章 6: Chapter 6: Is That Little Red Riding Hood Outside?
"I still prefer that rebellious look you had just now."
Rod slowly walked up to the werewolf, towering over the creature that was barely clinging to life.
The werewolf's regenerative abilities were strong. According to the rules of fiction, only silver weapons or items blessed by holy water could kill a werewolf. He had just proven this.
The damage inflicted by his revolver was healed in no time once the werewolf transformed. Injuries that would be fatal to ordinary people had little effect on the creature.
However, it was clear that even its healing ability had its limits. After taking a shotgun blast at close range, half of its body was reduced to pulp. Not even the strongest regeneration could save its life now.
"Sacrificing you should yield some decent rewards," Rod muttered as he crouched down, staring coldly at the terrified werewolf.
He placed his hand on the werewolf's head.
Sacrifice!
A light shone from Rod's palm, and the pain on the werewolf's face vanished as its flesh and soul dissolved into nothingness.
Once the sacrifice was complete, Rod's face showed a hint of anticipation.
"I wonder what kind of feedback I'll get this time."
When he had sacrificed the Belgian Blue cow earlier, his strength and physique had skyrocketed. This time, he had sacrificed a werewolf—a mythical creature. Surely, the result wouldn't be worse than a cow, right?
As Rod mused over this, he suddenly felt his body start to itch. Looking down at his hands, he saw thick, grayish-black hair sprouting from his pores. The coarse hair was as tough as steel needles.
Next, his bones began to twist and reshape, becoming thicker and stronger. His fingernails grew at an alarming rate, turning sharp and claw-like.
Rip!
His swelling muscles tore his clothes apart, and the overwhelming surge of power roared inside him like a furious storm.
It felt as if his body was on the verge of being torn apart by this immense power. But soon, the pain subsided, and his body adapted.
In its place was an uncontrollable, primal rage, a feral power desperate to be unleashed.
"Awooo!"
Rod howled into the sky, feeling that only by doing so could he release the bloodthirsty, savage beast within him.
"So, the feedback this time is the werewolf's bloodline?"
Rod shook his head and looked up at the moon. What once seemed like a regular moon now appeared to radiate a strange power, making his thoughts more bloodthirsty and violent.
Still, the influence wasn't enough to make him completely lose control.
Rod gradually grew accustomed to his werewolf form. After merging with the werewolf bloodline, his strength and physique had doubled compared to his normal state. His speed and explosive power had also increased significantly.
In addition, he had inherited the werewolf's extraordinary healing abilities. As long as the damage wasn't fatal, even the most serious injuries could heal quickly.
In essence, he now possessed all the powers of an ordinary werewolf—but stronger. His base physical strength was already far superior to a regular human, so his transformed state also far exceeded that of a typical werewolf.
Rod suppressed the violent and bloodthirsty urges within him, and the thick fur covering his body began to recede, returning him to his normal human form.
The werewolf transformation wasn't uncontrollable, but suppressing the primal urges required strong willpower.
"Not a bad ability, but it's rough on clothes."
Rod pulled a fresh outfit from his personal space and put it on.
During the transformation, his body grew larger as his strength increased, and if the clothes weren't tough enough, they'd be torn apart. The clothes he had been wearing were now nothing more than rags.
Thankfully, he had prepared extra clothes in advance. Otherwise, he would have had to walk around naked.
After changing into new clothes, Rod sat by the campfire, deep in thought.
It was clear now that this world wasn't as simple as he had imagined. He had barely arrived and had already encountered a dangerous, mythical creature like a werewolf. Who knew what other terrifying beings might exist in this world?
However, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
The greater the danger, the greater the reward. High risks often meant high returns.
In a way, that was good news.
Rod reloaded his revolver, making sure he was fully prepared, and continued exploring.
Since there were werewolves living here, it stood to reason that there must be a human village nearby. Otherwise, these werewolves would have starved long ago.
It was simple logic.
After walking for about half an hour, he spotted a faint light in the distance.
As he got closer, he realized the light was coming from a small, simple wooden cabin.
"Is that you, Little Red Riding Hood?" a frail, elderly voice called out as he approached the cabin.
Little Red Riding Hood?
Rod blinked, puzzled. What was this? Was he supposed to be the Big Bad Wolf now?
After a brief pause, Rod calmly replied, "I'm just a traveler who's lost his way. It's getting dark, and I'm looking for a place to rest for the night."
"A traveler?"
The sound of slow, shuffling footsteps came from inside. The door creaked open a crack.
Through the narrow gap, a pair of amber eyes peered out from the cabin.
In the moonlight, the elderly woman inside could make out the silhouette of a strong young man standing at her door.
Her eyes lit up, and she opened the door wide with a warm smile.
"Come on in, young man!"
Rod saw the kind expression on the old woman's face and felt his guard lower slightly.
"Thank you for your hospitality!" he said as he stepped inside.
