Seraphina started work the following day and immediately after she finished her morning shift, she was called into Head of Company's office.
She wasn't sure who to meet there because all these were only inside information of the company.
As soon as she stepped into the room, the scent of a familiar cologne filled the air. The person sitting on the other side of the table turned and her jaw dropped.
"Mr Lucian…?"
Lucian heard what she said clearly and he looked unfazed as he leaned back in his chair. "I never knew we would have such an uncultured employee who would be seen in a clubhouse tonight." His voice carried a cold edge as he said that and Seraphina looked up at him with disgust.
"Excuse me, sir. I don't think it is very nice to judge someone without knowing the reason behind their decision." Her brows knitted in a frown and it amazed Lucian although his cold expression still remained there.
"Very brave of you to speak to me like that while you aren't even sure of your position in this job yet." He said, rising elegantly from his seat before looking out the window behind him.
"I might be less superior to you, sir, but I do not like being humiliated." She expressed her opinion with her head bowed and a smirk finally appeared on Lucian's lips and just then, the door was pushed open and Lucian's personal assistant, Gabriel walked in majestically.
"What is it?" Lucian asked as Gabriel dropped a file before him with a bow.
"We have a problem." Gabriel informed him, looking back at Seraphina who was still standing there.
"Fire that secretary and make her the secretary. She will be following me to the gala meeting this weekend." Lucian said as he returned to his seat and Seraphina looked up at him in shock.
"I would politely decline, sir. I will like to work my way up to be fit for that position…"
"And get her out of my sight, now." The chilling thunder of his voice sent shivers down her spine but Gabriel was already used to it.
"I will get back to you in a few minutes, Miss Seraphina." Gabriel said politely as he showed her out and returned to Lucian's table, where he was going through the file Gabriel gave him. "Adrian's men attacked the northern border again this afternoon. Our men were able to push them back, which they successfully did."
"They are only attacking the strongest attacks we have set up. I'm thinking maybe they aren't strategizing well." Gabriel pointed out as he traced the large map on Lucian's table.
"Or they wanted something else. Adrian would not just attack. Check all the supplies from the north and make sure there is nothing hidden in it." Lucian said as he closed the file.
"Yes sir. And sir, about the lady?" Gabriel asked concerning Seraphina's situation. "Should I…"
"And make sure she starts working immediately. And I will be leaving for the border now, gather the men." Lucien interrupted, and Gabriel bowed before stepping out of the office.
"Get the men, we're leaving for the borders." Bianca commanded in her alpha tone. Making the rest of them training terrified for a moment despite being used to it.
As Lucian stepped out of the building, into the parking lot, he sighted about fifty of his men waiting for him. He got in his car and drove off immediately, not waiting for the rest
It was so daring to attack his border while knowing how ruthless he could be. Duskborne was the second powerful clan after his father's and it was very foolish of Adrian to just attack with his rogues alone.
The cars drove through the road outside the collective buildings of the city, to avoid alerting people of the attack. Although they all knew no harm could come in since Lucian was their leader
After an almost half an hour race, they got to the main building at the border, created for the soldiers to camp.
As they got there, Lucian stepped out of his car, and the men were immediately assembled outside. The men standing guard at the border bowed in respect as they saw him. Lucian didn't even look at them, she just walked to the general.
Smoke of burnt battle material was still in the air as he walked by. "Was it only the rogues he sent this time?"
"Greetings, Prince Lucian." The general bowed in respect. "There were thousands of them but we were able to make them retreat. We were able to get one of them alive."
Lucian stood there for a few minutes, no one able to read his expression and just then, Gabriel sped in, stopping next to Lucian.
"Get him out of here." Lucian said and a guard hurriedly brought a large chair for him to sit as the men dragged the tied rogue out of the room and he set eyes on Lucian and fear came over him.
"Should we do this the hard way or the easier way?" Lucian asked and he fell at Lucian's feet.
"I'll tell you anything you want to know, Prince Lucian. I will tell you anything." He sobbed and Lucian just chuckled.
The men around knew Lucian's brutality when it comes to torture and punishment and the chuckle made them pity the rogue even more.
Lucian smirked as his fangs slowly elongated and he licked it gently. They all knew that was the final sentence for the rogue. A royal blood vampire biting into a rogue was poison to the rogue and he would die a slow and painful death.
In a swift motion, Lucian seized him by the neck, sinking his fangs into his neck. The rogue howled in pain, making the birds on the trees fly for their dear lives.
"Leave him to die." Lucian stood up and licked his fangs as they returned to their normal size. "And prepare her dress for the gala."
"Curious to see her in one of them."
