章 259: You'll lose me too

All traces of warmth disappeared from Veron's face when he heard what she said. He stared at her blankly for a while, then he moved his gaze to the ceiling and shut his eyes.

Celeste became confused. What just happened? Why was he staring at her as if she just spoke a language he didn't understand? And why wasn't he saying anything? 

She continued to look at him with furrowed brows, wondering what was going on with him. The questions and confusion only heightened with his prolonged silence. Wasn't he supposed to be happy with what she said? That was what he wanted right? She was expecting him to smile or say something like he was happy she had made the decision to forgive him. But all she was getting now was a silence that continued to drag on.

"Are you okay?" She forced herself to ask when the silence became unbearable.
