章 1: The first bump

Martin should have known that shit will always go down when this semester starts. Why do I let my guard down again? Maybe it's due to the fact that the semester didn't start on the cursed month April, so he didn't think much of it, considering Guido Martin is someone that will not dwell in something a lot.

This is the first semester of my fourth year! Of course things will go downhill! First, the very first class of this first day of a whole year of misfortune is held right at the main building instead of the culinary and service faculty, since it's general studies subject, the very one compulsory subject that he almost forgotten to take, but remembered thanks to Ricci asking Alfonso about what subjects to take in the first semester of his first year.

Secondly, of course he won't be hearing his alarm this morning! Why? Because I'm cursed! I shouldn't even depend on only one alarm set! Now he understands why some people chose to set multiple alarms on their phone, and he is now thinking that this must be karma for him for laughing at their misfortunes.

Thirdly, Leonardo Romano, his roommate and friend from their days back in Naples, just happened to have a different class schedule with him, and woke up earlier and ran off for his own class without bothering to wake Martin's sleepy ass up. It seems even the others in their apartment are already out for their own classes as well, and he even missed breakfast just to get dressed.

Martin runs into the main building and he keeps running, trying to remember where the lecture hall is located and almost runs into the other students that are walking around the corridor. It is at that particular corner Martin shouts when there's someone appearing from the other corner and they bump into each other, making the brunet fall down on his butt with a groan, and some of his stuff spilled out from his sling bag. The other person falls down as well, and there are thick books dropped, producing a large thud sound.

"I'm so sorry!" Martin blurts out while he quickly gets his stuff, cursing in his mind for bumping into another and possibly, making the both of them late for their class, and when he sees the thick textbook with an illustration of a dog on it, he grabs it and passes it to the person he bumped into, "sorry, here's your book! I have to go, I'm so late!"

"It's fine, are you hurt?"

And Martin already sprints off without answering, where he finally found his lecture hall and opens the door and enters it, out of sight of the blonde that he bumped into.

Giorgio is mad that the university admin sent an email last night on the confusion on the admittance paperworks he submitted. What's so strange about having Dr Seiji as his guardian? Deciding that he should pay them a quick visit before his morning class considering they are useless, he wakes up earlier than usual, gets himself ready, and he grabs some toast that are on the dining table.

"Good morning Giorgio! Are you excited for your first day?" Murai Toshi- no, Murai Seiji, husband of Jin Seiji aka Giorgio's uncle but the married couple adopted him years ago when he was a young teen, asks as he puts a plate of freshly fried eggs on the table. Giorgio munches quickly on the toast while adjusting his backpack and making sure his wallet and phone are in his pants' pockets, he smiles and greets, "good morning Murai. I have to go settle some errors made by the admin before going to class."

"Oh no. What happened?" and someone approaches the man's back, poking right at his waist making him squeal in high pitch and he turns to face his assailant who is now laughing out loud, "Jolyne! Don't scare your old man like this."

"Good morning otou-chan! Good morning Giorgio!" Jolyne Seiji who looks ready in her high school uniform which is really just a blazer and she can wear anything else besides that sits down and gets one egg and puts it on a toast, "I thought classes don't start until 9? It's only 7."

Sighing that he has to repeat what he said, Giorgio shakes his head and just mumbles instead, "I'm off now. Jolyne, make sure not to cause trouble in high school."

"Tsk, just that one time I was suspected of bike theft and you reported to dad to get me into trouble."

Giorgio smirks at his sister and he quickly says bye to Murai and he exits the apartment after wearing his sport shoes, and starts walking to the campus which is luckily just a fifteen minutes walk away. It's early morning in fall and it's already windy, making Giorgio pull his pea coat to cover more of his front. His mind is empty due to the cold and he mindlessly enters the campus area and wanders right to the main building, which is surprisingly located all the way back, a distance from the main entrance.

After ensuring that Dr Seiji is indeed his legal guardian even though they have different family names where Giorgio kinda regrets not changing his name from Giorgio De Rose to Giorgio Seiji as per what has been suggested by Murai, he finally exits the office and takes a quick look at his phone. My first class is Animal Nutrition with Professor Anwar Pashia right at the science faculty, which is another five minutes walk. I have enough time if-"

And that's when he is knocked to the floor after getting bumped by someone who shouted something beforehand, who is pretty knocked down the floor as well with some stuff fallen. One of Giorgio's textbooks fell with a huge thud on the floor where he assumed that the zip of his backpack was not closed properly this morning.

"I'm so sorry!"

The brunet who bumped into him start gathering his bearings and stuff that spilled from his bag, and Giorgio starts getting up and when he wants to reach for his textbook, the guy already picked it up and he pushes right into Giorgio's arms hastily, "sorry, here's your book! I have to go, I'm so late!"

Wondering if the guy is hurt anywhere from how loud he groaned, he asks with concern, "it's fine, are you hurt?"

But he didn't reply and immediately sprinted off, making Giorgio confused since most morning classes start at 9, and it's only about 8.40, but he shrugs and starts putting his textbook back into his backpack and zips it up properly this time. Then he turns and spotted something rectangular on the floor, and he frowns.

"A phone?" The blonde bends down to pick it up, and when he sees it carefully, it's a pretty standard smartphone model, and the image of a revolver and some bullets scattered is printed on the phone case, and by the color of the design, it looks pretty worn out. He presses the power button to see the locked screen showing a wefie of some sort, that looks like the owner grinning at the front with his friends at the back. When Giorgio wanted to walk back to the office to drop this phone off as a lost and found case, he remembered how useless the staff were after being asked tons of useless questions for almost an hour.

"Shit, I guess I will hold on to this until the owner calls his phone."
