章 6: SHIELD
(3rd PoV)
"Sir, we still can't find any trace of the Control Gem!"
Agent Maria reported to a bald guy with eyepatch, wearing a trench-coat, trying to look cool despite being a spy, who should look as normal as possible.
Nick Fury, the director of SHIELD. Former CIA director, and the founder of SHIELD after encountering Captain Marvel and other alien species.
The Control Gem in question that was stolen is the Mind Stone, though they don't know the name yet. It was obtained during the WW2 from a Nazi commander nicknamed Red Skull who used its power to perform experiments on himself, and a lot of Jews. He also managed to influence the people of Europe and amplify their Anti-Jew mentality to the extreme.
That's why, the gem was called Control Gem.
From where he managed to find it is a mystery that can't be solved, since he also disappeared mysteriously near the end of the war, and was never found.
After getting it, CIA, and later SHIELD has tried to use its power many times, but the most they were able to do was create some energy weapons, which is only good for making people sleep.
It was only half a year ago that they found the Maximoff Twins, who they 'rescued' after bombing their country cause of a rumour that Tony Stark was being held there, resonated with the gem for some reason, especially the girl Wanda.
Using Hydra's name and their known Anti-US agenda, they managed to convince the twins do undergo experiments with the gem, and superpowered agents for SHIELD besides some Skrulls was looking like a reality.
But the gem was stolen right under their nose!
And if that isn't enough, Tony Stark no longer makes weapons for the country, but for himself. And it doesn't help that he has own nukes and that destructive armour.
The consequence of extreme privatisation.
So the SHIELD has been keeping an eye on him. And planned to install Wanda as his secretary in some years so she can control him after she got some powers from the gem.
But that gem was stolen!?
"And another thing, Tony Stark has hired a secretary from India, and we can't find any data on her."
"Dammit! They got him before Natasha!?"
Unlike the MCU, this world has more complex history and tensions between the countries.
During WW2, India fought Europe's war from both sides. One side under the British, and one side against the British.
And as enemy of the British, Germany and Japan were obviously their natural allies in their freedom struggle. And they were desperate enough to agree to be experimented upon by the Germans, who were leagues ahead of any country in science and engineering at that time.
This led to the birth of two super soldiers, Captain India from an Indian soldier which was first captured by the Nazis and later joined the INA, and Metal Hand from a Korean sex slave during the Japanese occupation.
Thankfully, Metal Hand has been brainwashed into SHIELD's assassin, and Captain India was successfully killed in the Kargil War with the cooperation of Pakistan and China.
However enemies China and US may have been at that time, letting a country that had bad relations with both at that time have a super soldier and possibly recreate an army of super soldiers with his help would have been extremely dangerous for both the countries.
Even though the India-US relations have been improving after 9/11 and 26/11 both being operated from Pakistan, and killing US civilians in the first and kidnapping Tony Stark in the second, it seems that the Nuclear Deal between the countries should be pulled back that was just signed a couple of years ago.
"Coulson, bring everything you have on that woman to me. If possible, arrest her for anything possible, ideally stealing sensitive weapon secrets. If there is no evidence, make evidence."
"Yes sir!"
"And regarding the Control Gem... let's see if Wanda can trace it back."
As Fury was going to leave, another agent came running.
"Sir! Something crazy is happening in North Korea!"
"Did that m*therf*cker finally create his Hydrogen Bomb!?"
"No! Even crazier!"
What could be more crazy?
The agent started a news channel, and it had Kim Jo Umm on live TV.
He was wearing funny clothes, like cosplaying as a ninja with that fat body of his, and he was welcoming a strange girl with purple hair and purple eyes cosplaying as some sort of goddess.
Fury knew Korean, so he understood what the dictator was saying without relying on the news channel's translation.
"My people of Korea! Our country has been blessed by the Goddess! The Goddess, Shiori-sama herself has come down from the heavens to bring salvation to the people-"
"M*therf*cker!"
Alright! This girl most likely stole the Control Gem, and was somehow even able to use its power to control the dictator of North Korea.
There is no way he of all people will use 'sama', a Japanese word. And there is no way he will pray to a 'goddess' named Shiori, which is clearly a Japanese name.
"Coulson, transfer Tony's case to one of your subordinates! We are leaving for North Korea to recover the Gem! Call Hawkeye, Widow, and all our top agents. Contact our informants from that country!
This is serious! If she can use the Control Gem, it wouldn't be impossible for her to control the US president and other important people as well!
And if that isn't enough, she has either some superspeed superpower, or Teleportation! Or one of her people have that superpower! There is no way she could steal the gem and reach to North Korea in just some hours!"
"Yes sir!"
What a headache...
To protect the world, and maintain stability, SHIELD will have to continuously work to remove such threats.
But... if she can be reasoned with, and returns the gem, then...
Fury looked over at the Avengers Initiative file lying on his table.
'I hope she can be reasoned with and isn't an enemy. Though she still needs to return the Gem, whatever her reason may be.'
He just hoped that Obama doesn't drop bombs on North Korea. As if it isn't bad already that the SHIELD has to act as if they are Hydra for the Maximoff Twins.
Whether Fury likes or not, for fighting off the alien invasions, he would even need to atleast try to negotiate with a person that is most likely their enemy.
