章 7: Chapter 7: Posture

Stephen turned around, looked at Mrs. Charlotte, and said, "You wanted to have a word with me?" Mrs. Charlotte said, "Yes, you weren't really focused today. Any reason why?" Stephen asked, "What do you mean?" Mrs. Charlotte smiled and said, "Oh nothing, I was just seeing if you were alright. I mean, you did kind of slip up on your words a bit today." Stephen said, "Oh yeah. He-heh-ah, I was just a bit distracted today, is all. I'll try not to let it happen again." Mrs. Charlotte said, "Yes, see that it doesn't your Highness. Now have a nice day." Stephen said, "I will, goodbye Mrs. Charlotte." He left the room, and she said, "Oh God, this could be it. Prince Stephen could be on track to marry Princess Tiqa. Oh, please let it be God, please let it be!"

In the garden were Susan, Driaka, Jenessa, servants, and guards. Jenessa, Susan, and Driaka sat at a glass table that had metal legs and gray metal chairs all around it. On top of the table was a teapot that had mint tea in it, tea cups that sat on little plates set up by every chair that was surrounding the table, saucers (small plates) that were by every chair, a sugar tin that had cubed sugar in it and a clip to pick up the cubed sugar, a mint tin and a clip to pick up the mint, and a tray of cupcakes, cookies, and tea cakes with a clip to pick up the food. Next to the table stood a butler that wore an all dark blue suit and had white gloves and a towel that hung over his arm. Around the garden were servants tending to the plants and cutting the grass and guards, walking around, and going to the training field. Elisabeth walked Tiqa over to the table and said, "Here we are, your Highness." Driaka, Jenessa, and Susan got out of their seats, ran over to Tiqa, and said, "Tiqa, Tiqa!" Tiqa smiled and said, "Hello girls." Driaka said, "Tiqa, come and have tea with us." Tiqa said, "Oh, of course, I'll have tea with you guys." Elisabeth said, "Well, I'll leave you guys to it. I have to get back to do chores now." Tiqa said, "Oh, do you have to go? Can't you join us for tea?" Elisabeth answered, "I'm afraid not. I have to go and do chores, but I will be back a little bit later, your Highness." Tiqa said, "Alright, thank you, Elisabeth." Elisabeth left, and Susan and Driaka grabbed Tiqa's hand, leading her to her chair while Jenessa followed. Driaka said, "Here Tiqa you'll sit next to me," and Driaka sat in a chair next to Tiqa, while Jenessa sat in the other chair next to Tiqa, and Susan sat across from Tiqa. The girls looked at Tiqa smiling, and Tiqa asked, "What are you guys looking at?" Susan said, "Oh nothing." Jenessa said, "Just how was class?" Tiqa got a cupcake, took a small bite, put it on her plate, and said, "Emm, who made the cupcakes?" The butler said, "All food and drinks are made by the head chef Justin." Tiqa said, "Please be sure to say thank you for me." The butler replied, "I will your Highness." Driaka said, "Come on, Tiqa! How was class?" Tiqa smiled and said, "Oh, it was fine." Susan said, "Just fine? What did you guys do? How was it just fine?" Tiqa said, "Well, I practiced my title with Stephen." The girls screeched, "Oooo, " and Jenessa said, "You practiced your title with his Highness?!" Tiqa said, "Yes, and he said I was a perfect princess and said I was a natural. It was charming." Susan said, "Awe, he did?" Tiqa said, "Yes, he did. He's a very polite prince." Driaka said, "I bet you think he's a perfect prince, don't you?" Tiqa said, "Driaka?! I think he's a nice prince. He's a nice prince, that's all. Enough about my class what about yours?" The girls sighed and said, "Boring." Susan said, "Same old, same old!" Driaka said, "We're much more interested in your day." Tiqa chuckled and said, "But I'm interested in your day." Driaka said, "If you must know Susan and Jenessa were right Ms.Sky is a boring teacher." Jenessa said, "Not just boring but strict too." Susan said, "We're practicing posture right now, so we are balancing books on our heads. I dropped the book a few times, and she yelled at me." Tiqa said, "Well, that's not very nice." Driaka said, "It's really hard, Tiqa." Jenessa said, "Me and Susan have been doing this same lesson for months, and we keep dropping the book." Susan said, "I don't think we'll ever get it!" Tiqa said, "Hmm, I wouldn't say that. You guys need a little more practice, is all. I know when I first tried this, it was hard for me, but just a little more practice, and you can get it. I know you can, and I can help you." Susan said, "Really, you mean it?" Tiqa said, "Yes, I mean it. In fact, let's try it now! Go and get some books and I'll show you." The girls said, "Okay," and ran off to get books.

After a few minutes, Driaka, Susan, and Jenessa returned. Driaka held two books in her hands while Susan and Jenessa held one book in their hands. Tiqa stood up, Driaka handed Tiqa a book, and they walked 19 feet away from the table. Tiqa placed the book on her head and said, "You see girls, what you have to do in order to keep the book on your head is keep your head up but not too high and your shoulders back." Tiqa began to walk and said, "While you walk, you want to gently move, placing one foot in front of the other. When you walk, you don't want to stomp or slouch. You keep your head up and make sure you aren't moving too fast." Tiqa made it to the table and back, took the book off of her head, and said, "Now you try." Susan said, "Alright, but I don't think I'll ever be that good." Jenessa said, "Neither will I. You're just amazing." Tiqa said, "Oh girls, don't talk like that. You're amazing too, and you can do it." Susan, Driaka, and Jenessa placed their books on their heads and began to walk. Tiqa walked with them while saying, "That's it, girls. You guys are doing great." Tiqa put her hand under Jenessa's chin, tilting Jenessa's head a little higher up as she walked. Tiqa said, "Make sure you don't look down." Susan dropped her book and said, "Oh, I can't do it." Tiqa smiled and said, "Yes, you can. Try it again." Susan said, "Alright," walked back to where she started, placed the book back on her head, and began to walk. Tiqa said, "That's it Susan keep that head up and those shoulders back. You can do it!" Tiqa walked over to Driaka, placed her hands on Driaka's shoulders while they walked, and said, "That's right, Driaka, keep those shoulders back. Your posture is great."

While they practiced their posture, Stephen and Cedar were coming out of the castle that was 30 feet away from them. Cedar said, "Well, that was a great lunch, and I cut back on food too." Stephen said, "Yeah, you only had 2 sandwiches this time instead of 3." Cedar said, "Hey a little at a time." Stephen chuckled, and Cedar said "Hey isn't that her Highness Princess Tiqa over by your sister?" Stephen looked over to see Tiqa with Susan, Driaka, and Jenessa. Hearing her say, "Good job," while the girls laughed. Stephen smiled and said, "Yeah, that's her." Cedar said, "Well, let's go see what they're doing! It sounds fun." Stephen said, "You want to go over there with them?!" Cedar said, "Yes, I do. Are you shy or something?" Stephen said, "Me shy? You think I'm shy? Ha-ha, you think I'm shy?" Cedar said, "Well, if you're not shy, then let's go. They look like they're having fun." Stephen said, "Yes, let's see go... I mean, go see what they're doing. He-heh-he."

While Cedar and Stephen walked over to them. Tiqa was talking to the girls. Susan said, "I did it, I did it! I walked all the way there and back." Tiqa said, "I knew you girls could do it. Pretty soon, you won't even need the books! You keep up this great work." The girls took their books off of their heads, jumped up and down, and Song landed on Tiqa's shoulder. Driaka said, "Hey look its Song." The girls surrounded Tiqa and Susan said, "How's it going, Song?" Song chirped, and Jenessa said, "Ah, she's beautiful." Tiqa said, "Yes, she is." Driaka said, "Do you think your mama and papa will allow Song to be in the castle with us?" Susan said, "Of course they love animals!" Driaka said, "She can sleep in my window!" Stephen said, "Suzy." Susan, Driaka, and Jenessa looked at Stephen, Susan yelled, "Stephen," and jumped in his arms while Driaka and Jenessa ran up to him. Stephen picked Susan up, and Susan said, "Stephen, I can balance the book on my head!" Stephen said, "Really? You can? This I have to see." Stephen put Susan down, Susan put her book on her head and walked to Tiqa and back to him. Cedar and Stephen clapped, and Cedar said, "Well, look at you." Stephen said, "Yes, look at Suzy balancing the book!" Susan said, "And it's all thanks to Tiqa! She taught me how! She taught us all how!" Jenessa said, "And she's way more fun then Ms.Sky!" Driaka said, "You can say that again!" Stephen said, "Well, that was nice of Tiqa. Did you say thank you?" Susan said, "Oh, where are my manners?! Thank you, Tiqa!" Driaka and Jenessa said, "Thank you, Tiqa." Cedar said, "Maybe her Highness should teach our classes too. Huh, Stephen?" Stephen said, "Um, uh yes." Tiqa and Stephen's faces turned red, and Susan said, "Wow, Stephen, you look like a tomato." Driaka said, "And so do you, Tiqa." Stephen and Tiqa gasped, and Stephen said, "Ah ha-ha hmm. Why don't you, Driaka, and Jenessa go and play dolls?" Susan said, "Oooo, are you going to play with us too?" Stephen said, "Maybe a little later, but Cedar would be more than happy too. Right Cedar?" Cedar said, "I would?" Stephen said, "Yes, you would." Cedar said, "I guess I would." The girls cheered, Jenessa and Susan took Cedar's hand, Susan said, "Lets go," Driaka said, "Come on Song," Song flew to Driaka and landed on and on her shoulder, and they all (except for Tiqa and Stephen) walked to the castle playroom. Tiqa said, "Well, I must be going too." She turned around to face the garden, but before she could take one step, Stephen said, "Oh please don't go." She looked at him, and he said, "I...I...I... Um... Hmm... my sister, she and Jenessa have been trying to get that posture thing down for months, and you got them done with it in a matter of minutes." She said, "Well, it's easy to teach children who want to learn. They obviously wanted to learn it they just needed encouragement instead of someone yelling at them." He said, "Yeah. You're an amazing teacher." She said, "Uh, thank you, Your Highness. I um... I ah...Um...I was going to sit down and eat. Do you want to join me?" He smiled and said, "Yes, of course, your Highness." They sat at the table, she picked up some food, took a small bite, and placed it on her plate while he stared at her. She said, "You don't eat much, do you?" He said, "Oh, no, I eat a lot. Justin's cooking is amazing! It's really delicious. Why do you ask?" She said, "Because you're always staring at me. So either you don't eat a lot or there's another reason why you're staring." His face turned red. He looked away and said, "Oh, uh, I'm sorry." She smiled and said, "Oh, your face is tomato red." He said, "Ah yeah, it does that he-heh-he-ah." She said, "Awe, it's cute." He looked in her eyes, and they stared into each others eyes. She looked away and said, "I um... I have to go." They both stood up, and Stephen grabbed her hand and said, "Oh no, please don't go." Her face turned red, and she said, "I...I...I have to go." She pulled her hand out of his grip and ran back into the castle all while he stared at her leaving.

She ran inside to one of the hallways and began to walk. She said, "Oh God, why did I leave? I'm just, I'm not the girl he's looking for God. I feel like I'm not enough. God, I don't know why I feel so shy! Oh God, please, please help me."

She walked back to her room and sat on her bed thinking about Stephen.
