章 12: Chapter 12. Stop licking your lips in that manner
Ava snuggled closer to Xavier such that her hair was all over her face. She looked like a sleeping beauty yet so fierce when she woke up.
Xavier's memories still seem fragmented yet so familiar.
He suddenly remembered that he was not supposed to come in contact with any woman yet Ava's drool had already been on his shirt. He jumped up and rushed out of the room.
Barging into Lionel's office, the latter was scared.
"Leave whatever you are doing and run a test on me now", He had already pulled off his shirt.
Lionel did not need to be told what to do. He immediately brought him to the laboratory and drew out a sample of his blood. He also made use of his sweat.
A few minutes later, the results were out and he handed the printed copy to Xavier.
"Just tell me what it is", Xavier said impatiently.
"Who have you been in body contact with recently? I think whoever it is, is compatible with you. The results state that no trace of abnormality in your blood was detected and also the percentage had lowered considerably as against a few weeks ago".
Taking the result sheets, Xavier peered into them and roughly understood them.
The only woman he had ever come into close contact with is that Ava, he smiled and laughed out suddenly.
" So, she had been the one all this while? No wonder the feeling was so familiar like we have known each other for years", he mumbled.
He patted the surprised Lionel on the back and his lips curled expressively.
Back in the room, he did not hesitate to hug Eva so close to himself and kissed her on the nose but Ava frowned and kicked him.
Xavier moaned and kept his distance from her.
This little vixen is so strong and fierce.
Xavier moved to the window sill with his right hand in his pocket, his stance looked dignified and perfect.
Speaking softly on the phone, he was afraid of waking Ava and would turn to check on her from time to time. He had informed the kitchen in the research centre to prepare some hot soup and creamy delicacies.
Ava stirred in her sleep and Xavier ended the call.
The long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings and she woke up. Looking around her environment, she jumped down from the bed and headed for the door.
"Hey", Xavier's voice stopped her in her track. That's when she noticed that there was someone else in the room. Why is he such a pest? Xavier would have flipped over in anger if he had known her thought.
" Why do you appear everywhere I am?"
What a sharp mouth, huh?
Xavier gave her a cursory glance from head to toe and Ava followed his line of vision. Dang! Who changed her clothes? Ava's eyes widened in shock. Xavier took in her reaction and almost laughed.
" You...What did you do?" Her puffed face looked red.
"I simply cleaned and changed your clothes", he shrugged as if it was a normal thing to do.
Ava almost jumped on him.
The doorbell saved the awkward moment and Xavier went to get the door. The nurse pushed in a trolley filled with food. She set up a buffet and lowered her head while waiting for instruction.
Xavier waved her away and the nurse's bright eyes flickered to Ava's beautiful form but a cold gaze from a certain person made her run out of the room like a scared cat.
Ava's stomach growled on perceiving the aroma of the food. She blushed when Xavier gave her a weird look.
" I..."
"That's your stomach growling which means that you are a terrible liar. Stop punishing yourself", he drew out a seat for her and pressed her down on the seat.
The warmth radiating from his palms made her skin tingle. Xavier seized the opportunity to help massage her shoulders and a moan left her mouth. She needed it and he knew just the right pressure to apply on each spot.
Xavier had not expected to hear her moan but it did unthinkable things to his body system.
He immediately left her and went around her to help her take some food.
His phone rang at that minute and when he turned around a large bulge was visible. Ava's eyes momentarily went to it and she knew exactly what was going on.
" Pervert", she mumbled and blushed heavily while Xavier's ears turned red.
Clearing his throat, he ended the call and realized that Ava had already helped herself to the food on the table. She ate greedily while licking her pouty little lips.
Xavier's throat bobbed and felt parched.
"Stop doing that thing", he growled and his hoarse voice sounded deep.
"What?"
He felt speechless and couldn't convey the message.
"Stop licking your lips in that manner".
That sounded ridiculous, "what has it got to do with you?"
The clueless Ava licked her lips while allowing her tongue to run over her lower lips. She stuffed her mouth with creamy food and let out the loudest moan.
He was so frustrated that he got up and impulsively grabbed her chin. Ava was confused but before she knew what was happening, she felt his tongue in her mouth. She pushed him but he refused to budge, biting her lips, he sucked them vigorously and gave her no room to breathe.
After thoroughly cleaning every corner of her mouth with his tongue, he let her go and a satisfied smile spread on his face.
Resting his forehead on hers, "you taste like honey", he whispered.
Ava blushed when she remembered that he had just taken advantage of her, she glared
at him and stomped his feet in anger. Xavier jumped and Ava felt satisfied.
Ava felt furious and stuffed her mouth with large mouthfuls of food.
" Taking it easy, no one is fighting over the food with you", Xavier smirked.
Ava stabbed the food and wished the food was Xavier.
How could the man not know what she was thinking about? He rubbed her head dotingly.
She grabbed his hand by instinct and was about to twist it when it occurred to her that she was deliberately showing the man was she was capable of doing.
She flung his hand away and got up. Xavier had sensed that she was about to twist his arm but she didn't.
Ava went on to check on her grandma, the old woman was still unconscious and she watched her through the transparent door. Her skin was frail-looking and rough.
The man came up behind her and enveloped her in a warm hug.
"Don't move. You need this hug. You are just a girl, why push yourself so hard?", Ava flared up on hearing that.
What did he know about her?
" You know nothing about me so stop acting as if you care".
"I know everything about you Ava".
She was startled, did he know her other identities? What did he know?
" What do you know?"
"For example, I know your name, school and background. Is that not enough?" He smiled and kissed her hair, he froze and the memories tried to patch up themselves.
The feeling seemed familiar but he couldn't remember where he perceived it. Just then he seemed to have a clear memory of that night.
His body froze and Ava felt it.
"You......"
"What?"
"You saved me that night?"
Ava lowered her head, " Does it matter? We are even now. You helped save my grandmother's life and I'm grateful".
"Yes, it matters a lot".
"I hate you"
"But I don't".
"I do, that's why I don't wish to have anything to do with you".
Xavier felt pained on hearing the animosity in her voice.
"I need you to help sort out my family's issue concerning my marriage".
"What's my business with your marriage, why should I care?"
"My grandfather will come back for the Christmas celebration and he wants to see my wife by then. That will make us more even".
"And..."
"I want you to be my wife for two years. He doesn't have much time left. His heart ailment acts up at any given opportunity".
"Are you crazy?" Ava yelled.
"Can you bring your voice down? This is a hospital".
" You should have known better than to come up with such a request".
"I had no one else to seek for help".
" I'm saying no, I will not be your wife. I hate you already", she said through gritted teeth and left him.
She dashed out of the research centre and went back home to gather some essential things she will need.
Her phone rang and she picked it up.
"Hey girl", Lily screamed.
"Can you speak like a human being?"
"A girl is trying, you haven't been to school for some days now. What's the problem?"
"My grandmother is having an operation so I have to be there".
" Oh girl, how are you coping all alone?"
"Just trying"
"Final exams are starting in two weeks and we have started registering for the colleges and universities of our choice".
" I will be in school next week so I will sort out everything by then". Ava hung up the call and slumped onto their old couch.
Darn that Xavier or whatever his name is. He is making things so difficult for her. Why is he always forcing himself on her, she blushed when she remembered the sizzling kiss and how dark his eyes were after the kiss.

Maybelline had woken up barely an hour after Ava left. The first person she saw was Xavier, she blushed because the man before her was so beautiful. if he was described as gorgeous then it's an understatement.
Xavier's eyes soften and he held her hands.
"Hello Grandma"
"Who are you, young man?"
"I'm Xavier your grandson-in-law"
Maybelline's eyes widened and she smiled.
"That granddaughter of mine is so sassy and strong-headed. You need to tame her".
" Of course, I will grandma"
Maybelline was satisfied with Xavier, his disposition, his beauty, and he has wealth. She can see his love for Ava in his eyes and believed he would be able to take care of her.
That Ava never was good at keeping secrets, she had never mentioned it to her for once.
Ava appeared by the door just at the right moment just to hear Xavier's solemn promise.
What did this bastard say to her grandma?
"Grandma", she hurried in to hug Maybelline.
" Ava, you didn't tell me that you have such a handsome man. You hid it so well".
"It's not like that, grandma".
" Grandma, you don't have to blame her. We were just taking our time", he looked at Ava and moved to hug her waist intimately. Maybelline noticed their interaction and was happy to see it
