章 1: Chapter 1. Mortal End

Michaelis cowered in the alley, his eyes fixed on the machine's cold, metal body. Its laser eyes had already taken his parents, leaving their lifeless bodies in the street. Now, it had come for him and his sister, Sarah.

"Please, don't hurt us!" Michaelis begged, his voice shaking as he clutched Sarah's hand. "We won't resist, just spare us!"

The machine didn't respond, its gaze fixed on them with an unblinking stare. Sarah trembled beside him, her eyes wide with fear.

"Michaelis, I'm scared," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Michaelis tried to sound brave, but his voice cracked. "I won't let it hurt you, Sarah. I promise."

The machine took a step closer, its metal feet scraping against the pavement. Michaelis and Sarah backed away, but their feet felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot.

"Stop!" Michaelis pleaded, holding up his hands. "We're just children! We can't harm you!"

The machine halted, its laser eyes flicking between them. For a moment, Michaelis dared to hope it would spare them. But then, it spoke in a cold, detached voice.

"Target acquired. Eliminating threat."

With a swift motion, it snatched Sarah from Michaelis' grasp, dragging her screaming into the darkness. Michaelis gave chase, but the machine's grip was unyielding. He watched in horror as it..

Michaelis sprinted after the machine, his feet pounding the pavement. "Sarah! No! Come back!" he yelled, but the machine didn't slow down.

As he ran, the alleys seemed to blur together, a maze of darkness and despair. Michaelis' breath came in ragged gasps, his heart racing with fear.

The machine suddenly stopped in front of a dilapidated building, its door hanging crookedly from hinges. It dragged Sarah inside, Michaelis close behind.

"Let her go!" Michaelis demanded, his voice echoing off the walls. "She's just a child!"

The machine turned to face him, its laser eyes blazing with an otherworldly intensity. "You are both targets," it stated, its voice devoid of emotion. "You will be eliminated."

Sarah struggled in the machine's grasp, her eyes wide with terror. "Michaelis, help me!"

Michaelis charged at the machine, but it was too strong. It tossed him aside like a rag doll, sending him crashing into the wall.

As he struggled to stand, the machine raised its foot, ready to deliver the final blow. Michaelis saw his sister's face, her eyes pleading for help.

"NOOO!" he screamed, but his cry was cut short.

The machine's foot came down, and everything went black.

Michaelis' world went dark, his body crumpling to the ground. He was vaguely aware of Sarah's screams, the machine's cold voice, and the sound of footsteps echoing through the abandoned building.

As his vision faded, he saw a figure emerging from the shadows - a demon, its eyes glowing with malevolent intent.

"Ah, perfect timing," the demon said, its voice like a rusty gate. "The machine has done its job. Now, it's my turn."

The demon reached out a bony hand and grasped Sarah's wrist, pulling her close. Michaelis tried to move, but his body felt heavy, unresponsive.

"Please...don't hurt her," he whispered, his voice barely audible.

The demon cackled, its breath cold and rank. "You should have thought of that before you tried to resist. Now, she'll make a fine addition to our collection."

Sarah struggled and kicked, but the demon's grip was too strong. Michaelis watched in horror as the demon began to drag her away, her screams echoing through the darkness.

With a surge of adrenaline, Michaelis forced himself to move, his body screaming in protest. He crawled forward, his eyes fixed on the demon's retreating back.

"Sarah...no...come back!" he yelled, his voice hoarse from shouting.

The demon turned, its eyes flashing with anger. "You're still alive? How...inconvenient."

With a swift kick, the demon sent Michaelis crashing into the wall, his head spinning. As he struggled to stand, the demon vanished into the shadows, taking Sarah with it.

Michaelis stumbled forward, his heart heavy with despair. He had failed to protect his sister, and now she was gone.

Michaelis stumbled through the darkness, his eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of Sarah or the demon. He called out her name, but only the echoes replied.

As he turned a corner, he saw a faint light in the distance. He staggered towards it, his heart heavy with grief.

The light came from a small chapel, its windows shattered, its door hanging off hinges. Michaelis entered, his eyes adjusting to the dim light.

Inside, he saw a figure slumped against the altar - a priest, his eyes vacant, his body battered.

"Father?" Michaelis whispered, shaking the priest's shoulder.

The priest stirred, his eyes focusing on Michaelis. "Ah, child...I'm sorry...I couldn't save her..."

Michaelis' eyes welled up with tears. "Where did they take her? I have to find her!"

The priest coughed, his voice weak. "I don't know...but be warned, child...the demons will stop at nothing...they'll use her against you..."

Michaelis' grip on the priest's shoulder tightened. "I won't let that happen. I'll find her, no matter what."

The priest's eyes locked onto Michaelis', a fierce determination burning within them. "You must...you're the only one left...the only one who can stop them..."

With those final words, the priest's body went limp, his eyes frozen in a permanent stare.

Michaelis held the priest's body, tears streaming down his face. He had lost everyone - his parents, his sister, and now the priest.

But in that moment, something inside him shifted. A spark of determination ignited, fueling his resolve to find Sarah and take down the demons.

As Michaelis held the priest's lifeless body, he heard the sound of metal scraping against stone. The machine had found him.

With a surge of adrenaline, Michaelis sprang to his feet, his eyes scanning the chapel for a weapon. He spotted a broken pew and grabbed a wooden plank, ready to face the machine.

The machine entered the chapel, its laser eyes fixed on Michaelis. "Target acquired," it stated, its voice devoid of emotion.

Michaelis charged at the machine, the wooden plank raised high. "You'll never take me alive!" he yelled, swinging the plank with all his might.

The machine raised its arm, deflecting the blow with ease. "You are no match for me," it said, its voice cold and detached.

Michaelis stumbled back, his eyes darting around the chapel for another weapon. He spotted a candelabra and grabbed it, hurling it at the machine.

The machine dodged the candelabra, its laser eyes flashing with intensity. "You are a foolish human," it said, its voice dripping with contempt.

With a swift motion, the machine struck Michaelis with its metal fist, sending him crashing to the ground. As Michaelis struggled to stand, the machine raised its foot, ready to deliver the final blow.

"No...please..." Michaelis whispered, his eyes locked on the machine's cold, metal body.

The machine's foot came down, and Michaelis felt his life slipping away. As he lay there, he thought of Sarah, the priest, and his parents. He thought of the life he would never live, the vengeance he would never exact.

With his final breath, Michaelis whispered, "I'll come back...I'll make you pay..."

The machine stood over him, its laser eyes flashing with triumph. "You will not come back," it stated, its voice devoid of emotion.

And with that, Michaelis' world went black.
