章 20: Chapter 19: Justice League First Call
"This is Batman. I need everyone to assemble immediately." His voice was just as cold as usual, but there was an edge of urgency.
Two months of relentless investigation, chasing down leads, and piecing together fragments of evidence had brought Bruce Wayne to a conclusion.
The Neon Dragon Triad, Professor Ivo, and Lex Luthor—a trifecta of chaos and power—had been orchestrating something catastrophic.
In the Batcave, Batman stood before a massive digital display.
Reports from other heroes flooded the screen, a report from robin about an intercepted shipments of chemicals, the destruction of facilities hidden under Metropolis by jason, kryptonites and the creation of unnatural weapons found by the flash after accidentally stumbling a den of criminals.
All arrows pointed to Lex Luthor as the mastermind, as the shipments were under his name, supported by Ivo's experiments and the triad.
This was new to him.. He never expected the neon dragon triad to actually work with someone.
Bruce muttered under his breath, "Lex alone is bad enough. Add Ivo and a gang like this..." His words trailed off as he turned to the table beside him, where rows of prototypes gleamed under the cave's fluorescent lights.
Months ago, after the invasion at metropolis, Bruce had started designing countermeasures—experimental weapons to combat threats beyond the Justice League's usual foes and justice league itself.
Some might say he is overly cautious for frutuitious events that is yet to happen.. But that is why its called -frutuitious-
With lack of knowledge of other parties full power, he can only make such to cover to what he thinks was lacking.
Now, as alarms blared from his systems, he only hoped they'd be enough.
In Metropolis, chaos erupted.
The night was broken by earth-shaking blows as two monstrous figures clashed with Superman.
Doomsday—a hulking abomination of pure muscle and rage, with strength that eclipsed even Superman's.
He lacked the power of flight but compensated with feral brutality, adaptability and resilience.
Beside him, A1-Doom, also once named as amazo—a sleek, horrific blend of nanotechnology and organic flesh.
Professor Ivo's powerful creation had the combined powers of eight Justice League members. According to his genius ofcourse.
Superman gritted his teeth, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
He had already been thrown through couple buildings, yet he kept pushing back.
The civilians' and the city safety was his only concern.
So why not drag the battle somewhere safe? Somewhere desolate away from civilization?
He tried, but the monsters were stuck in one place.. They cannot leave metropolis by order, he leaves the city and they will start breaking everything, but if he is within they're field of vision, they're rage auto locked on him.
He even tried lifting them on air, or making them chase him..
But none work.
One mission stated by A-1 Doom -Formerly named Amazo before the creation was mixed with a kryptonian DNA.
Named A-1 Doom as a sign of respect to the next genius besides him who heled him create this masterpiece.
A terrified family screamed as rubble fell toward them.
Superman zoomed in, catching the family, and taking them to safety.
But even as he saved them, a thunderous punch from Doomsday sent him hurtling into the pavement, cracking it like glass.
Fortunately, the family was safe as they ran away in fear.
Back in the Batcave, Bruce watched the live feed from Metropolis.
Superman was losing.
Badly.
His fingers flew over the controls, contacting Cyborg.
"Cyborg, I need a boom tube to superman's location ASAP"
On the other end, Cyborg's voice crackled with frustration. "Still calibrating, Batman. Some systems are glitching, and I can't risk accidentally throwing someone into the wrong dimension."
I just had this recently how do i even work this out... Thought the half robot.
Bruce exhaled sharply. "Understood. Also i need help, you see the news in metropolis right?"
"I know, im on my way.. "
He turned, grabbing his armored gauntlets.
This wasn't a battle he could watch from the sidelines.
In the skies above Metropolis, Batman's jet streaked toward the battlefield, his voice cutting through the Justice League comms.
"This is Batman. I need everyone to assemble immediately."
This was the first call on the entire league..
Wonder Woman's voice responded first. "I'm en route."
"Flash here. I'll be there in thirty seconds," Barry said, his voice tense.
Aquaman chimed in, "Do forgive me batman, i have a problem with atlantis that i needed to attend first"
Atlantis was a mess, it's like a world war.
"Okay, i'll call again if something happens, just call us if you need help"
"Thank you"
Green Lantern added, "On my way"
If Superman was struggling, then Doomsday and A1-Doom were threats that could possibly tear the recently created League apart—and possibly the planet.
"Hold on, Clark," Bruce muttered under his breath as the city skyline came into view. "Help is coming."
If the said man himself heard batman mutters his name, he'd be surprised as he didn't even told anyone of his identity. -Yet
Superman, battered and bruised, stood his ground against the two behemoths, his eyes glowing red as he prepared another desperate counterattack.
"Raaarghh!"
The quiet night of Metropolis had turned into a war zone.
Superman's eyes burned bright as he unleashed his heat vision, the beams searing into Doomsday's massive frame.
"What the hell are you! Hwta do you want!!"
He followed up with a powerful counter, landing a devastating punch that sent the hulking monster staggering back.
But before Superman could recover, A-1 Doom—a blend of nanotechnology and flesh was already closing in, ready to unleash another brutal assault.
As Doomsday charged, claws poised to pierce through Superman's chest, a sudden impact threw the creature off course.
Batman, clad in a heavily armored suit, had arrived.
He slammed into Doomsday with a hammering strike, the sheer force sending the beast crashing into the ground, creating a small crater.
A-1 Doom, unfazed, moved in a blur, appearing behind Batman in an instant.
Its speed surpassed the speed of sound, but Batman's suit had been upgraded to handle foes like this. His systems, now enhanced to process up to 30% of lightspeed, the system reacted faster than the human eye could follow.
A counter measure against the flash.
Weapons deployed from his armor with precision, firing specialized weight-shackles directly at A-1 Doom.
Each shackle was as heavy as a cargo ship, designed to slow even the most agile of enemies.
The impact was immediate—A-1 Doom's speed faltered, and it struggled against the crushing weight.
It tried shaking the shackles, and with its intellect, it even tried to use it as a weapon by flailing it around.
-crack and a stretching grotesque sound reverbrates from his limbs.
Its physical power is noted to be inferior to superman.
Taking advantage of the moment, Batman turned and delivered a thunderous blow, sending the synthetic monster, it's flesh dances around and getting tore slowly as batman continues a barrage of punches, the shackles prevented the monster from flying away from the blows or even escaping.
"Stop"
The monster spoke
His eyes already caved in under his mouth, his head bent and slowly regenerating.
Suddenly his eye balls that is now under his.mouth flashed red and with a scream came a devastating beam that turned batmans machine left arm into a liquid mess.
Taking note of another ability, a beam stronger than superman.
He jumps back and smashed a button.
One of his sattelite released a number of bat drone speeding towards metropolis.
Turning his attention to Superman, who was struggling to his feet, Batman knelt beside him. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice steady despite the chaos.
Superman coughed violently, his wounds already starting to regenerate, but far slower than usual. "I've been better," he admitted, his tone laced with pain.
A furious roar shattered the moment. Doomsday, angrier and more feral than before, rose from the rubble, his eyes locked on both heroes.
"That thing, it's punches is like.. Kryptonite, i'm defensless... Against it.. Same from that one"
Even his supposed to be invincible suit have some noticable damage.
Especially his cape which can't be seen fluttering behind anymore.
Doomsday lunged toward them, his massive frame tearing through the air like a missile.
Just before the collision, a blur of red streaked into the fray. Flash arrived at the perfect moment, all the accumulated momentum hits doom as his skin exploded into a grotusque mess.
Flying several meters.
Green lantern has also arrived and made a giant sword, piercing doomsday in the head.
Meanwhile, A-1 Doom, though slowed by the weight-shackles, was adapting. Its movements grew steadier, its posture stronger.
It's not even been a minute yet and most of it's wound had already healed.
"Woah, i never expected to see superman beaten like this"
Flash said before turning towards the standing monster, A-1 Doom lifted the shackles and began spinning around.
"What the hell is it doing?" Batman can't help but muttered, curious what the monster was planning to do by spinning around.
A number of tank drives towards the battlefield and released an attack, the shells exploding at the spinning monster.
But it barely does anything as it continous to spin.
Flash realized what it as trying to do "it's trying to gain momentum"
Like what he did.
But because he is bound by those heavyweight, he began spinning.
-tsk
Superman flew in towards the spinning monster in full throttle.
His fist smashing against the monsters chest, causing its body to twist, bones portruding in its flesh when all the unblanaced weight and momentum clashed after supermans attack.
"I didn't expect this"
It spoke again, as it slowly roses from the ground.
"Graaghh!!" Green lantern screamed in pain, his body crashing down the hard pavement as flash quickly caught him before he falls.
Doomsday stood in a crater, looking at the tanks far behind.
"NO!!" Flash and batman screamed.
Superman shouted, "Behind You!!"
