A/N: Hi, this story has been published before in another account. I wasn't able to continue it because life got to me and now I'm back. Please do follow my IG account: iamakumakegs to keep in touch with me.

Year 656

In the crack of dawn in the country of Canaan, the heavens rained with angelic beings, bearing the holy light and appearing as majestic creatures that had not been tainted. The earth sprouted with demonic entities, possessing great darkness with the intent to taint the good and consume the righteous.

Just as when the flowers would bloom with the touch of warm sunlight, blood watered the soil, and the roots of the plants absorbed the lifeblood of both good and evil.

Before the birds could chirp and explore the skies, the winds had already carried the sound of the battlefield—war cry, metal clangs, howls of bloodthirst, and the last yelp of creatures after getting struck down.

Humanity, witnessing the clash of opposing powers, were then divided into light and dark. Those who sided with the creatures of the heavenly realm were called The Blessed and those who turned to tenebrosity were called The Vessel.

Because of the demons being deceitful and because a human's heart was feeble, many of the Blessed switched sides and evil grew with immense power.

Elysians (creatures of heaven) were slowly but surely getting trampled by the Sheols (entities of hell).

As the Elysians were about to withdraw, a creature of unknown origins; uncharted capabilities which greatly overpowered the strongest of demonic and angelic generals, and possessed qualities of different species similar to werewolves, dragons, angels, and demons—rose and fought against the Sheols, causing the torch of victory to be passed down to the Elysians.

Ten years of war abruptly ended in one day. The creature that appeared out of nowhere was named The Great Hero Adiaphora for despite its fearsome attributes it protected the light for humanity's sake. King Alcides promised the creature an eternity of worship in exchange for its protection. They turned away from the Elysians that made the angels return to heaven because of the disloyal humans.

"Praise the Lord Adiaphora! He who vanquished evil and reopened the clouded skies that damned our land!"

"Praise the mighty beast—a beast greater than God Himself!"

The chants of endless praises were given day and night. The Adiaphora in his man form showed no displeasure nor amusement from the attention that he was being given with. He sat on the pedestal that was carved for him in the middle of the city as he watched the people and their monarchy praise the ground he stood upon.

One day, the Messiah was invited for a banquet, not knowing that it was a trap set by those who had worshiped him. He was idolized. He was eulogized. But the mortals envied his immortality. They wanted to be their own Messiah—to surpass the Adiaphora.

"We need your blood. We need your flesh. Share with us your lineage!" King Alcides roared in desperation.

Adiaphora glanced at them with his cold heterochromatic eyes. Human greed was extremely laughable yet as much as it was pathetically humorous—the Adiaphora had no sense of humor nor the merciful heart to spare them for their audacity and insolence.

He was merely curious about how deplorable they were. He thought Lucifer must have been exaggerating when he visited him and his sleeping Ayah (father) inside the core of the Earth.

"Lucifer was right, humans are God's most pathetic creation," he drawled.

Humanity's desire for knowledge and thirst for power eventually led to their demise. Their curiosity for Adiaphora led to losing their greatest weapon—their messiah.

The hailed hero, with his great rage, punished the humans with a devastating earthquake that killed King Alcides and many of the people of the country of Canaan.

King Alcides' sickly son, King Kairon, ascended the throne with the guidance of Queen Eris who began Project Viel—the search for Adiophorous remains.

With the Adiphora vanishing with no trace and with the Elysians gone, the Sheols that were hiding resurfaced and attacked El' azar, the capital of Canaan.

War was not lost, for the Queen's project bore fruit of success. 333 Viels were released into the war and possessed powers similar to the Adiaphora, though still inferior, their combined power thwarted and subdued the vessels.

The war lasted for three years. The Viel who was the apotheosis of the Adiaphora was hailed as The Offspring of the Messiah, and King Kairon's Paladin despite his immature age. He led the army and protected the King.

Victory was in Canaan's grasp but the Viels—having vengeful hearts against the Queen and for a reason not known to the Kingdom, assassinated the monarch and revolutionized against the royal family and the land they ruled.

El' azar was nearing its collapse; the King was wounded and abandoned, and the crown possessed no value to the hearts of the frightened.

Blood dripped from the maimed body of the last Viel standing alongside the monarch.

Enemies made from Sheol, from his past comrades, and from the past citizens of Canaan, surrounded his King's castle. No one was left to defend his Lord except for him and a few others who preserved their loyalty.

His armor clung as his knees hit the floor. Blood trailed on the carpet behind him as his power was drained from endless days of warring. King Kairon crawled towards him and cradled him in his arms. A soft and sad smile graced his Lord's lips while he stroked his red-stained silver hair.

Peace was in his King's arms even when everything they knew was crumbling apart.

"Sire..." he called out.

His heart still willful to protect his Lordship until his last breath, if only his body wasn't torn as it was right now.

The King glanced dearly at his friend— the only family he had, and the being he held closest to his heart—closer than blood.

"It will be alright, I'll take care of everything from now on, Kou."

Ever since they were children, Kou had shielded him from any type of harm and stood by his side no matter what kind of war would threaten to arise.

"You must...get away," the Viel spoke out, barely making it in a whisper.

The King shushed him, still being so kind and elegant despite his kingdom's fall. His crown had long fallen from his lustrous dark hair, yet his authority as the emperor burned fiercer in his blue eyes.

It was his turn to save him. He could let the Kingdom fall but never the being in his arms.

The Lord's pale hand glided in a feather-like touch over his face, lulling him to sleep.

With every slide of King Kairon's hand, his resisting eyes would open yet growing weaker from the fatigue he was experiencing. Before the last skim that made his eyes permanently close, he saw a flash of red in his Lord's eyes. It was then followed by a blinding light that emitted a penetrating sound that silenced the noise of the war.

The war was won yet El' Azar lost its greatest King.

The war was won yet the people lost their hearts and their pride as a Canaanite from their cowardice.

The war was won yet two people lost each other from protecting one another.

The last words that he heard from his Lord was:

"Let's go to sleep, Kou, nothing will harm us anymore."

To be honest, I'll be expecting lots of plotholes in this one hahaha. I don't really plan my stories, I just go for it. If you find something confusing or things I need to clarify, please do tell me :) I'm always open for improvement.
