章 5: System Awakening
He would not sit idly by just because Mirko wanted him to. However, he couldn't do a thing. He'd already tried everything to escape, but failed every time.
First, the door—locked and reinforced—didn't budge, no matter how much he pushed or pulled. It was to be expected since Ren didn't have superhuman strength to break a reinforced steel door.
Then the windows, made of thick, shatterproof glass, didn't even vibrate when he banged on it even with a chair.
"Am I in a freaking fortress?"
Ren grumbled, pacing through the room. It was just a blowjob, for fuck's sake. He didn't even do anything for Mirko; she climaxed by herself. That's why her obsession confused him.
Eventually, Ren gave up. Running his hand through his messy purple hair, he sighed and turned to the closet Best Jeanist—no, Tsunagu—had mentioned earlier.
As soon as he opened the closet, his eyes fell on the neatly placed clothes below. It was the exact outfit he had worn during his encounter with Mirko. But she had torn those apart.
She must have replaced them.
Although Ren said that, he knew from a glance the clothes were of a much higher quality than anything he could afford. At last, he picked the outfit he found the least expensive: a sleek black shirt, dark pants, and a jacket that looked far too stylish for his liking.
"Well, I can't exactly stay naked all day," Ren muttered.
He picked up the shirt, but as he slid it on, he immediately noticed something odd. The fabric wasn't like anything he'd ever worn before. It was smooth and light but also had an underlying toughness to it, almost like armor.
"This isn't normal…" Ren mumbled, running his fingers over the material. "This feels like… hero gear?"
His brow furrowed as he examined the faint glow of the fabric.
"How much did she spend on this?"
Ren couldn't help but wonder, putting on the rest of the outfit. Much like the shirt, the pants and jacket were all made from reinforced materials. Everything fit him perfectly, which was both impressive and unsettling.
Ren didn't want to imagine what she might have done to him while he was unconscious. The thought scared him. After all, it wasn't the MHA world he knew. Everyone was different here.
As he looked into the open closet, a thought hit him like a brick. The closet was packed with similar outfits, all clearly custom-made for him.
"She got me an entire wardrobe," Ren murmured. "She's not planning to let me go…"
He no longer wondered why she was so obsessed with him. In her eyes, he must be a quirkless folk. Only one thought troubled him. Could she be keeping him as a hostage because of his relationship with Aizawa?
In this timeline, there was no telling how their relationship was. If they were enemies or had their differences, it made sense for Mirko to hold him hostage, but it wouldn't benefit her.
Aizawa considers me a burden. Mirko could help him by keeping him here, out of public sight.
"What kind of monster is Mirko in this twisted timeline?" he whispered. "Who spends this much money on someone they barely know and kidnapped? Oh, fuck this… I'm tired of overthinking."
Drained, Ren flopped back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling again.
That's when he remembered the system.
He had activated his quirk but forgot all about it in the desperation of being trapped. Since everyone thought of him as quirkless, he could use their misconception to his advantage!
Ren immediately summoned the familiar interface, not expecting much. But when the faint glow expanded, his heart skipped a beat. Unlike before, the screen wasn't just filled with rows of question marks. There were actual words that he could read now.

Ignoring his stats, Ren was extremely pleased with his skills. It would take some practice to learn more about them, but with this, he could take a step toward his goal of conquering Shie Hassaikai.
However, his thoughts were halted when the door to his room was kicked open.
"Looks like you're settling in just fine!" Mirko's cheery voice echoed in the room.
However, she wasn't alone. Someone else was with her… someone Ren recognized, but felt strange at the same time. The person was different, but he knew those bright red feathers.
It was Hawks.
Only... in a female body.
