***JAKE'S POV***

I was moving a little stiffly as I left the office. I knew that part of it was because I was tired, and the other part of it was because I was scared and worried about Alex. I knew that this was partially my fault. I hadn't stayed with her, instead I had gone to this character's job. I hadn't protected her. Hell, even when I was worried about her, I didn't call her. I knew that I had fucked up quite a bit, and there was nothing at all I could do to make that right.
