Grabbing his phone, he called the station. “Ric!” He relayed the information and asked Ric to take over the scene. Hanging up, he called Leo to inform him of having found Elijah. Elora was still out, but Leo would tell her as soon as she came to. He didn’t tell Leo where he and Elijah would go, and Leo didn’t ask. He might tell Ric when he got here, but it was sensitive information, and he had no idea who was listening. 10
Eli could hardly breathe. The place was swarming with police—in reality it wasn’t too many, but their emotions all collided in him, and he wanted to run away. Jaecar never let him out of his sight though, and as soon as he edged away from the activity, he was there by his side.
“Okay, let’s go.”
“Go?” Eli wanted nothing else. His legs had turned into spaghetti, and he believed he could sleep for a week if only he got to be alone.
“Yeah, Ric is taking over, and we’ll disappear.”
