章 20: Chapter 20: Making Things Right

Jake sat on his porch, his chair balanced on two legs. Ankles crossed, his feet rested on the railing. He took a sip of his beer and reviewed his weekend.

Death, car accident, then a confrontation with Chelsea. All in a day’s work, as they say. The scene at the car accident made him determined to make things right with Chelsea. But how?

She didn’t like the sight of him. Or was that for show? Chelsea sometimes put up a good front when she wanted to hide her real feelings. She’d clung to him or had she not been able to get free of his grip.

He’d have to confront her and she never liked being cornered. What to do? He recrossed his ankles the other way and scratched at his chest. Teenagers performed a mating dance across the street as Tim’s car pulled into the driveway.
