After I was sure that Lycia was asleep, I quickly showered, dressed in jeans and a button-down shirt, and headed downstairs, knowing that my father would be waiting.

Outside our suite, I texted Marshall as I headed down the stairs. ‘I’m on my way now. Meet me there.’

‘Who died and left you boss?’ he texted back a second later, telling me that he had been awaiting my text.

‘That was a bad joke.’

There was a pause and then he texted, 'Oh, come on! Lighten up! Father's over two hundred years old, and he still has a good few hundred more years left before you become boss.'

I sighed, shaking my head as I stepped onto the first floor, and Marshall was waiting for me in the lobby.

“Thank God you’re here.” I headed toward Father’s office, knowing Marshall would follow. He had followed me into more battles than either of us could count. Why would now be any different? “Let’s see what Father has in mind for Shane.”

“With pleasure,” Marshall said beside me, a smile on his lips.
