It had not been cheap, as one would expect from a luxurious penthouse, but Henry James had not lied, and he had managed to satisfy him, very much so.

As for the uncertainty for the long-term status of the place as his home, it was because he was not sure he wanted his son to live at such heights where a little bit of childish recklessness could lead to a tragedy. So when he managed to get him to live together with him, he might look for another place.
