章 15: Part 2: Chapter 15: Return to chaos

Iraqi desert.

"Everything okay, Sir?" Sergeant Doug asked.

"My life is falling apart." He had never admitted defeat. He wanted to return to the island, to hold the nymph and make love to her until all his troubles disappeared, but it was a dream.

He was an idiot to believe he had a second chance of happiness. His emotions put through a ringer. It was not fair to her.

The obstacles were taxing, and he was not back a day.

"I understand, Sir."

Curt pulled himself together, straightened his uniform and took a deep swallow from the bottled water.

"Did you want to see me?"

"It's private Charlie Alvarez, Sir."

"What about her?"

"The doctor's wife arrived and confronted her in the open." Curt groaned; he did not need this.

"What happened?"

"The doctor's pregnant wife attacked the soldier."

"You're not serious."

"It was a good fight even though it only lasted two seconds." Doug grinned.

"No."

"The doctor pulled her away."

"Sir?" Ralph said as he stepped into the office.
