章 7: Flirty father

Mia had a very wide surprise on her face and so did Luna. She took the phone from Luna hand and kept on staring at it but Luna just stared at her. "What is going on?" She asked with bewilderment and got no response from Mia.

" I can't head home like this." She mumbled to Luna who was still quite in shock of what was going on. " How! When? Where? What the f**k is going on?"Luna finally spoke out after much silence. Mia landed flat on the seat they stood up from and begins to shed tears once more.

" Enough, listen to me, you have to stop it, Mia. Crying ain't gonna solve nothing." She tries to console Mia placing her hands on her hair and drawing her face closer. " The loser playing this trick might be happy if he sees you this way." She kept on advising the sobbing Mia.

CAMPBELL'S GROUP

Campbell group headquarters towered above the bustling streets of downtown Motana USA, its sleek, silver facade glinting like a shard of glass in the tropical sun. The 20-story building's modern design seemed to defy gravity, its angular lines and curved corners evoking a sense of dynamism and innovation.

As you stepped into the spacious lobby, the soft glow of LED lights and the gentle hum of conversation enveloped you. The reception desk, crafted from polished black marble, stretched like a ribbon across the room, behind which a living wall of lush greenery added a touch of natural serenity.

The elevator's smooth ascent deposited you on the 10th floor, where the phone accessories division hummed with activity. Rows of cubicles buzzed with designers, marketers, and sales teams, their faces aglow with the soft light of computer screens. Glass-walled meeting rooms and collaborative workspaces encouraged creativity and camaraderie.

In the heart of the floor, a stunning atrium rose like a crystal chimney, flooding the space with natural light and offering glimpses of the city below. This was the nerve center of Campbell's group phone accessories empire, where ideas flowed like electricity and innovation knew no bounds.

Upstairs, the executive suites occupied the 18th floor, with its plush carpets, dark wood paneling, and panoramic views of the city skyline. Here, the company's leaders shaped the future of phone accessories, their vision and strategy driving Campbell's group global expansion.

In the basement, the logistics and distribution hub pulsed with activity, a vast network of conveyor belts, sorting machines, and packing stations ensuring that phone cases, chargers, and headphones reached customers worldwide with precision and speed.

Lucas Campbell, CEO of Campbell's group, stood at the floor-to-ceiling windows of his 18th-floor office, gazing out over the city like a monarch surveying his kingdom. His chiseled features seemed carved from granite, his piercing blue eyes glinting with a ruthless intensity that made even the most hardened executives quiver.

His dark hair was slicked back, revealing a prominent widow's peak, and his tailored suit seemed molded to his lean, athletic physique. He was 50 years old man but still got a good physique body. A gold pinky ring glinted on his left hand, a symbol of his power and status.

Lucas Campbell's voice was low and smooth, like velvet-wrapped steel, capable of charming or crushing with equal ease. His smile was a thin-lipped, mirthless affair, a cold calculation that sent shivers down the spines of those who crossed him.

Behind his desk, a plaque boasted his motto: 'Victory at All Costs.' It was a credo he lived by, crushing competitors and enemies with equal relish. His was a world of winners and losers, and he would stop at nothing to ensure Campbell's group dominance.

Although Campbell's group was the largest Multinational corporations in the phone accessories business, his eyes betrayed a deep-seated unease, a sense of foreboding that he couldn't quite articulate.

A knock came through the door and it was opened only after his command for it to. A slim figure which was feminine walked in. It was Emily, his secretary.

Emily's slender figure was draped in a crisp, ivory blouse and a tailored black skirt that fell just above her knees. Her dark hair was pulled back into a neat, low bun, revealing a smattering of light freckles across her heart-shaped face. Her eyes, a deep shade of brown, were fringed with thick lashes that cast a subtle shadow on her cheeks. A faint dusting of powder softened her features, and a pale pink lip gloss added a touch of subtle color to her mouth.

Her hands, small and delicate, were holding up some files in one hand as she stood far from her boss whose back was still turned against her. A simple silver watch encircled her left wrist, and a pair of classic pearl earrings adorned her lobes, lending an air of understated elegance to her overall appearance.

As she moved, her skirt fell in soft folds around her legs, and her blouse rustled softly, releasing a whisper of fabric and perfume into the air. Her presence was unobtrusive, yet quietly confident, like a subtle melody that hummed in the background.

While she pushed open the heavy wooden door when coming in, a faint tremble ran through her fingers, like the quiet hum of a harp string. Emily's eyes darted around the room, avoiding the imposing figure behind the desk, as if seeking an escape route. Her gaze lingered on the polished leather chair, the precise rows of papers, and the gleaming pen holder, before finally coming to rest on the floor.

With a deep breath, she stepped forward, her heels clicking softly on the carpet. ''Mr. Campbell, your meeting with marketing is in fifteen minutes,'' she said, her voice barely above a whisper. The words felt like a tiny bird taking flight from her lips, vulnerable to the whims of the wind.

As she waited for his response, her hands clasped together behind her back, knuckles white with tension. Her eyes remained downcast, fixed on the intricate pattern of the rug, as if mesmerized by its swirling threads. The air seemed to thicken, heavy with unspoken expectations, as she stood there, poised on the threshold, awaiting his acknowledgment.

" Alright," He said and then waved his index and middle fingers signalling her to leave but she only moved forward and stretched forward the files in her hands. " And What might that be?" He turned around and then sat on his seat behind his desk. He finally looked into her eyes. " It is the meeting minutes." She still held unto the files forwarding it to him.

He told her to drop it on the desk and she complied. Emily kept her face straight towards her boss whose gaze was already fixed on the files handed to him. He flipped through the pages and then rubbed on his chin softly, making some sound.

" I gat it already, you can head back now." He dropped the file on the table and then Emily bowed slightly and then went away. Her hips swung as she left but then she was called back. She stopped and turned around immediately.

"As she waited, he finished typing on his computer, then leaned back in his chair, his eyes locking onto hers. 'You know, Emily, I don't think I've ever seen you wear your hair down before,' he said, his voice low and smooth. 'It suits you.'

Emily's cheeks flushed as she self-consciously tucked a strand behind her ear. 'Thank you, Mr. Johnson,' she replied, trying to sound professional despite the flutter in her chest.

He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. ''Please, call me Lucas. We're alone in here, after all.'' He stood up, walking around his desk to lean against the edge, his proximity making her heart race. ''So, what do you like to do on your days off, Emily?'' he asked, his interest genuine.

As they chatted, Emily found herself relaxing in his presence, laughing at his jokes and feeling a connection she couldn't ignore. When he finally dismissed her, she left his office with a sense of excitement, wondering if maybe, just maybe, her boss felt the same spark she did.

Mia and Luna couldn't comprehend what they saw and so they couldn't devise a plan still school was over. Mia had gone home with a heavy fright in heart and could barely get a wink of sleep at night.

Everytime she tried she would have a terrible nightmare and then jolt up awake. Soon It was morning and another day for school. It was Wednesday and so far it looks jinxed already. She got ready for school and this time took her time in getting ready. She got into the car and then got a call from her phone.

She was filled with anger when she saw it was her mother. She felt resistant at first to pick it up and when she called again she finally picked it up. " What is it this time?" She asked with calm voice. It was already bad enough that she was being threatened by some unknown stranger now she got to speak to her mother against her wish...
