章 2: Baby Life
After long days of travelling, the never ending journey of the carriage finally ended.
As a baby, the entire journey felt like it happened in a dream.
I spent my entire time asleep.
My wet nurse carried me out of the carriage and I was greeted by a huge mansion in front of me.
Maids and servants are working here and there.
After that I was brought inside the mansion.
The place was even more elegant and extravagant than the last home back at home.

Suddenly I felt my usual sluggish feeling.
It was time again for me to sleep.

I also met my biological older brother two years older than me.
We played occasionally sometimes but he has a weird superiority complex over me as someone who's older. It's just kids being kids.
Julian came to check on me every night to get me to sleep.
And every time she will bring me a pitcher of milk freshly milked from a well bred cow.
"Training."
Right now I am closing my eyes.
In this world, there is a mysterious energy called Mana.
According to Nanahoshi, Mana can be found everywhere in this world.
Even a corpse has a trace of them, is what she said.
So that would mean every matter in this world contains Mana to some extent.
Each person has a different amount of Mana stored in their body.
In the story they called it Magical Energy.
The stronger their Magical Energy is, the greater their Mana Reserves.

However that would only be possible for Rudeus since he had a strong Laplace factor.

Julian poured me a glass of milk and gave it to me.
I held the glass with both hands and drank it all down in one gulp.
After that I pretended to sleep and Julian left.
After triple checking, I went straight back to training and started practicing again.
I still hadn't grasped the feeling of Mana flowing on my body.
I still need to practice more.
I couldn't afford to slack off.

In the blink of an eye, another year passed and I turned two years old.
In this short span of time I finally started to sense the flow of Mana.
It's a strange feeling, like an intangible blood circulating in my body.
But they were scattered around tiny specks all over my body.
I started by gathering all together to the center of my body and circulating them around like a ball.
I couldn't gather most of them, and there were plenty of specks of Mana unmoved.
It seems I still need more practice.

When I gathered this specks of Mana and let it flow out of my hand, I made a small spark of flame from the palm of my hands.
The accumulated Mana was released and I felt extremely tired and fainted.
That is when I got the idea that I was drained out of my Magical Energy.
By that time I woke, Julian scolded me for sleeping on the floor.
"Today is an important day, the Master would definitely be angry with you now that you're late!"
I groaned softly and slowly dragged my body forcefully.
"Huh?"
When I subconsciously try to sense the Magical Energy in my body, I find out that the amount of specks has doubled.
"What happened? My Magical Energy? It's doubled than before!"
That's right.
Just like Rudeus, Sylphy, and Juliette did, a person could increase their magical energy capacity when they're still very young.
This became public knowledge after Roxy published her research papers in the Magic University.
But the amount is still really small.
If it was before the amount of Magical Energy I have is a single teaspoon, right now it should only be equivalent to two teaspoons.
Finally, I could start my journey to get strong for real.

It was Julian who told me about it.
