"Strange?"
"Of course it's strange!"
The magic in Rod's pupils slowly dissipated.
Just now, he noticed that the woman seemed a little panicked, so he used a basic calming spell to ease Tasha's emotions.
Looking at Tasha's expectant face, Rod felt a bit awkward.
It's not that he was unwilling to let the mother and daughter stay.
He was a man, and he didn't have to worry about being forcibly pinned down by the woman next door.
Even in the worst-case scenario, if that actually happened, he wouldn't be the one suffering a loss.
It was something he could help with, so he might as well help.
The problem now was that his place wasn't that big. Besides his own bedroom, there wasn't even a bed in the other rooms.
How could three people possibly stay here?
If he agreed, he'd probably end up sleeping on the couch.
If he didn't agree, it would seem a bit heartless.
Should he run into the city now to buy another bed?
Looking at the sky that was gradually darkening, it seemed a bit too late for that.
What was this woman thinking?
Staying at his place wasn't as good as getting a nice hotel room in the city for a few days.
"You can stay at my place, but you can't stay forever, right?" Rod said slowly.
He didn't really mind if Tasha stayed forever.
After all, it was just a few more mouths to feed, and he could manage that.
Just imagine waking up every morning and seeing a beautiful woman—what a blissful life that would be.
But her husband might not agree.
If Tasha's husband came back and saw his wife living at another man's house, wouldn't his head turn green with jealousy?
This kind of unnecessary misunderstanding was best avoided.
After all, he wasn't actually having an affair with Tasha.
You take responsibility for what you do, and he wasn't about to take the blame for something he didn't do.
"So, what should I do?" Tasha, feeling lost, was a bit confused after hearing Rod's response.
Should she go back to that haunted villa?
Though she had spent a lot of money when she initially bought the property, money wasn't worth much when her life was at risk.
Maybe she should just move?
A thought flashed through Tasha's mind, and she felt a bit tempted.
She had never liked the house much; it was her husband who had insisted on buying the villa without consulting her.
If her husband saw the ghost, he'd probably agree to move too.
But knowing her husband, if he didn't see the ghost with his own eyes, he wouldn't believe it.
Even she wouldn't have believed in ghosts if she hadn't seen one herself.
But to see the ghost, she'd have to enter the villa.
And once she entered, could she still leave?
It was a vicious cycle.
"I'll go back with you and get rid of the ghost in the villa," Rod said, seeing the conflicted look on Tasha's face.
After all, ghosts were good energy sources for him, and he didn't mind doing a good deed in the process.
Neighbors helping neighbors—it was normal.
"Really? It won't be dangerous, right?"
Tasha was moved by his words. After all, she had put a lot of time and effort into decorating the house.
If she moved out and had to sell the villa, who knew if she could even sell it? Plus, decorating a new place would be another big expense.
She and her husband were planning to have a baby soon, and they didn't have enough savings to splurge like that.
So, if the ghost could be dealt with, she certainly wouldn't want to move.
"Other people, I can't say, but as long as I'm there, I can guarantee you won't be in danger."
"To be honest, my family has been exorcists for the emperor in the Dragon Kingdom for 18 generations. Ghost hunting is my specialty."
Rod smiled confidently.
That confident smile immediately reassured Tasha.
Thinking back to how it was Rod who had given her the protective charm that saved her, she started to believe him more.
Exorcists for the Dragon Kingdom's emperor—it sounded impressive.
But hadn't she heard that Rod's parents had died when he was very young?
So he must have been an exorcist since he was very little?
Rod didn't know what she was thinking. Seeing that Tasha was impressed by the identity he had casually made up, he immediately led the two of them back to the villa.
As soon as they opened the door, a cold chill hit them.
Rod rubbed his arms, feeling goosebumps, his expression becoming serious.
It wasn't his imagination—this place was indeed filled with a stronger presence of ghost energy, and it had increased by more than double.
Something was wrong!
Ghosts don't become stronger easily; it usually takes years for them to grow.
But how much time had passed since he was last here?
The ghost energy in the villa had increased so much in such a short time.
It didn't make sense.
So something must have happened in the villa.
"Has anything strange happened in the house recently?"
"Or have you done anything unusual?" Rod asked in a low voice as he glanced at the deep neckline of Tasha's dress, feeling her gripping his sleeve tightly out of fear.
"No!" Tasha thought for a moment, then nodded firmly.
During this time, her husband had been busy and hadn't been home much. When he did come home, he went straight to sleep.
As for her, she hadn't done anything unusual besides her daily routine.
Other than the sudden appearance of the ghost, life had been normal.
So she was sure.
That was strange.
Rod frowned. Even ghosts don't change without a reason.
Something must have triggered this in the villa.
Then Rod suddenly froze, thinking of a possible event that might be happening soon.
