"Every single person who knows Asher and I were together now know he called off our engagement." Seraphina scoffed, folding her arms across her chest.
"Do you think I care? If not because of our family in the first place, you would never be able to even measure up the the level of his ex fiancee." Mirabelle pointed out and Seraphina stared directly at her. "Oh yes look at me anyway you want to. It is the truth and you know it, you ungrateful brat."
"Stop treating me like I'm not part of the family. If I am not then stop coming to me. I will gladly separate myself from the Emberlyn family…" Before Seraphina could finish her sentence, a slap landed on her face.
"You ungrateful brat. Just like your mother. You are a good for nothing piece of trash. You're now Lucian Van del Turo's Secretary, do you know how much money that can bring in for the family? You can't be all selfish when we help you in your time of need. Everyone knows you only slept your way to that position."
Seraphina said nothing and just stared at her. "I am expecting ten thousand dollars before the end of this week. I don't know where you want to get it, but get it…"
"And if she doesn't give it to you?" Lucian's voice came from the shadows before he stepped closer to them, his aura filling the air.
"Your… your highness." Mirabelle quickly bowed her head. Seraphina did the same and he walked up to her, lifting her chin up to check her face.
"I don't appreciate you threatening my employee. I pay them to deal with their personal problems not give to you who can't work to earn a dime." His gaze remained on Seraphina's face as he spoke with his aura choking Mirabelle.
"It… it is a family thing, your high..." She choked trying to explain herself to him but he wasn't even listening to her.
"Get out." He interrupted sharply and Mirabelle scurried away. "Why do you always have to be in trouble with the bad guys, Angel?"
Seraphina didn't say a word as he lifted her chin again to look into his eyes but she kept her eyes down and tears rolled from it. Lucian wiped off the tears from her cheeks before grabbing her hands. "Brace yourself, it'll be quick."
In a second, he sped from the location and they appeared on a cliff overlooking the whole city. Seraphina gasped as she grabbed his hands tightly. "You should have gotten used to vampires going past you."
"I… I only live in a community of werewolves and humans. We… we rarely have vampires around near country sides." She said, catching her breath.
It was true the vampires were rarely in the country side because most preferred the cooler part of the city. "Well, try getting used to it. Who was she?"
Seraphina's expression changed as she let out a sigh, sitting on the grass on the cliff. "She is my father's older sister who inherited his father's wealth but she will stop at nothing till she takes everything that belongs to my father."
"You shouldn't let her walk over you as she liked. You are so much better than that. Even better for Asher." He replied and Seraphina looked up at him before rising.
"Who is Asher to you?" She asked. His gaze remained fixed on the horizon with his hands in his pocket.
"His father is a close and trusted friend of my father but I detest Asher." He replied coldly, the cold wind blowing towards them.
"Aunt Mirabelle and him were partners once, after breaking off, he asked me out. We started a business together and now he broke off our engagement and took every share, bribed the court to rule in his favor. Now I have nothing to earn from other than working in DGE." Seraphina explained.
"So he isn't only a man whore but also a cheat."
The environment was quiet and the only thing that was heard was the distant howling of wolves and moving cars in the city. Nights were always the busiest time of the day in the Duskborne Clan.
"Thank you for helping me tonight, sir." She said as she started playing with her fingers, looking down at them. "I didn't know what Mirabelle would have done."
"You should have stood up for yourself…"
"She has the ability to cut off every single means of treatment I have to help in the improvement of my father's health." Seraphina replied and Lucian looked down at her.
"She can?" He raised his brows and she nodded. He was quiet for a few minutes before he spoke up again. "Gabriel will arrange a ward for him in DGE hospital. The company will take care of the payments."
"Really?" Seraphina looked at him in shock and he looked back down at her with a small smile on his face.
"Only if you call me Lucian when we're alone."
