章 7: Chapter 07: Storm is Approaching

Like a typical "popular leading lady," Lynn was immediately surrounded by students as she took her seat in the front row.

As for me, I sighed and resignedly walked to my place.

There it was, the famous seat by the window, reserved for the anime protagonist. The one who surely had a mysterious past and hidden abilities.

Unfortunately, I was clearly not that character. Instead, my seat was right in the middle of the room, fully exposed for everyone to see. I didn't even have a cute sidekick by my side.

So, I could feel the stares burning into the back of my neck and my cheeks as I sat down, which made me incredibly uncomfortable. I had never received so much attention before!

Most of the attention came from girls whispering to each other and occasionally pointing at me. Thanks to my heightened senses, I could hear them clearly, even though they were speaking softly.

"Isn't he cute?" "He looks tough but handsome." "Do you think he'll get a girlfriend?" "Lynn and him seem close." "And where did those muscles come from?"

It was a sad truth that only good-looking guys were popular. How unfair the world could be!

From day one, I was completely ignored by girls, as if I were trash on the ground.

But if you were good-looking, you could get away with being the worst person ever, and they would die for you. But as someone weak and undesirable, they wouldn't even let me get a word in.

Now that I had officially entered the handsome clan, I attracted their attention like flies to honey.

"What do you mean I had plastic surgery? Don't compare me to you basic bitches!"

As I mentally insulted them, the class had already begun. If it weren't for Sophie, I would have definitely dropped out of school to work all day and earn more cash.

Anyway, the idea of working full-time with my new physique sounded tempting. Or even better... couldn't I just steal?

"Hmm, that's not a bad idea."

Of course, I wouldn't rob banks. There were plenty of thieves in the world, and I could rob them—not for justice, but as a reward for my heroic acts.

It was a hypocritical thought, but I didn't care.

After enduring the dull chatter, the class finally ended, and the sky was already dark. Glancing at the clock, I realized it was already 10 pm.

Walking home would take around 30 to 45 minutes. I could save that time by using public transportation, but as a struggling family, I preferred to save the money so that Sophie could use it to pay for her transportation to school.

"I'm leaving now, Dami-Dami!"

"Hmm, see you tomorrow."

At the gate, I waved goodbye to Lynn, watching as she climbed into her fancy car where an elegant maid was waiting with the door open.

No matter how many times I witnessed her "Look how much money I have" displays, I couldn't help but feel envy bubbling up within me.

"Heh, positive thoughts. Tonight is glorious," I muttered to myself, feeling liberated under the dark night. "My new senses are incredible."

Even though it was nighttime, my vision remained sharp, allowing me to perceive even the hidden details that eluded others during the day. I could also sense that strange energy bubbling up inside me—it was a clear symptom of my transformation into a werewolf.

My newfound abilities had multiplied, to the point where I could almost claim to possess a sixth sense.

This wasn't just a mere suspicion; the shivers that coursed through my entire body at that moment served as undeniable proof!

As I continued to make my way through the streets, I distinctly felt a cold gaze fixed upon me from the darkness. Someone was discreetly following my every move.

There was nothing pleasant about the gaze I sensed in the distance. It felt akin to that of a sworn enemy or someone intent on eradicating me.

Is this what they refer to as "Murderous Intent" in novels?

I subtly put myself on guard, though I continued walking as if I hadn't noticed the presence tailing me.

Considering there were still people around, I doubted anyone would openly attack me. Unless... it was a supernatural being.

I recalled what I had heard about "Dominions" from that bat and dog. If I were trapped in one, it would be dangerous, with a high probability of death. The intense gaze persisted even after 20 minutes.

Then, I entered the usual convenience store. As soon as I did, the murderous feeling vanished from my back.

I calmly placed an order for an orange juice and fries at the cashier, though I remained vigilant.

Ugh, I can't eat this stuff. What a terrible waste of money.

Thanks to my night vision, I had a clear view from the window.

Across the street, behind a dull pole, stood a man dressed in black. His intense gaze was fixed on the store.

Hey, did I become so attractive that even old men are after me? What a creepy pervert!

Should I call the police? Having a stalker wasn't pleasant. Just then, the lights started flickering wildly before completely going out.

The owner cursed as he attempted to make a call for the electricity to be fixed, but there was no signal.

'This is no coincidence.'

As I turned to look outside, a smirk appeared on the man's face. Did he somehow anticipate my thoughts?

The man began to slowly approach me, almost as if he were toying with me.

Suddenly, the owner hurriedly decided to close the store, forcing everyone to leave.

Although the man's pace was leisurely, it was clear that he was heading in my direction. I started walking away at a quicker pace, without resorting to running.

Why do I always encounter strange guys when I'm on my way home?

It was then that I heard him speak.

"This is unusual, meeting someone like him in a place like this."

Despite maintaining a distance of about 20 meters, I could clearly hear his mutterings to himself.

"So, he's a supernatural being and he knows about me. Great."

It was only a matter of time before the storm broke loose. I needed to get away from that place.

I swiftly changed my direction to the right, away from home. I couldn't involve Sophie in this.

Utilizing my superhuman abilities, I increased my speed, sprinting towards an area devoid of people in the blink of an eye. My nighttime run was exhilarating; the surroundings became a blur as I raced through.

However, when I abruptly halted in an alley, he had already caught up to me. I turned around to meet his gaze.

"Attempting to escape, are you? Tell me, which clan does your master belong to? They must be of low rank or perhaps exiled. Maybe they're even enslaving humans for their blood. So, who is your master?" He approached, his face devoid of emotion.

My master? Did he mean the one who transformed me? His gaze, as if he were staring at an insignificant insect, infuriated me.

"I have no master. Tell me at once what you want."

He formed a twisted smile. "What I desire is to eliminate vermin like you. So tell me, against whom should I seek revenge for your death?"
