章 10: Ch. 9
Despite leaving before the Pearl, the fastest ship on the ocean is no joke. The Interceptor was quickly caught up with and the two pirate crews engage in fierce battle. Starting off with cannon balls the two ships damage each other before the undead crew of the Black Pearl swing their way onto the Interceptor.
Zack calls out, "Lets just fight until we lose, keep your life as your highest priority, I don't think this is the end of the story."
"Sounds good Zack, I'll leave Kobe's protection to you. As only a first year wizard in Hogwarts he doesn't have enough power yet."
Kobe sheepishly smiles pulling out a wand "Give me another two years in that mission space and I'll be much more useful."
"They didn't put you on this team for your short term potential don't worry about it." Charlie calls out while dodging swords as easily as it his for him to walk. Even elementary force perception is really useful.
Kobe moves to a corner of the ship so he's more easily protected and Zack stands in front of him. Two undead crew members walk up to the pair with a grin on their face. Before they get too close Kobe shoots out a disarming spell, "Expelliarmus!" A red bolt of light flies from his wand to one of the pirates swords. The sword flies out of the pirates hand and Kobe directs it towards Zack. Zack catches it and looks at the pair of undead with a smile on his face.
However the one who's sword was taken pushes the other towards Zack looking scared by Kobe's demonstration. Quickly reacting Zack chops at the pirates neck and his head goes flying. No blood comes out however and the head is now comically directing the body to pick it up. However it's a rather uncoordinated attempt. He obviously doesn't practice losing his head much.
The pair fight on pushing away many pirates until Charlie and Nick are forced to their position. They have no wounds but seem somewhat tired after tens of minutes of intense fighting. Undead pirates, after rounding up the normal crew surround the four warily. After a minute or so they part a way allowing one Captain Barbossa to walk through. He proceeds to say in his iconic voice,
"What are four warlocks doing in the crew of Jack Sparrow? Ye couldn't be looking to meddle in the ending of our curse. Perhaps incited by the heathen god that gave us this hellish experience?"
Zack quickly corrects Barbossa proceeding to bullshit through his teeth, "No, no, we read the tea leaves many moons ago and chanced upon the cogs of fate turning in these waters. Equal opportunities coexist with the danger of destiny."
The other three nod looking wise, in the high schools of Zack's new world, acting and improv classes are mandatory for preparing to enter the space. Going with the flow and acting is in the bones of most reincarnators.
"Hmm whatever ye may mean, I humbly invite you to watch the conclusion to our many years of torture as the undead. In fact this humble man Mr. William Turner has graciously offered his life in exchange for the survival of his lovely Elizabeth, Jack and his crew. I believe that includes you." Barbossa bows slightly and motions for them to follow him onto the Black Pearl.
Along the way back to the Isle de Muerta, Barbossa strands Jack and Elizabeth on the same deserted island he left Jack when the crew of the Black Pearl first mutinied against him. Will is angered by this filling in of the lines by Barbossa but his word was indeed to let them go, not particularly where to let them go.
As they arrive at the Isle, Barbossa and the other undead take William into the cave system and prepare to end their curse. However to the three except Zack who are watching, the turn of events is rather surprising. Jack shows up yet again like a cockroach.
"I don't believe you want to be doing that quite yet." Jack says as they almost end their curse.
"Oh, I think I do." Barbossa replies
Jack mutters, "Your funeral."
Barbossa, exasperated, motions for him to explain his meaning. Jack proceeds to tell everyone that the Navy saved him and now a large warship is outside, waiting for them to come out and be blown to bits. Jack convinces him that killing these Navy soldiers first with their immortality will pave the way for Barbossa's own fleet.
After reaching an accord with Jack, Barbossa turns to his men, "Take a walk boys!"
Nick turns to the other three, "We should participate in this, against regular humans we are pretty much invincible with the undead pirates. I bet this is where the best plot point is."
Kobe says, "But what about the warship, we can't ride a dingy like we did coming in."
Charlie pulls out four sci fi masks, "I have masks that allow us to breath underwater from Star Wars, we can swim under the water like these undead are walking under it and participate. Here you guys go."
Charlie hands out the masks and the four prepare to go. While the three's attention is on diving into the water, Zack quickly forms hand signs and creates a wooden clone that immediately blends into the shadows of the cave lit by torches. He then follows the three to the main battlefield.
As they arrive on the warship the pirates are currently massacring the navy using their undead bodies. The four quickly join in the fun killing Navy soldiers until something unexpected happens. Four girls face off against them, "You better get off this ship. This is our mission."
"No way we found it first!" Nick replies.
A girl walks forward and says, "I alone will be enough."
Charlie laughs, "Haha, you think we're pushovers?"
"Let's make it a duel." Zack steps forward pointing his arm at the girl.
The girl quickly quickly grows to a height of over two meters and her skin and hair turns green. Zack quickly pales, "The hulk physique? Fuck."
The she-hulk bursts forward, breaking the wooden deck under her and slams her large fist towards Zack. He greets her with a punch of his own to test things out. As their fists collide, Zack's fist and arm crumbles under offensive. He flies out hitting the railing on the ship. The other three step forward to get involved. But Zack quickly puts out his other hand,
"Stop! Let's let this one go she's too strong and can wipe all of us by herself."
"But Zack!"
"Listen to me! There's something else we can do anyway."
The four jump off the ship under the watchful gaze of the she-hulk and her teammates. After all Zack is the only one who can take a safe hit from She-Hulk. They begin to swim towards the Black Pearl in the distance. After arriving, they incapacitate Barbossa's crew mates left to guard the ship and set the original buccaneer crew of the Interceptor free. They quickly begin to sail away but no one notices that a strange looking man climbs up the ship side, and hands something to Zack in the shadows, the figure then disappears in a cloud of smoke.
