章 25: CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

"Well, looks like our only lead is over, this really sucks" Ceaser complained, as he kicked the trash can that was in front of him out of his way in disappointment of how today incident unfolded.

Just when they were moments from getting answers ,then something bad happens. This day couldn't get any worse.

"Can you believe that guy, making us believe he knew who abducted your mom and sister, what an ass hole".

Noah was lost in his own thoughts and barely concentrated of what Ceaser was going on about. He was sure Lucifer added something toxic to their drinks. From the way he suddenly offered them the drink even when he mentioned how expensive it was, to the subtle smell he perceived and the weird coincidence that nobody else was there offered that same drink , not even the boss himself, making him believe that really their drinks were poisoned.

"Hey Ceaser, there's something I want to tell you". Noah started as he abruptly stopped walking, making his best friend stop also .

"Yeah, what's the matter dude?".

"You know when we were offered drinks back there....?". Noah said, giving Ceaser a worried look.

Suddenly, a thunderous roar pierced the air, echoing through the night like an approaching storm.

Noah heard it loud and clear but couldn't see anything as he glances around to see where that loud sound came from.

"What's the matter dude?". Ceaser inquired, looking around in confusion

"Don't you hear that sound". Noah said .

"No....".

Finally, turning their heads, they were left speechless as they saw not one, but multiple bike gangs heading in their direction.

Fear gripped Noah's heart as he noticed the malicious intent in their eyes. Without needing to investigate, Noah already had a strong feeling it was the boss from the nightclub who sent them.

With a deep breath, he made a split-second decision.

"Jump on my back!" Noah exclaimed, crouching down instinctively.

His friend hesitated for a moment, unsure of what Noah intended,

"What are you doing ? This is no time for a piggy back ride"

Cutting him immediately, Noah said in an even louder and more serious tone, "This is no time for wise cracks, get on, NOW!".

Without asking anymore question, Ceaser quickly obeyed, trusting in their friend's judgment.

Without wasting another second, Noah sprang into action, racing down the street with his friend clinging to his back.

The chaotic chase was on. Bike after bike, car after car, joined the pursuit, the pavement rumbling beneath the thunderous procession.

Noah darted like a phantom, his reflexes guiding him with uncanny precision through the labyrinth of pursuit.

The streets were suddenly transformed into a frantic maze of asphalt, metal, and adrenaline.

"Who are these people!?". Ceaser exclaimed .

Dodging and weaving through the narrow alleyways, Noah evaded the dangerous obstacles that came their way.

The bike gangs attempted to claw their way closer, but Noah's agility and quick thinking allowed him to stay one step ahead. Leaning into every turn, he skillfully utilized his enhanced reflexes to provide the most minimal impact on his friend.

Fear flickered in Ceaser's eyes, while determination etched itself upon Noah's face.

With each passing second, Noah's muscles burned, fatigue clawing at his every movement. His heart pounded in his chest, echoing the fierce determination that pushed him onward.

But for every step he took, the claws of his pursuers seemed to close in a little tighter, their menacing laughter blending with the whirring of engines.

The chase intensified as word spread among the gangs that they was getting away.

Desperate to reclaim their prey, gang members in cars joined the pursuit, causing chaos and destruction in their wake.

Noah's heart pounded in his chest as he pushed himself harder, his mind racing with the possibilities. He had to escape, for his friend's sake and his own.

With every ounce of strength and determination, Noah navigated through the mayhem.

The streets blurred around him as he focused on his only objective: escape. He knew that if he faltered for even a moment, the consequences would be dire.

But stopping was not an option, for the sake of his friend's safety and his unwavering belief in avoiding unnecessary violence.

As the chase neared its climax, Noah found himself on the brink of exhaustion.

Everywhere he turned, every path he took, they were always there.

They were practically everywhere.

His legs wobbled, and his body screamed for respite. The distance between them and their pursuers narrowed. It seemed as though the odds were insurmountable, and escape was futile.

"Noah, we have a to find somewhere where you can catch your breath".

Noah's mind raced, searching for an escape route like a trapped animal. Ahead, he spotted an alley, its narrow mouth promising concealment.

Channeling every ounce of strength left in his weary body, he darted towards it, the echoes of relentless pursuit following close behind.

The narrow alley served as a temporary cloak, shielding Noah and Ceaser from prying eyes.

Breathing heavily, Noah carefully lowered his friend to the ground, glancing around for any sign of their pursuers. Silence enveloped them, broken only by their gasps for air.

"Who do you think those people are?", Ceaser asked still panting.

It made no sense to Noah as to why Ceaser was exhausted when he was the one doing the running.

"I think I know who sent them".

"Who?".

Their respite was short-lived. The screeching tires and revving engines grew louder, signaling that their assailants drew nearer. Panic surged through Noah's veins. There was no time to waste.

"Noah we need to keep moving! Can you run?" Ceaser asked, his voice strained with urgency.

Noah nodded, determination replacing fear in his eyes. He rose to their feet once more with Ceaser behind him, clinging tightly, the alleyway becoming their battleground once more. Adrenaline flooded his weary bodies, granting them newfound strength.

Noah's resolve sharpened as he pushed beyond his limits, every step on the cobbled road a testament to his sheer willpower.

The pursuing bike gangs unleashed their fury, hot on the duo's trail.

Their engines roared like beasts, their greedy eyes fixed on their prey. Noah could almost taste their desperation, feel their breath on his back. Yet, he refused to surrender.

He was going to make sure they both got out of here safely.

Just as all hope began to fade, Noah's determination flared. Summoning his remaining strength, he mustered one final burst of speed. Dodging a car that careened towards them, his legs propelling him forward faster than ever before.

Just as hope seemed to fade, his relentless perseverance paid off. The edge of the city loomed ahead, promising the sanctuary of open space.

With the sound of screeching tires and fading engines, Noah slowly came to a stop.

He knelt down, gasping for breath, his muscles aching from the exertion. His friend slid off his back, their eyes filled with gratitude and relief.

As the cityscape grew distant, Noah realized that he had , in fact ,with the skin of his teeth, he had outwitted and outmaneuvered their pursuers.

Breathless, sweat dripping down his face, Noah collapsed onto the grass, the taste of victory sweet upon his lips.

Beside him, Ceaser gasped for air, gratitude shining in his eyes.

"We made it," Noah whispered, his voice filled with awe and relief. "We're safe."

"Why were they after us" , Ceaser managed saying between breaths.

Noah knew exactly who it was but the question that he pondered upon was ,why did he send them? Did he badly wanted them dead?

It didn't make any sense, if he didn't know anything about the kidnapping, why was he trying to kill them. Did he perceive them as possible future threats of some kind or what?.

"It's late and we still have no clue where we are heading to and what we are even doing. Gosh, this is my fault. I made such a big talk about promising to find your parents as soon as we can and now I can't stand by my words. I feel so pathetic ".

He said , while looking at the visible glowing moon above .

Noah was still panting as he never expected he would have to run close to 50 miles per hour while carrying someone on his back, and wearing in the most uncomfortable table suit there is.

Standing up slowly, he took out the phone and stared once more at the screen displaying the message.

What was he going to do now? Every force seemed to be working against him, and most importantly, time was running out.

'9:00pm on the dot. Your mom must be pretty worried about you".

"Not really, but I have to go home early to prepare for school tomorrow ".

Noah almost forgot about school.

He signed to himself while clenching his fist .

"You can come sleep over at my house if you want. I can cook up a lie about your mom and sister going out on a little vacation and forgot you, something like that".

He was right though, he couldn't go back to his house anyways, especially not with the condition it was in when he left the house.

A low growling sound echoed through the night, it came from Noah's stomach . He was starving.

Ceaser chuckled a bit, "With how crazy fast you outran those cars and bike, I'm not surprised that you're hungry. Come one let's go back to my place so you can rest up ".

Noah smiled gently at his friend as the two made their way back home...

To be continued.
