章 10: Chapter 10 - General

Traveling on the muddy ground, not stepping the soil but rocks and tree roots, ignoring the weak level beasts he saw on the way, and after traveling for several minutes, he found prey.

A 60ft snake blending well between the leaves and branches. It has sharp fangs and a horn on its head. People called it Woodlike Anaconda. It would be hard to notice if not for his sharp senses.

It could perfectly imitate a branch, remaining immobile for weeks to catch prey. Its main food was the insect beasts living atop the trees and some mammal beasts such as Bristleback Monkey, Hookclawed Sloth, Bighead Koala, Leaf Lemur, etc.

Standing on the nearby branch, Reid observed the behavior of Woodlike Anaconda and he could not see even a slight movement. From the outer appearance, it was not different from the other branches. This was the second time he encountered uncertainty.

While he was sure that if the Woodlike Anaconda attacks him, he would be able to dodge the attack without easily, but the feeling of not knowing that there was an ambush made him uncomfortable.

"...Looks like relying on sharp senses is not enough anymore." Reid muttered as he opened the Dimensional Store and look for an ability that he could use to detect things around him while remaining unnoticed.

After searching for a moment, he found an interesting ability called Root Plane Feedback. An ability that allowed the user to release an unnoticeable pulse from all direction, and feedback all information of whatever it touched.

The information collected would be stored in the archive within the Knowledge Sea and could be efficiently viewed at any time. While the range of detection can be designated, the speed of collection depends on the Spirit, and the larger space the longer the time needed for information collection.

Root Plane Feedback affects the Information Plane that was only visible to those that have a connection to it. And such beings were only a handful, even gods were no exception. It could also be used to see if he was being monitored. Thus, Reid would be able to use it with confidence.

For now, he needed to earn more Dimensional Point as it was not within his reach yet. Root Plane Feedback cost 100 million DP, while he barely has half a hundred million. And for Root Plane Feedback, he could only cause a massacre.

Wasting no time, Reid took out the +1 Soul Eater Sword and attacked the Woodlike Anaconda. With a wave of his hand, water converged into several pressurized highspeed revolving spheres, making the water spheres denser and giving them stronger penetration capability.

He could easily conjure many of them due to his Mental Imaging Skill. Reid called this attack Torrent Rain, for the water spheres would explode into the torrential water vortex once they hit a target, resulting in devastating damage.

As all beasts have a strong sense of danger, the Woodlike Anaconda immediately moved as it felt a life-threatening danger coming. It slithered and wiggled around dodging the rain. The layer of wood that covered it shattered as the water spheres hit it, revealing an armorlike scales. From the metallic sheen, one could infer how strong its scales were.

Every time a water sphere hit, a 'dang!' sound was made, representing how strong the Woodlike Anaconda`s defense was. While it seemed unscathed, the force each water spheres carried mushed its muscles inside, bypassing the strong defense of the scales. Thus, damaging it severely.

HHIIISSS!!! SHAA!!!!

The Woodlike Anaconda hissed loudly in anger as it felt pain for the first time in its life. Being a Gold-level predator within the Black Mud Marsh, the only thing it feared was the high-level beasts that rarely appeared as they always remain in their territories that have abundant food.

Severely injured inside, the Woodlike Anaconda fled very fast. It jumped into the quicksand below and dove down, but how could Reid let it leave? Using attractive force, Reid pulled the several hundred tons Woodlike Anaconda out of the quicksand and bound it on a tree branch.

It struggled and thrashed around, thus Reid increased the gravity around it, immobilizing it. Then, he slashed down with the Soul Eater Sword and cut off its head in half, and took out the gold-colored Beast Core in the brain.

Ding!

[Soul Eater Ability activated! The Host absorbed the 2% of the target's power! +2156 Physique, +1982 Spirit!]

Feeling some kind of gentle power coursing through his body after the kill, Reid dismissed the notification and moved onwards. With his current Stats, Gold-level Beast could no longer satisfy him. Thus, he focused his attention on Diamond-level Beasts.

Beasts evolved into a stronger life form. From a small mouse into a mouse that was as huge as a hill and after a beast reached Diamond-level, they would no longer increase in size, but develop an ability and open up their wisdom.

Diamond-level was the threshold for beings to truly become Extraordinary, both for humans and beasts. And when a beast breakthrough to Diamond-level, simply eating meat would no longer be enough for them to become stronger.

They needed to cultivate, the same as humans, which was why Diamond-level beasts settle on one place where food was abundant.

A place where they could cultivate silently. But even if wisdom was opened up, their bestial instinct remained. Thus, they would never compromise to those weaker than them. After all, the world of beasts speaks with strength.

Wandering for several hours, Reid hunted 50 Gold-level Beasts he encountered, increased his Physique by 250,000, Spirit by 150,000, and earned 2,500,000 DP.

Looking ahead, Reid heard an earth-shattering roar, followed by explosions and thunderclaps.

A great battle was unfolding before him, a Diamond-level Tier 3 Wrathful Thunder Lion and a group of Gold-level Hunters.

Bathed in blue lightning, the Wrathful Thunder Lion roared and rushed towards the hunters. With claws and fang clothed with lightning, every attack carried penetrating burning and paralyzing effects that could severely injure and immobilized a target with flesh and blood.

Two men stepped forward among the group of hunters. The two of them were both at Diamond-level Rank 3, while the other three and seven people were at Gold-level and Silver-level. They were all part of the Azure Dragon Guild.

A guild with half a million members, with their Guild Master standing at the top as a Mithril-level, a one-man army.

A respectable being amongst humans as a Mithril-level was equivalent to a nuke that could destroy a country in one push of a button.

Which was why, all Mithril-level Hunters were named, General. For a General alone was equivalent to a country. And because of a General`s destructive power, and difficulty of reaching such strength, a General could not be dispatched casually.

Beasts were innately far superior to a human in terms of the physical body. Thus, 2 Diamond-level humans of the same Tier against a Diamond-level beast of the same Tier was a normal procedure during a hunt.

Officially, the level of power was divided into 9 levels and sub-divided to Tier 1 to Tier 9.

It started at Stone-level, a human with 5 Physique.

After Stone-level was Iron-level with 50 Physique. Then, Bronze-level with 500 Physique. Silver-level with 5,000 Physique. Gold-level with 50,000 Physique. Diamond-level starts at 500,000 Physique.

For Adamantium-level 5 million Physique, Mithril-level starts at 50 million Physique. And lastly, for Obsidian, it started at 500 million Physique.
