Chapter XLVI: Bloodlines.
Last Time.
He's interrupted by a backhand to the nose, which slams him into the wall. As he's trying to get up while holding his broken nose, he looks up to see Fury looking down at him, cracking her knuckles as a seal appeared taking up her entire right arm. "Fury says... Break."
Outside, Queen Bee and the others are waiting for Psimon to return with a more obedient Fury. Only to frown as Fury comes back, dragging a bruised, broken, and bleeding Psimon by the leg. She throws him at her feet. "Try a less cowardly approach next time, Bee."
As she turns to leave, Icicle Jr. comments. "That was kind of hot."
This makes Fury turn and headbutt him, effectively knocking him out. As she turns to leave once more, Devastation looks at her. "Where does that girl get the attitude from?"
Mount Justice February 25, 09:15 EST.
Kage, with his hood down, watched as Megaera in sweatpants and a tank top flew inside beside her twin wearing the same outfit.
"Why are we here, Dad?" Donna asked as Naruto smirked.
"The next step in your training. Should have been done a year ago, but with the Tiamat situation, we couldn't." The girls looked at their father in confusion.
"What more is there to learn? We mastered everything in the scrolls you have."
Megaera said as Naruto smirked and pulled two square pieces of paper out of his pocket. "Now, we're going to see what Element Affinity you have." He handed them each a paper. "Just add chakra to it." Doing that, their papers split in half. "Wind, like me," Naruto said looking away at a screen. Missing the joy on both of his daughter's faces at having something new connect them to their father. "Let's get started."
Now.
Mount Justice February 28, 10:07 EST.
Kage and Nightwing worked on decoding the data Miss Martian and Martian Manhunter stole from Malina Island. "Inscription completed. Translation, completed."
Robin and Beast Boy walked up to them as they moved notes across the screen. "Is that the Krolotean intel?" Robin asked having Beast Boy look at him.
"Krolotean intel?"
Naruto looked at a picture before answering. "M'gann and J'onn took some intel from Malina Island before it exploded." Nightwing nodded before continuing.
"They were snatching humans to use as guinea pigs. They were hoping to find something that dwells in all of us."
"What?" Robin asked as Naruto shook his head before Nightwing spoke.
"No English word for it. The closing one is, 'Metagene'." Naruto froze at that having both Nightwing and Robin turn to him. "You know what that is?"
Naruto nodded before typing on the keyboard. "Yeah, one of the times I went to an alternate dimension. "
He brought up a picture of him with a man in a different Flash suit and his cowl down showing dark brown hair. With him is a group of people in a lab.
The first is a woman with long brown hair in a black business dress and a coat.
There's another man with graying brown hair with glasses hanging off his shirt.
To Naruto's left is a man with long black hair to his shoulders with a Marvel X-Men t-shirt.
Beside him is an African-American man with a Police badge.
And finally, an African-American woman who looked to be in her twenties wearing a yellow sun dress.
"In this Universe, Barry was adopted by the West Family there. Wally was in class at the time. Anyways, this Flash had something called a particle accelerator explosion that created people with superpowers... There and a few of the other universes, they call the people who have powers, Meta-Humans. I also met that world's Ollie."
"And?" Nightwing asked having Naruto sigh.
"He was like Batman. I don't know if that Bruce is at that point of becoming Batman, yet. Ollie looked to be in his early twenties so maybe Bruce was as well. So maybe they were trying to force the people they caught to get superpowers to find weaknesses."
Suddenly, the lights flickered as the alarm went off. A ball of electricity formed behind the group before dying down to show a large black machine. A door opened up and a teenage boy dashed out. "Tadah!"
He is a Caucasian teenager with a slim physical build, brown hair, and green eyes. His costume is a white spandex suit with a red line on the middle of his body, along with red gloves and boots. He also has a yellow visor with red rims.
"Damn it, Bart! We've talked about this! You've got to control yourself!"
Two more people walked out of the machine, having Naruto's eyes widened at the one on the right. The reason is the fact that the person looks like an older version of himself.
The Elder Naruto has light blonde hair and a trimmed beard. He's wearing a tattered red coat, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.
"Sup?" The older Naruto said with a wave with a light green robotic right arm. (1.)
The next is another man with spiky, dirty blonde hair wearing a red mask similar to a hockey mask. He's wearing a Kevlar vest under a brown trench coat, black pants, and boots. (2.)
"I think we've found our energy impulse." Beast Boy said getting Bart to smile.
"Impulse! That's so crash! Catchy, dramatic, one word." Bart said speeding over to the group. "You're Nightwing, a young Kage, Robin, and Beast Boy!" Bart said before speeding around the base.
"Don't mind him, he's just letting his real self out."
The older Naruto said before Robin and Beast Boy gave chase. "If you are me, why did you come back from the future?" Naruto asked his older self who sighed.
(A/N: So there's no confusion, I'll put an E. beside the older Naruto when he speaks while sharing a scene with Naruto.)
"Why would anyone come back to the past? To change the future."
Bart came back, only to get hit by Nightwing and ha handcuffs put on him as well as his ankles. "Now that was crash." Bart groaned at that.
"Maybe for you, I'm feeling the mode."
Tibet February 28, 23:14 BT.
"You sure she's wearing enough clothes?"
"Yes, Naruto, Lian's fine," replied Cheshire in an annoyed tone.
Kage, wearing a white winter coat looked at his daughter's smiling face from Cheshire's back holder. He closed the flap before looking towards the old-looking, three-story building. "This is too easy." Naruto looked to see Blackfire beside Red Arrow, both in winter gear as well.
"I mean, all the good guys have looked for the real Roy for a year, and you-" He was interrupted by Cheshire.
"All the good guys don't sleep with the enemy that knows where he is." Naruto groaned at that.
"You're not going to let that go, are you?" He swore she glared through her mask.
"No, I may be friends with Copperhead, but that gives her no right! And you!" Naruto stared slack-jawed at that.
"What did I do?!"
He asked having her poke his chest. "Don't tell me you didn't enjoy it! I've heard stories from some of her past boyfriends!" Naruto opened and closed his mouth several times.
"I got nothing." She held onto her carrier before walking to the building with Blackfire.
"Really? Nothing?" Red asked as Naruto sighed.
"Nothing that would get her to stop yelling at me about it." He said walking to the building as well.
"I heard that!"
Mount Justice February 28, 10:30 EST.
Naruto E. sat down with Grifter beside a tied-up Bart who was smiling. "Okay, I know the 'Me' is telling the truth, at least about himself. He has my Jinchūriki Seal." Naruto said before Beast Boy looked at them.
"Okay, tell us something we don't know! When do I become the leader of the Team? And then when do I join the Justice League?"
Naruto E. snorted at that. "We can't tell you anything... Yet. Or else we risk destroying the entire space-time continuum. And you'd have to talk to Marie about that, she's still iffy about you being on this Team."
Beast Boy blushed in embarrassment at that.
"Recognized: Mal Duncan, A11."
Bart vibrated out of his cuffs and dashed out of the hanger exit as Mal rode in on a motorcycle. "Damn it, where is he going?" Nightwing asked as Naruto E. sighed.
"To go see Barry... Today's the day he dies."
Central City February 28, 12:03 CST.
Barry Allen took the coats of two people, a man, and a woman.
The man is a Caucasian male with graying brown hair and blue eyes. He's wearing a magenta shirt and brown pants.
The woman has short grey hair and is wearing a red dress shirt over a white one and black pants.
"Happy Anniversary!" He and Iris said as a banner with 'Happy 70th Jay & Joan' on it hung over the fireplace.
Suddenly, Naruto E. flashed beside Barry and shook his head. "Oh, long way here." He said right as Bart ran in and looked at Barry.
"Hey! I'm your grandson from the future! Bart Allen, also known as Impulse!" Impulse hugs Barry before letting go and dashed to Iris. "And you are my grandmother Iris! And you must be the Garricks! That makes you my honorary great-grandparents!"
Naruto sighed as Impulse hugged the Garricks. Jay just looked at Barry. "Something you've been meaning to tell us?" Barry walked over waving his hands. "NO! He's not my grandson. Not from the future or anything."
"You know, a dashing future me is here right?" Naruto pointed to himself with his robotic arm.
"That could just be an illusion to prank us," Iris said as Naruto rolled his eyes.
"Feel my beard, then. My Genjutsu (Illusion Technique) can't make things real." Doing so, she gasped quickly pulling her hand away. "See?"
She composed herself and looked to Barry. "I wanted to tell you later, in private... Barry, I'm pregnant!" She said as Impulse dashed to her.
"Hi, Dad! Hi, Aunt Dawn!" Naruto facepalmed at that. "Oops, spoilers."
Suddenly, Wally walked in and looked at them. "Nightwing called and said I can help."
"You're Wally West! My first cousin once removed!"
Ring! Ring!
A phone went off, having Naruto to stiffen. "Don't answer that. I mean this is a reunion." Impulse said as Iris answered her phone.
"Hello, Pete." After a moment, she turned to Barry. "A super-powered lunatic downtown, calling for blood. Your blood." Barry lifted his right hand showing a yellow ring with a lightning bolt on it.
He twists it, having his suit pop out, and expands to change into it. "Come on, Grandpa! Let the League handle this guy! How often does a relative show up from the future?"
Flash sighed at that. "Look, we'll talk about this later. Back in a flash!" He said before speeding off.
"'Back in a flash', does he say that often?" Impulse asked having the group sigh.
"Too often." Naruto crossed his arms as Impulse dashed away after Flash.
"Okay. Why did you come back?" Naruto looked to Jay before he continued. "I've had my adventures in time travel, even helped out an alternate Flash's dealing with that as well back in my prime."
"Well for today, to keep Barry from dying. That's all I'll say-Aack!"
Naruto choked out as Iris suddenly grabbed him and pulled him close. "Then why the hell are you still here?!" She asked shaking him back and forth.
"Impulse-Has-The-Thing-To-Stop-It-From-Happening!"
Downtown Central City.
Naruto E. jumped down to see a man in a containment suit having nuclear energy roll off him.
Impulse and Flash dashed around right as Kid Flash sped over to keep the cops away. "I'm paid to keep the city safe, Speedy." Naruto landed on the van and flipped down as Impulse and Flash sped over to them.
"Nope, Speedy's Green Arrow's partner, he's Kid Flash. I know it's confusing." Naruto said as the cop looked at him in confusion. "I'm from an alternate reality where it's farther in the future," Naruto said before Impulse and Flash spoke up to come up with a plan and started speaking faster.
"Okay, chipmunks!" Naruto yelled once their voices became high-pitched. "You gonna stop the bad guy or should Grifter and I handle this one?"
All three Speedsters dashed off and started to run around Neutron. A twister formed, having Neutron float up before yelling.
BOOM!
He exploded having the Speedsters run away and stop by Naruto. Impulse walked before Naruto stopped Flash from grabbing him. "Impulse, now! While he's getting his powers back!" Flash looked to Naruto as Impulse dashed away. "Before you ask. You die once you go to Neutron. I gave Bart a capsule that'll stop him from exploding. Neutron was experimented on and is being controlled, so to speak."
Naruto looked to see Impulse drop a blue ball onto Neutron that went inside him and then back to normal. He's revealed to be a bald man and completely naked. Jay Garrick sped over to them in his costume.
It's a simple uniform, consisting of blue pants, a red long-sleeve shirt emblazoned with an upside-down lightning bolt, red boots with small stylized wings, and a tin doughboy helmet that also sported stylized wings on the side.
"I guess you boys didn't need me, huh? Joan's going to kick my ass for putting on the uniform outside of a memorial."
Tibet February 28, 23:29 BT.
Kage, Red Arrow, Cheshire, and Blackfire dropped inside the building out of their winter clothes and stayed in the shadows before one Shadow guard came up behind them. Only for Naruto to turn, and knock him out by slamming his head on the wall. Both Lian and Jillian squealed in happiness alerting a large group of guards.
"Told you we should have left them with your sisters," Red said surrounded before Naruto dropped a flash bang. He knocked out the group, having the baby girls laugh and clap their hands. "Should I be concerned over the obvious delight our daughter has for violence?"
Red asked Blackfire who shrugged. "It's in her blood."
Naruto put his bow away as he opened a door. "Shouldn't you be asking the same question?" Cheshire asked as Naruto shrugged.
"Whatever keeps the boys away."
He opened the door showing a large freezer room and a teenage Roy Harper missing his right arm up to the elbow in a pod.
Cheshire opened the pod and Red caught Roy. "Two dadas," Jillian said pointing down to her father(s).
Mount Justice February 28, 23:11.
"Can I go now?" Grifter asked crossing his arms as Nightwing brought up Bart's D.N.A.
"It's a match." Naruto E. sighed before walking away.
"Then I'll be going-!" He stopped as blood came dripping down from his nose and his arm changed to a darker green. "Well... it kind of worked. But the main reason we came here still happens."
Impulse sighed before walking away. "Okay, I'm going to bed then."
Once Impulse was out of sight, Grifter walked up to Naruto E. and the two walked out of earshot of the others in the main hall. "Alright. So we've set ourselves up in this time. Now, do you still think you'll be able to pull off your plan to save the traitor?" Grifter asked, a bit of anger in his voice at the word, "traitor".
"Yes, I do. But until the other one comes to Earth, we all keep our mouths shut. Especially you. At least where your parents' identities are concerned." Naruto answered. Grifter stiffened a bit at the mention of his parents. Naruto E. then placed a hand on his shoulder. "What I mean is, right now, no one knows who your father is. Believe me, that's sensitive info, especially for everyone connected to that particular family," he said as he motioned towards Nightwing and Robin.
Grifter nodded in agreement. "So, we stick to the plan. Deal?" Naruto E. asked as he held out his metallic hand. Grifter takes it, but then pulls Naruto E. closer so that they're face to face.
"Fine. But know this now, old man. If your plan doesn't work, then I will kill the traitor. Slowly." he answered before walking away as Naruto E. could only let out a very tired sigh.
