レビューを書くMartial Arts and Mechas, quite an interesting combination. This is my review based on the free chapters (up to 18). You get a glimpse of the MC, Feng Yi, and what he is capable. He has all the usual characteristics of most fantasy genres: handsome, capable, strong (overpowered but with the ability to take it down a notch or two) and standing out in the spotlight. The only thing he doesn't have to his name is wealth. Yes, there are beautiful girls, though the author does well not to sound creepy when describing them. Putting this into my "Let's keep reading" stash!
one chapter mc is hardened orphan growing up on a prison planet, the next he kind hearted escorting a family to safety, then the next he crying as he ends the the pain of a dying mech pilot, and as shows his admiration for the Chinese spirit. The problem is all the filler characters like he does not even describe the father, mother, and two teenage daughters then they are gone. so over powered mc, old deceitful grandpa's, beautiful girls who are ther as plot filler then disappear. I lost interest
I read several chapters and dropped it because of the storytelling style. The first fight the MC was involved in was described blandly in 1 paragraph, despite previous descriptions of the MC emphasising how tough he was in a fight. The fight was more like “yeah, he was tough and he beat the bad guys”. My reaction was “That’s it??!!??” Another example of poor storytelling; he takes on a random no-name family (did I mention? Poor descriptions !), and they set out for “a spaceport 50 miles away”. After a poorly described journey that we are told is hard for the family but not for the MC (told, not shown), they seem to reach a random spot in the desert and a ship appears to take them aboard. It’s not until reading several paragraphs later that I figure out that they actually reached the spaceport and the ship that picked them up is the ship that takes them off world. Then on the ship, the family that he escorted seems to disappear and he ends up helping another family. I couldn’t figure out if the family he helped was the same as the one he escorted through the desert or a different one! At that point I gave up instead of trying to figure it out. English grammar is ok, even if the content doesn’t make sense sometimes. I like mechas, which is why I started reading this novel but I couldn’t stand it anymore. I recommend reading The Mech Touch instead!
