latter could give any answers, Abraham saw Albus entering the living room.
