16.49% Life As a Support Mage of The Protagonist / Chapter 16: New Team Members

章 16: New Team Members

After a while, the girls still wanted to join. In their words, it gives them more chance to survive, not to mention they consider the two of them as kind and will not take advantage of them.

He doesn't really care much about what they think as long as they don't cause him trouble. Taking care of Kell is already too much work for him.

"So, where do you stay?" Kell asked.

"Well, we sleep near the forest," Lisa told them.

He had many questions to ask, starting with one, "Why?"

"We don't have enough for a stay at the inn and the lodging is a bit dangerous for us," Ian wanted to ask why before remembering he never saw any girl inside the lodging.

Unfortunately, Kell did not seem to get the memo, "Wh-" thankfully, Ian could shut him up with an elbow slam to the gut.

"Well, that is unfortunate, but with how we all get so many coins now, I think you can pay for a room the guild offers," Ian told them.

"Thanks but it is expensive, a single silver coin for a room for a day but we take our chanc-"

"There a personal bathroom for the room,"

"Looks like we will be staying inside the room girls!"

-x-

They had met the receptionist and asked for a room next to theirs. The man quickly showed them the new room. They also decided to extend their rent to a week.

Considering how rich they are at the moment, at least compared to before, 14 silver coins don't seem that much now.

-x-

"This is the best," Ana exclaimed, getting out of the shower, naked as the day she was born except for a towel draped on her shoulder.

"Yes, no wonder the room is so expensive. It is too bad there are two beds. Thankfully we can combine ours so it can fit three people," Lisa said, already changed to more comfortable clothing.

 "..."

"What's wrong Fiona?" Ana asked, seeing their last member being all so quiet.

"It just, I think we get so much help from the boys. It's not fair," Ana and Lisa exchanged glances before sighing.

"I know how you felt. After all, you left the town so you would not be forced to marry the mayor's son. You also want to prove to them someone like you, who is a pretty face with such a big milk tank," Ana grasped the 'milk tank, making Fiona gasp, "can survive without any help.

But we have to face the fact we might have overestimated ourselves," "Might have?" Lisa questioned.

Ana conceded, "Alright, we definitely overestimate ourselves. But at least we are still alive. While we are with them, we should learn and get stronger,"

Fiona remained quiet, but finally asked, "Are we going to leave them when we get stronger?"

Ana and Lisa exchanged glances, "That depends," Lisa said. "From their personality and whether we are heading the same place as they will, not to mention, whether we can stay without being a burden.

Because let's face the fact, those two are prodigies. How many people you see that can cast so many spells in quick succession, not to mention the last one, that tore through the hob," Fiona shook her head. After all, as a mage, she knew what was needed to unleash so many spells and so quickly as well.

From a large mana reserve to great mana control, both are required if a person wants to do the same thing as Ian did.

However, Lisa keeps on going, "And not to mention how fast and strong Kell is. He probably could handle our town guards with ease, not to mention taking out E-rank adventurers. So, like it or not, if the gap is just too wide, we will have to go on our separate path, or we will be drown by their talents,"

-x-

"Ian, do you think I should learn how to use a bow?"

"... you idiot, you are part of the archery team, remember,"

"Oh, right. But like I was saying, do you think I should use a bow?"

"Let me sleep first. I am too tired to deal with stupid questions for now,"

-x-

"Good morning girls, have a good night's sleep?" Kell asked.

"Yes, the bed is a god-sent. Thanks to you we don't have to sleep on the ground anytime soon," Ana replied, looking peppy.

"Oh, by the way, here," Fiona handed the pouch filled with silver coins to Ian. "This is the earnings yesterday. Considering we are a team, I thought letting someone keep the money so they could manage our finances would be a good idea," she mumbled, her face red for some reason.

"Okay, and here," he handed them 2 silver coins each. "This is for you to use as you want, like buying snacks or whatnot. I am not sure if it is enough to buy new clothes though,"

"Low quality one, no problem. Those cost 50 copper coins or so. It is the high quality one that will be expensive, some of the more expensive clothes in our town, which are smaller than this one, are priced at 20 silver coins," Lisa told him.

"Okay then. Our daily expenses, from food to equipment will be paid from our collective earnings. It just things you don't need but want like new clothes or snacks that you have to pay for yourselves," Ian reminded them.

"Let's have breakfast first, then we can get some new equipment," Ian told them.

-x-

"Looks like I could determine our budget, he told them in a hidden corner inside a tavern. For food, we will spend roughly about 3 to 4 silver coins a day.

As for equipment, today, we bought more arrows, a shield, a staff, and 5 robes for all of us. Which cost us about 20 silver coins. Because we don't need to change our equipment unless it is broken, then we will not spend too much on equipment stuff.

As for some items like a healing salve and healing potions, I think we should hold on from buying them just yet. After all, we don't know if we need it that much, not to mention my heal can take care of our injuries easily.

We should see how much we can earn as a group first before we think of getting new equipment," Ian briefed them about their plan.

"I understand the gist of it but isn't our spending a bit too much. It is hard for us to get many quests that can pay that much," Fiona voiced her worries.

Ian shrugged it off, "This is the best because if we don't spend our money on equipment, then we cannot improve ourselves. After all, better equipment will help us get deeper into the forest when we get higher-rank commissions.

Think of this as an investment for the future," Fiona nodded, "I understand,"
