Miles and his teammates had already arrived at the gym. There are many other students that are also training themselves in the gym at the same time as you.

However, Darcey was yet to arrive, but they had some time before the time elasped.

Although Miles didn't wait to receive Darcey's response to his proposal, but he was certain that she would accept his offer. 

Miles lied to his friends that he couldn't find Darcey yesterday. It was true that he didn't have any details about her except her name but he had other means.

Few days ago, Miles had secretly planted his own monitoring device inside Darcey's shadow. That was how he discovered that she was being bullied. Infact he was able to see how it all happened to her and sense Darcey's determination to change her fate.

Moreover, Darcey's ability might seem insignificant to others but Miles understood the full potential of her powers if his suspicions were right.
