"We can't even get close," I said, kind of hiding behind Aster. "He's just beating Aia like a ragdoll."
It was true. Mr Ovid is really overpowered. He was just using pure strength and we were losing. And the students acting like judges or the audiences, making all that noise, was making it hard to focus.
"I've got it," Maria's expression perked up. "Isn't Mr Ovid a cyborg? He's should have some sort of button or switch to turn off his mechanical part, right?"
"He does have a switch like that," Scarle answered as she cast some sort of spell to heal some of Ren's cuts and bruises. "But he has one for each limb. There's one on each forearms, and one on each of his leg."
Why are they all seperated like that?
I felt bad for leaving Aia on her own, but Aster, Scarle and Ren were acting as if she was fine. She had bruises all over her body and her P.E. uniform was completely soiled.
"Shouldn't we help Aia?" I asked. "She looks like she's having a really hard time."
"She'll be okay," Scarle finished healing Ren, well, as much as she could. "She's got the most agility out of all of us. She'll be fine."
Will she really though?
"It's time to come out of hiding,"I felt a hand grab my shoulder, a metal hand.
"What the fu-" I was suddenly pulled out of Aster's blinding light.
"Kyo!" Maria reached and grabbed my sleeve, only for the fabric to slip from her grip.
In just a few seconds, I was out in the open, Mr Ovid's cold, steel arm wrapped around my neck.
"Time to come out," Mr Ovid said with a sing-song tone. "Are you really going to leave a comrade behind? That's the second person you'll end up abondoning."
Aster's light started to dim, I really hope he didn't want to leave me behind. We're not even battling over a deal at this point.
"Who said we're leaving him behind?" Ren said, almost in an offended tone.
"Nice cover up," Mr Ovid chuckled. "I only half believe you would come back for him."
As Ren and Mr Ovid kept talking, Scarle looked at me. She kept shifting her eyes somewhere below me. I raised an eyebrow in response, what was she trying to do? When she saw my expression, she rolled her eyes and tapped her forearm, then she pointed at Mr Ovid.
Ah, now I remember! There should be a switch to power off his arm!
How was I going to find it though? His arms were black and metallic. And if he's a cyborg, then would he have sensors or something?
Actually, I have an idea.
"Can you get off me?" I almost shouted and tried pulling Mr Ovid's arm off. "What the hell is wrong with the teachers here?"
I fumbled with Mr Ovid's arm, trying to feel for a switch of some sort. I could see Maria and Ren's confused looks, but I also saw Scarle, who was privately giving me a thumbs up.
Hah, I finally found something! I felt a small bump on my hand. It was on the inner part of his forearm, just like Scarle said. As I kept pretending to struggle, I took a hand and pulled the switch to turn his arm off.
"What are you-" Before Mr Ovid could fix his grip around me, his arm went limb, completely. He couldn't even twitch his fingers.
I pushed him off of me, now that I had the chance. The metal was really cold around my neck and there is no way in hell I was gonna stay there any longer.
"Are you okay?" Maria asked as I finally reached her side again.
"Thank god for it," I answered. "There's no way I'm going back out there."
Maria held her bunny doll in her hands as I said this, like she was preparing for someting. When I looked closer, it looked like she had string wrapped around her fingers.
"Uh, what are you doing?" I asked and pointed at the doll.
"I want to be helpful," She said. " While Mr Ovid had you, I made a plan with everyone else that I would use my doll to get close to him and turn his switches off once you found them. And I saw the switch on his his leg. It was poking through his pants."
You're really perspective.
Before I could say it aloud, Aster went flying above out heads. He crashed into the barrier just like Ren did. Aia was out for the count, and now Aster is.
How the hell can he throw someone like that with one arm? This guy was crazy, no, the other teachers are crazy for not stopping this.
"Kyo," Ren tapped my shoulder and pointed at the doll Maria was controlling, at least I think she was controlling it with the string around her fingers. "Don't worry about Aia or Aster, Scarle's taking care of them. Just try not to get hurt too much."
Are first years a priority? Why do they keep saying to stay out of the way? Don't get hurt, stay away from the fight.
All I did was nod, then run over to Scarle's side. She was currently laying Aster and Aia next to each other, leeping them out of the way I think.
"Are they okay?" I asked. "They look pretty beaten up."
"They'll be alright." Scarle answered. "Mr Ovid seems like a brute, but he's actually like a dad."
How is someone like that supposed to be like a father?
"She got one!" I heard Ren's voice. I looked over to Mr Ovid and saw Maria's doll on his limp leg. She did it, she switched one of his legs off!
"You guys are actually pretty good," Mr Ovid said, kneeling on his other knee and holding himself up with his one arm.
"Thanks," Ren smiled. While he spoke, I swear I saw his fist turn black. "I don't really like being toxic or vengeful, but…"
In a blur, Ren went from standing near Maria to raising his fist in front of Mr Ovid's face. His fist was reeled back, time seeming to slow down as Ren moved so damn fast.
"This is for sending me into the barrier wall!"
In that moment, REN's fist collided with Mr Ovid's chin, finishing it with an uppercut. The cyborg teacher, just like Aster and Ren, went flying into the barrier. He was hit so hard that he crashed into the ceiling of the barrier.
A final crash finished it all when Mr Ovid fell back onto to the ground. His body lay limp in the crater he had created from the fall. He looked dead, but he was in fact awake and laughing like he was just told a good joke.
"Alright, I deserve that," He admitted, then raised his movable arms and gave a thumbs up. "You pass. Go spend the rest of Phys Ed messing around."
Just like that?
"Yes!" Aia raised her fist, still laying down next to Aster. "Let's get the hell outta here!"
Like some sort of miracle healing happened, Aia and Aster hopped to their feet and started cheering for themselves.
The purple barrier started to disappear, along with the glow around us. What felt like hours was only about 15 minutes, surprisingly enough.
"That was a pretty cool trick with your doll, Mari,"Scarle said, her sceptor no longer in her hands. "I didn't think you'd be able to use your powers so early on. And on your first day."
"I didn't know I could do it until last month either." Maria answered, putting bunny doll on her waist like she always did.
"Good job, guys," We turned to one of the teachers, they were helping Mr Ovid up and turning the switches back on.
"Thanks, Mr Knox," Aster said.
"Now it's my turn," Mr Violeta said, sort of teasing but I couldn't 100% tell if he was joking or not.
"WHAT?!" Maria and I exclaimed in unison.
"Relax," Mr Brisko said. He sent a certain look at Mr Violeta that said to shut up. "Since you defeated, you can hang about and mess around during Phys Ed."
I heard groans and complaints all around me. They might've been jealous of how we were the only group who got to skip P.E. class.
----------
"Lowkey, I hated that," I said as I sat down on the stairs of Iluna. "Next time, let's just do the obstacle course. I'd rather be out of breath than risk breaking my bones."
"It gets better throughout the year, I promise." Aster said and handed me a water bottle. I guess he had changed before grabbing water since he had his uniform on.
"Thanks," I took the water and opened the bottle to drink.
"The first years kinda look like they're having a hard time," Ren said, wiping his sweat away.
They really did seem to be having a hard time. The first years weren't allowed to use their powers to help them over the obstacles, so it made the entire course all the more difficult.
"Why don't we go to one of the shops?" Scarle asked, suddenly popping up out of nowhere in her uniform.
"Go change!" Aster pushed Maria and I toward the building. "Let's go! I wanna go to the seamstress!"
"Bro, chill the hell out! I just got my water!" Honestly, this dude. He just got me water and now he wants to shopping? He's such a ball of energy.
Isn't actually aball of gas in human form since he's a star? Oh, nevermind.
"We should probably hurry up, Kyo," Maria pulled me inside the school. "We don't want to keep them waiting."
All I could do was sigh and follow her. So much for just hanging around during gym class. As much as shopping is cool and fun, I'd much rather lay down under a tree or something.
I have a feeling I'm going to hate and like my life here.
Quinn finally got his choco strawberries! And he enjoyed them! YASSSSS!
Can't wait for his debut, especially with the spoilers he keeps posting!! <3
