章 1: Nystagmus
As a girl borned with nystagmus along with squint, I had a timid personality. I would never actually mingle with my friends or had a fun time with my peers. I practically had no peers except some of my neighbourhood friends.
It's not like i would always stay in my room and would be deep in thought, instead I did enjoy playing small games but it would always be with some small kids who would be much more younger than me. I would make some random stupid games and they would oblige. I must have liked acting superior back then.
First of all you all must be wondering just what is this nystagmus as many people who are not familiar with medical field would hardly recognise this word. Nystagmus is actually an eye disorder which causes involuntary movement of the eyeballs. It would cause your eyes to shake uncontrollably and with squint which is also an eye disorder that makes one or both of your eyes to focus on different direction making your pupils to not be parallel. I am a very lucky girl that people around me were kind enough to not mention about my abnormalities, but whenever I would meet a new person they would innocently ask me that where am I exactly looking at. Even though that question would make me upset but knowing that they meant no harm and they were just confused and curious, I would smile and say "I have this eye problem.
Nystagmus is not rare but having such eyes would surely make you more self conscious of your defects.
