Being 6 years old with a high level of intellect, I managed to convince my parents to create an actual library for me. It's relatively empty since I only recently asked.
With this request being the first thing I really pushed for, they went all out, even a little embarrassed after the grand library was created.
However, it's moments like these where I see the genuine love they have for me. Due to them being so authentic these past years, we really built a beautiful connection.
When someone genuinely cares, it tends to make me smile (internally) as there is still some hope for humanity. Over the years, I've honestly grown a soft spot for these two I call mother and father.
Thankfully though, they trust me enough to use the internet to buy books. I say trust, but it's more like they have an application specifically meant for exploring books and purchasing them.
However, they must hit confirm on their phone first, as I'm still only 6 and a baby to my parents no matter how smart I am or get.
After scrolling through and selecting hundreds of books, I clicked the order button. However, before we got to the point where my parents selected the button to confirm and I ordered. I performed a little act to convince them.
It started with me calling them over, and with my current childish voice, I explained to them that I dreamed of having thousands of books.
To that dream, they asked me why. Then I told them that the way they read books is weird. At that moment, they looked at me with curious gazes, wondering what I meant.
To create suspense, I looked into their eyes for a few seconds longer than necessary before I picked up a book and mimicked the way they read.
I adorned a stern face and sat with my back all straight, my gaze focused, and ever so slowly, I flipped the pages.
While they looked on at my acting, holding in their laughs, until my father couldn't anymore and burst out laughing. With spit flying a little bit farther than he wanted, splashing his wife.
Causing my mother to glance at her husband, who seemed to have ignored the flying drop of saliva that landed on her face.
So, she slapped him on the back. However, it seemed he was prepared and caught her hand. "You were really gonna slap me over that, baby," he said to her, and she smiled saying, "no love, I was gonna pat your back to stop your choking."
With a slightly bewildered face he said, "I haven't even started choking yet, and you're ready to slap me, huh?" with a more flirty expression, he got closer to her and said, "someone's being a bad girl. I'm gonna have to punish you later," before kissing her on the neck in what appeared to me as slow motion.
Yeah, my parents love to flirt. What can I say if you're married and still flirting, your relationship is going good.
Anyways, dropping the book to the floor to get their eyes back on me, I told them to pay attention and stop bickering, which made them laugh again, thinking I don't know the ways of men and women.
Ignoring their ignorance, I asked them to choose a book from their study that I have not read. My father thinks for a bit before deciding on one and quickly getting it and giving it to me.
The book was titled "The Art of Negotiation" by Thadius Ra. I did wonder a little why he ran. He actually got his own book.
Laughing internally, I confirmed with my mom, Nitiria, that she's read it already, and she gently nods in return. Finally, getting to the important part, I sit down like a monk, looking serious and completely focused, and then my eyes open and light erupts.
Naturally it's a non-visible light covered in abyss, and I flip through the book at a pace three times that of my parents. I could go faster, but to my parents, I'm only human after all.
I did stop every chapter and let them ask me questions to confirm my knowledge. I did it for the whole book, and that's why my order for one hundred books was just confirmed.
