"Why are you so happy my Captain?" asked Aubrey.

It was hard to ignore that Captain Herbert was grinning from ear to ear the moment he read the king's missive.

"My dispensation has been royally approved the moment Lady Kaoma is brought back to the fortress we can be married," Captain Herbert answered then with a slight frown he said, "the only downside is that I have to go in person to receive it."

Aubrey was upset at the news but he was trying very hard not to show it.

"Why do you look so down at my good fortune?"

"Only because it feels like you will be gone forever," replied Aubrey trying to muster a smile but inside he was beyond angry.

"Don't worry the trip will take only a sennight to and from and I will be back before you know it. I'll leave my second in command Ralston in charge he is a man after my own heart."

"If you say so, Captain Herbert," said Aubrey, "let's just make the best of what little time we have left together.
