"Will you be okay, Dalrae?" Rania asked when they were looking for food. Dalrae was mad at her for so many reasons, and she knew her best friend was right. But that didn't mean she would pretend like Dalrae wasn't going through all the stages of grief.

Dalrae was in denial and Rania knew it too. The only thing Rani could do now was to hope that Dalrae would be okay.

Granted, Rania had long prepared Dalrae to take over the alpha position for when she wasn't there, but Rania had never told Dalrae that she would have to step up, at a time when the whole kingdom wanted a taste of Rani's blood. It was sad on so many levels.
