"So, Thomas will be leaving tomorrow?" Bianca asked Lauren when the two of them were already in bed.

Bianca's question hung in the air as she looked expectantly at Lauren. The two women nestled comfortably in their shared bed.

Lauren's gaze met Bianca's, but she remained silent, her mind drifting back to a time two years ago. If someone had told her then that she would forget all about Rayleigh and develop feelings for a nurse, she would have reacted with disbelief, perhaps even lashing out in anger.

Back then, nurses had been mere helpers to her, subordinates in the grand scheme of her role as a doctor in charge. Lauren had always felt that her work and contributions as a doctor were always superior to those of a mere nurse. She had never understood why Rayleigh had always treated the nursing staff with such care and respect when she herself had the power and resources to simply command them.
