章 27: chapter 27
After what felt like ayear of waiting the last people made it to the top of the cliff. We went down the cliff and to a garden area.
Some acolytes maintied the garden, but soon it would be the new airbenders. Tenzin said "alright people, we're taking a break, but stay in this garden"
I layed down along some of the bricks, I was teetering on the edge of a cliff. If I rolled over too much I would die, most likely not one hundred percent. I rested like this for an hour with my eyes closed the entire time, I did not fall asleep.
It was kinda like meditating, it felt like I was sitting in a pool of water that was at just the right temperature. It felt amazing, like it was my own world. I felt relaxed, it felt like I was always intoxicated and couldn't feel a thing but at the same time it felt like I was feeling everything.
It was indescribable. I started swimming, I was actually swimming. I made it to the surface, I was in the spirit world it seems. I was about to touch land when I was shaken violently.
Tenzin said "we're going to work on balance, wake up" I got up and followed the rest of the group to a massive balcony which had many wooden poles big enough to hold a grown man.
Tenzin gave each of us a feather and said "just like yesterday l, balance on thses poles with one leg while keeping the feather up with Airbending"
I did a backflip onto one of the poles and landed on my middle and pointer finger, left hand of course. I kept the feather up with a twirl of my feet.
I continued without rest, for the whole hour we did it. Meelo tried to knock me off with an air gust but I did another backflip and kept the feather floating.
I landed on the pillar with only my middle finger, so I was constantly flipping them off. Tenzin was impressed by my ability, guess I reminded him of himself.
Our next activity was dinner, I sat down at a table. When the food was delivered I was disappointed, I forgot that airbenders are vegetarian.
I still ate it. Airbenders went to bed early but woke up early. I layed down on thsi shitty mat and wamred it up a little with lavabending, I didn't reveal this to anyone of course.
I was warm and toasty while the others were cold and shivering. I went to sleep far faster then they did. I woke up and ate the shitty vegetarian breakfast, I chatted with some of my fellow airbenders. It was a good day, I couldn't tell yet it was still morning.
Tenzin was showing us the Bison and letting us feed them. All of us were too new or too young to have a Bison. So there are enough bison for quadruple the current number of airbenders we have but only Tenzin has one.
Meelo came running towards us and said to Tenzin "dad, dad, korra needs to speak to you, she's on the radio"
Tenzin could tell thai was urgent so he made double the to the radio. Zaheer was about to kidnap all of the airbenders and use them as leverage against the avatar.
I could hear the faint sound of an airship, this was my que to get the fuck outta here. I started dashing away from the other airbenders which confused them all.
Kya asked "where are you going" "any place that's not here,I he-" a huge explosion cut me off.
I looked up and saw P'li smiling from the side of a ba sing se airship. She sent out another explosion. I dodged it then ran off the side of the cliff. I defended down the cliff then made a little hole with earth bending to hide in.
P'li saw me go down the cliff, they rounded up or so I assume I heard P'li's voice ring out "Come out, Come out or your cousin dies"
I scaled the side of the cliff, I went upwards. P'li may have been a baddie but she was also a maniac. Ming Hua had my cousin in a chokehold with her water arms.
P'li looked at me and said a bit to normal a tone for a death threat "go with the other airbenders or your cousin's throat will be crushed in"
P'li is 34, she surpasses my 10 years older then me rule. Buuuuuuut, it only 4 years and she is a baddie. I didn't want opal to die, so I went with them.
They had all airbenders rounded up in a little courtyard surrounded on all sides by living quarters. They were not in sue because they were not in good condition the building was not very solid.
A gun would fix all of my problems right now, I had 5 bullets, 4 enemy benders. The math added up. They forced me to sit or they would kill opal. "Now that you're all here, tenzin, father's favorite, kya, mother always loved you the most, bumi uncle sokka loved you. Aang took away my bending for no reason but now fate had brought it back. It is a sign that my path is a righteous one. I do not want to harm you my fellow airbenders, I need korra and the only way I can get her is by leveraging the new airbenders"
All of the Red lotus members were waiting, one wrong move and all of us are dead, or thats what they wanted us to think. Tenzin had to confirm "you're using us as leverage" and my uncle, zaheer responded "Yes"
Tenzin stood up and said fiercely "I will not let you get to korra" and zaheer responded "you don't have a choice brother"
Thsi zaheer wasn't as scarred, he didn't have the big scar on the back of his head or the small one on his eyebrow.
Twnzin blew all but zaheer back before they could react. This was master airbender verses master airbender, zaheer may have not had the tattoos but he had the skill and knowledge.
I just noticed that P'li had slipped back into their airship. Tenzin screamed as he held the red lotus off "bumi, jinora get everyone out of here, kya, jojo help me hold them off"
I jumped up and started holding Gazhan off, P'li littered all of us with combustion bending. Me, kya, and Tenzin all squared off against Gazhan, Ming Hua, and Zaheer.
I went for Gazhan, tenzin for zaheer, and kya for Ming Hua. All bending types against each other. Well I was only using airbending just in case.
Zaheer and tenzin fought while going up the side of the building. Gazhan dodged my attacks, I said mid fight "I like to make up things about people to entertain myself or point out similatried they have to other people, you look like Gustavo fring but tatted up"
"I like to do the same, you look like a psycho" gazhan said whilw throwing a large boulder at me which I swiftly dodged. Then I said "P'li the Combustion bender is definitely a child molester"
He let out a little chuckle then we went back to our battle. I dodged his attacks and he dodged mine. This was a battle of attrition, it's who would have enought energy to finish the other off. I was out enduring him, he was slowing down and more of my attacks were hitting.
I manged to slam him against the wall. P'li exploded the ground in front of me where either was about to land. I was blown back and slammed against the wall on the other side. Kya was trained as a healer and she was still putting the hurts on Ming Hua.
Kya managed to throw Ming Hua off the side of the cliff, but she did it with so much water. Ming Hua used all of the water to give her size arms. She whipped lya through the door way then climbed through the door way.
Me and Gazhan were on the second floor balcony of the building, he was on the other side of me. He kept throwing barrage after barrage of rocks at me, it seems he was just holding back, not losing energy.
I hadn't used my stand because it would guarantee my win. I was having fun and my stand would ruin it. Kya was over whelmed by Ming Hua.
Kya git knocked out cold. Now it was just me verses Ming Hua and Gazhan. I was holding them off, they were twinning but neither was I.
Tenzin lost to zaheer and came falling down into the center of the the old airbender houses. Zaheer followed tenzin and made sure he was down for the count. It was a three verses one.
I couldn't win this. I ran through an entrance to the complex and jumped off the cliff. I went towards laghima's peak. That's where korra would give her self up to zaheer.
I started scaling Laghima's peak. Once I made it to the top I meditated. It was night time when I reopened my eyes. I went to the half way point if Laghima's peak and made a perch to lay down on.
I lie In wait for lin and Suyin to climb up the side when zaheer doesn't hold up his end of the bargin. I fell asleep and had sweet dreams but I was rudely interrupted by lin "JoJo, what are you doing here, we're about to face down Zaheer"
I got ready, but lin Said "you're staying here" she heard someone on her radio then answered it. She scaled the side of the mountain and went for the avatar.
I did the same with airbending, what could go wrong when I joined the fight. I continued to go up the mountain side and so did lin. I arrived a bit late.
Zaheer was trying to drag the avatar on their airship, P'li covered Zaheer. Some metal benders were already engaging in close combat with P'li. I threw gust if wind and gust of wind at P'li while Suyin and Lin threw large rocks.
Zaheer's airship floated away without Zaheer after someone cut the ropes that held it to the mountain. The metal benders, me, lin, and suyin were all trying to knock P'li out of the fight but with her combustion bending she made lots of thick smoke.
She had a smoke screen so she poped up from out of no where and hit us with explosions. Lin and Suyin got pinned down behind a large rock.
All of the metal benders had been knocked off the cliff and were around the bottom. I heard their cables so most were alive, probably. Lin ran out from her cover and drew the fire of P'li. Where was Zaheer?
P'li and lin are only 3 meters apart so lin had very little time to dodge. The rock she pulled up as cover was blown apart by P'li.
Lin was knocked back a few meters and was sitting on the cliff edge. P'li walked towards lin who was not ok and had some brain trauma. Lin rubbed her head and groaned.
Time felt like it slowed down as P'li drew back her head then blasted lin with her combustion bending.
But Suyin saved her, suyin was supposed to save her.
Lin was blown apart. Her leg landed right in front of me.
