"Hide's POV"
I'm not 'normal'. My beliefs and principles are too complex for people to understand, even when it's actually just common sense, these set me apart from others.
Now I know what I'm going to say next is probably going to sound stupid, but being 'normal' doesn't exactly sound normal to me. I mean what exactly does normal mean?
It's quite simple. Humans are often so self-centered that they just decide for themselves what's right or wrong. Some decisions they make eventually lead to the destruction of their own lives. It falls apart and then they'll say they can't push through or move forward anymore. Always driven by their own sense of pride.
But what exactly gives them the right to decide what's right for them? How exactly do people make decisions throughout their whole lives? Law, status, popularity, desires? What makes those things so special?
Maybe I am normal. I'm the one who's normal, not them. Because there's only one thing above all things. Logic.
Logic is absolute. That's all that matters.
I lived my life following logic. I swear it on my name, Hide Erik Mikhail. Logic; reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity. This is in dictionary terms. It's the only thing I ever believed in. I know I'm being weird and saying all of this feels weird, except my brain tells me that it's not. It's just the total reality of who I am. I'm real.
I am sitting down on one of the benches out in the open, I cast my eyes towards the sky, it was cloudless and the sun was going down. I realized it was getting kind of late but there were still a lot of students roaming around the school, the usual smiles and waves of laughter wherever I went.
It's not like I'm anyone special, I'm just an ordinary guy living a life of a normal high school student, every single day was the same.
"Hey there handsome," I hear a voice from behind. Not who I was expecting to be here right now, but it was someone else. Maybe today will be different after all.
I turned around to see a girl with silver-white hair accompanied by two other girls who looked like her, uhm. Slaves. No, I'm not joking, I couldn't help but think of them as her lackeys, I think it's kind of funny. Are they supposed to make her look more superior? I feel bad for them.
"Would you like to go on a date with me?" The girl asked. She looked kind of familiar, I heard she was kind of popular. She stood out among the rest of the girls in our school, I forgot what her name was, but not that it was relevant to me anyways.
"And you are?" I also asked. The two girls beside her gasped in shock.
"Oh my god, how rude! Everybody knows who she is!" Girl A whined.
"She's the one and only hottest girl in school! Michelle Contessa von Riviere!" Girl B added. Instead of being able to hold it in, I couldn't help but let out a small laugh.
"Why are you laughing?!" Girl A exclaims.
"Pardon my rudeness, I just thought it was funny. I didn't mean to offend you," I replied. They said her full name as if their leader couldn't introduce herself.
"OMG, you have no idea what you're talking about!" Girl B protested. Oh wow, there's no end to these girls. What is this situation I've gotten myself into?
"Girls, girls, give it a rest, this is Hide we're talking about," Michelle steps forward.
"Hide, I deem you worthy of being my hot boyfriend! Be mine and we shall be stars who will shine together!"
"No thanks," I immediately replied. Stars who will shine together? Really now?
"What?"
"I appreciate the generous offer, but I am not interested in being your 'boyfriend', it's completely illogical." I pause then stood up.
"Besides you just want to use me as a means to become even more popular right? You use boys and dump them afterward to humiliate and make fun of them," I added, she just froze there with guilt written all over her face. Shots fired.
"That's not-"
"I have nothing to gain from being your so-called 'boyfriend', I'm not interested, so go find someone else to play with."
I stormed off, and the two other girls try to comfort and calm Michelle down while fanning her, I still managed to laugh a little bit because of how funny Michelle and her two servants were.
"Logic is absolute," I muttered to myself. No one can convince me otherwise. I have no time for this.
"I will get you for this! Mark my words! I will make you mine!!" I hear Michelle screamed from a distance. She seemed a little too desperate. I think I responded quite well, not that I care but she still threatened me. I wonder what made her upset.
Speaking of which, I'm supposed to meet him right now, where is he?
"Arum's POV"
My heart was pounding, and the andrenaline kept pulsing through my veins.
"Hot and sweaty," I smirked. I can feel the passionate heat of my body rising up. It feels so good to be alive.
Focus... I know it feels really good, but I shouldn't get carried away. I can already taste the sweat on my own lips.
I take a close look around me and immediately see an opening, this is my chance!
I hinged and locked my feet on to a sturdy angle and gave a strong thrust.
I found a way to force an opening so I could hit the right spot.
And before I knew it.
"Score!!" I excitedly cheered. I was able to penetrate through their defenses successfully and kicked the ball into the net and scored the final goal.
"Who's the best? I know I am!!" I said with pride.
"We know you are captain, great job!" Our goalkeeper acknowledged. My other teammates were panting in exhaustion from the practice we had but we all had fun.
I was always the athletic type, and soccer had always been my favorite sport! When I keep running, even if I feel tired, it's hard to stop. Andrenaline gets my blood pumping and I just keep going. It's one of the best feelings I've ever had.
Being the ace and the captain of the soccer club is a lot of work, although I have to admit it's still a lot of fun, Lakewood Academy has one of the best playing fields I've ever seen, I really enjoy it here.
Moments later I and my fellow teammates went to our clubroom to get ourselves changed.
"I think we should all hang out sometime," Tsugino our goalkeeper suggested.
"I'm up for it!" I said while taking off and changing my shirt.
"Where do you get all that energy?" Kuronoya a fellow teammate asked.
"Don't ask him that, he probably eats balls every day, that's why," Tohru, another one of my teammates say sarcastically.
"Pft,'balls'," Kuronoya snickers unable to hold his laughter.
"I certainly do not, thank you very much! It's all just hard work and experience!" I said. I flex my right arm and hold my biceps with the other hand confidently.
"Show off," Tohru turns his head away in disbelief.
"Given that you never run out of enthusiasm, I'm not really surprised Arum, I'm kind of glad you're our captain," Tsugino complemented.
"Thanks! I'd love to stay and chat with you guys longer, but I have to go now. Hide is waiting for me!"
"See ya!"
I hope I didn't take too long, I'm sure he's probably waiting for me right now after being done with school research at the library.
I was walking for quite a while now but that's when I heard my stomach grumble. Now I'm hungry. I can't wait to get home and eat, I'm more tired than I thought, my stomach is literally telling me 'give me food' right now. Ugh.
Apart from sports, there will always be two things on my mind.
One is food, and the other is video games.
There's also another actually, but it's not something, but someone. That's when I finally saw him. Soft messy black hair, eyeglasses, clear deep dark eyes. I smiled.
'There he was,' I thought
My best friend, Hide.
"Hide's POV"
Looking far from a distance, heading towards me is a blonde boy with long windswept hair that curved sideways, and his noticeably distinguished canine tooth that stuck out of his mouth, it was none other than my best friend Arum.
"Hide!" He immediately reached out his arms for a hug, which I am quite very okay with.
"I hope I wasn't gone for too long," He says.
"Nah, it was perfect timing. Let's go home."
"Yeah, I can't wait to eat. I'm sooo hungry!"
Arum and I had always been inseparable. We had been best friends for as long as I can remember, we were childhood friends, and we have been really close since then.
"I can tell something happened," Arum told. We know each other so well that it's not uncommon that we can tell what the other is thinking. Both of us are like two polar opposites, it's a wonder how we came to be best friends.
"Spill the details!" Arum nudged.
"Michelle came to talk me a while ago," I replied.
"No way! The 'Michelle'?"
"She asked me to become her boyfriend."
"Whoa. Whoa. I know you wouldn't make things up. But for real?! No one ever dared speak to her."
"I obviously said no, I don't really understand people with big personalities."
"She'd totally be my type, it's too bad she didn't ask me instead," Arum says. I elbowed his right arm for it.
"I was joking!" he immediately responded.
"Besides, I wouldn't trade anyone for my own best friend," he added then smiled. I just sighed deeply, he can be really childish sometimes.
"It would be nice to have a girlfriend though. So when will you get one?"
"Nope, Not in a million years," I immediately replied firmly.
"I figured you'd say that," he chuckles.
"If you're not interested in girls, perhaps you're more into guys?"
"Arum.."
"My bad, my bad! Too far?"
"You're good" I smile in return. Sometimes wonder where does Arum get all of his usual antics, but I guess that's what I love about him.
We have this special kind of relationship, we break the stereotypical image that people have of how guys should be, and they respect that. Arum always looks out for me and makes sure I never get left out, I have him to thank for.
I have no actual interest in love, and I've never been attracted to anyone in my entire life. I was probably born that way, my principles go against it, and I can't seem to wrap my head around the concept of the so-called 'falling in love'. To me, it's a hindrance. It's impossible to understand. Romance is illogical itself.
Arum went to pick up his bike in the parking lot, and we eventually left school together. Arum usually has club practice so we don't exactly go home together often, he uses his bike when he has to get home all by himself.
We actually live together on our own in an apartment, my parents are working abroad and Arum asked his parents to move in with me when he decided to go to the same school as mine.
My mom and dad really wanted me to go to a good school and Arum really insisted on being in Lakewood with me, so he worked hard for the entrance exams since our school was a little quite prestigious.
I've gotten used to living here in the main neighborhood of our city since Arum and I originally came from our local town district Norville. It's actually more peaceful here than I never thought would be.
We were walking down the road til' Arum stopped his tracks when we stood right in front of a convenience store.
"I'll be back in a sec, I'm gonna go get something, watch my bike! I won't take long," Arum parked his bike and quickly rushed into the store. I just sighed and decided to patiently wait.
As I stood outside waiting, I see a guy walking towards my direction. He had a tall muscular stature and ginger colored hair.
As he drew nearer, I realized he was looking at me and he isn't just going towards my direction, except he's going towards me.
I was able to notice his even more distinguishable features, a tiny scar on his forehead, clean side cuts and fluffy thick hair with thick long strands that pointed outwards, he also had looks and he doesn't seem someone to be from here.
"Hey, you're from Lakewood right?" The ginger-haired boy who now stood before me asked. He's actually way much taller than I thought.
"Yes, I am" I replied.
"I see, do you happen to know where's the tailor shop? I kind of forgot the address."
"It's just around that corner actually, just turn left and go straight forward, you'll find it next to Lesley's Bakeshop," I gestured. I was right all along, I'm guessing he's new to the whole neighborhood.
"Thanks!" He gave me a warm reassuring smile.
"See you around. Hide." His smile turned into one filled with mischief. He then gave a wave then left as I froze. How does he know my name?
"Who was that guy? Do you know him?" Arum who had just gotten out of the convenience store asked.
"No clue," I replied. This was very unusual.
Something tells me that things are going to happen.
