章 2: How I don't like her

Ares POV.

I set the alarm every ten minutes, just not wanting to be late for school. I have heard my daddy is busy in the kitchen, preparing for our breakfast.

Ah, it feels so strange to spend the day alone with dad, we don't talk much even to meet only in the morning and at night after dad comes home from work.

My current new school is the second place I've been to in the last six months. My father asked me to move cities because of his job, so I had to change schools. I didn't like the school my father chose, I only lasted a month there and then I asked to transfer to a private school which was not very popular but based on my observations, the place was quite suitable for me.

We had breakfast together, dad also took me to school by car. My father said if I could take a taxi home, I agreed because the school wasn't that far from our house.

In the front yard of the school, I saw a girl cleaning the yard alone. It was faintly heard that she was muttering a song, not at all saddened by the punishment.

We chatted a bit because I asked about the teacher's room, but I immediately regretted it.

I was surprised after seeing her face, she looked very familiar and made me feel bad memories from the past.

"It's okay, Ares. She's not in your class. A science student wouldn't be late and get punished like that," I muttered as I walked to the teacher's room.

But I guess I was unlucky again for expecting something special from my new place. The girl I met in the front yard, turned out to be a classmate and to make matters worse, she was sitting right next to me.

I just took a deep breath because of that, unable to think long but trying to stay okay.

I'm not going to be rude to her, because she gave me a good impression by giving me directions to the teacher's room. But I can't hide the fear in me every time I see that girl, it makes me have to avoid and minimize interactions with her as much as possible. Because it really wouldn't be good for me, nor for her.

It was math class that day. As usual, we always sat randomly and paired up with other friends.

The subject matter that makes the head hot at hungry hours, makes many students not focus and just stare blankly at the blackboard without understanding the explanation from the teacher.

I know the girl has been staring at me for quite a while, I really feel uncomfortable and it makes me unfocused.

I had to rebuke her harshly, take her by surprise and I hope he can keep her cool and don't do it again.

Not only looking at me during class hours, the girl again annoyed me by waving at me while in the cafeteria. Very uncomfortable, especially at that time the cafeteria was filled with students who wanted to have lunch.

Oh, I can't stop thinking about that girl. Not long ago as a student at that school, I started to get annoyed but had no choice because dad would be in trouble if I said I wanted to change schools.

I decided to go to the garden, to sit in a quiet and relaxing Gazebo.

A reading book about physics and a bottle of mineral water became my friend.

The cool breeze greeted my body and made me feel alive again. The leaves swaying as well as the sound of small birds chirping for honey in the flower garden not far from where I sat.

I glance at them every now and then, it would be great if I could fly here and there to enjoy life.

"Hey little bird, would you mind swapping places with me for a bit?" I said softly to the little birds.

I wear my glasses when I'm reading, it's times like this that I feel that I need the world to myself. Quiet and without any disturbance.

"To calculate the travel time, we must divide the distance by the speed. So, t equals d divided by s." I read my physical book.

"Ah do I also need this formula? I want to always be away from the girl, so I have to multiply time by speed. That's right, when I saw her at that time, I had to immediately avoid her so that the distance between us was maintained."

I nodded slowly, agreeing with my own words.

The wind greeted me and made me feel more comfortable. I took a deep breath of air to cool my throat.

But my gaze caught a figure that made me change my mood instantly.

That girl, if I remember correctly her name is Karina, she is standing under the tree opposite the Gazebo where I am currently.

As usual, she looked at me from a distance. I don't know what she was thinking right now, but it made my brain immediately remember the formula I just read. Time times speed, that's the way to find the correct distance.

I immediately closed the book and tidy up my belongings. Without thinking, I went from that place to where I hoped it would be safer. But the bell for a class has rung, which means I will meet the girl again, just not in a scary atmosphere because it's not just the two of us.

I feel guilty, of course. But I really can't get close to that girl.

Just by looking at her, my heart beats fast and my fear comes back.

I'm weak, indeed. I just want to look okay.

In my heart, I regret that I have chosen this school without doing research on all the students, so I can't avoid that girl figure.

"Okay Ares, everything will be fine. Just focus on school and study. You will survive for at least the next three months after the class promotion test. Ah, I need to prepare myself to enter university, I hope I will find a good place in the future." I muttered.

"Hey, Ares. We're in the same Literature group. Come here, we'll break up a little show for the day after tomorrow." a male student greets me and pulls up my seat next to him.

He is Dito, the class president who is also my neighbors in residential housing where I live now.
