Still she had her pride, Beverly didn't want to back down when faced with this provocation.

"But a real man knows when to admit defeat." She argued. "It's so unbecoming to whine and stalk your ex-girlfriend!"

"That was because I thought I could win your heart back!" He said in frustration. "When I got together with you. I thought it was forever! I wanted to marry you."

"That's precisely what was wrong with you! Nobody dates with marriage in mind these days! You're too needy! It was stifling!  Aubrey knows it too!" Beverly cried out and gestured towards Aubrey.

"Hey… don't bring me into this…" Aubrey responded hesitantly, darting an apologetic glance at Ricky. She was entirely on the man's side on this matter. However, she didn't want to take sides so blatantly as she didn't want to rock the boat. She wanted to keep the balance of their friendship.
