Nate had been on edge all day. He'd been watching and waiting for Dani and Reece, and now that it was well past the time they should have been back, he was worried something was wrong. He hated that she was out on the road alone, but he wouldn't dream of telling Dani she shouldn't be driving like that. She was an independent woman, and she always would be.

Picking up his phone, he dialed her phone hoping to get her. When it went to voicemail, he looked at the clock one more time. Something was wrong. He felt it in his gut.

Nate: Is everything okay?

When he didn't get a response after an hour, he sent another text.

Nate: I'm really worried about you guys.

Another hour went by.

Nate: I'm only sending this in case you can see this. I'm calling the cops.

The reply came right away.

Dani: You don't need to call the cops. We're safe.

Nate: Where are you guys?

Dani: I'll be home tomorrow.
