章 36: Chapter 36: Easy Winning

Mei woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She stretched her arms and yawned, thinking about the fun she had with Liu the day before. She decided to go to his room to see if he was awake yet, and maybe even suggest going out for breakfast together.

As she approached his room, she noticed that the door was slightly ajar. She pushed it open slowly, calling out his name. "Liu? Are you awake?"

But as she entered the room, she was met with a sight that made her heart skip a beat. Liu was lying on his bed, shirtless, with his muscular chest and abs on full display. Mei's eyes widened in shock, and she felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her.

She quickly turned away, her face burning with blushes. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, trying to compose herself.

But it was too late. Liu had already seen her, and he let out a chuckle. "Hey, Mei, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

Mei's face grew even redder as she stuttered, "I-I just wanted to see if you were awake... I didn't mean to... Ahh!"

She quickly closed the door and leaned against it, her heart racing with embarrassment. She couldn't believe she had just walked in on Liu shirtless! She had never seen him like that before, and she didn't know how to process it.

Liu's laughter echoed from inside the room, making Mei's face grow even hotter. She knew she had to get out of there, fast. She took a deep breath and made a run for her own room, slamming the door shut behind her.

As she leaned against the door, trying to catch her breath, she couldn't help but giggle at the absurdity of the situation. Who would have thought that a simple morning greeting could turn into such a hilarious mishap?

"Liu, I'm so sorry!" Mei exclaimed, her face still flushed with embarrassment.

Liu chuckled. "It's okay, Mei. I'm not going to bite. Well, not unless you want me to, that is."

Mei's face grew even redder as she playfully hit him with a pillow. "Liu, stop it! You're making it worse!"

Liu laughed and held up his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay. I'll behave. But seriously, Mei, it's okay. I know you didn't mean to walk in on me like that."

Mei nodded, still looking a bit flustered. "I know, I just... I wasn't expecting it, that's all."

Liu grinned mischievously. "Well, maybe next time you can expect it. And maybe next time, you can even join me."

Mei's face went bright red again as she quickly changed the subject. "So, what do you want to do today?"

Liu shrugged. "I don't know. What do you want to do?"

Mei thought for a moment. "Well, I was thinking we could go to the park. It's a nice day out."

Liu nodded. "Sounds good to me. Let's go."

As they walked to the park, Mei couldn't help but steal glances at Liu, who was walking beside her with a smirk on his face. She knew she had to get used to this new side of him, but it was definitely taking some getting used to.

"Ah, perfect timing!" Liu exclaimed, answering the call from Jenkins. "We were just enjoying a leisurely walk in the park."

"Enjoy it while it lasts, hunters," Jenkins said, his voice serious. "I've secured another dimension gate for you to clear. But this one's different. It's A-Rank."

Mei's eyes widened in surprise. "A-Rank?"

Jenkins nodded, his expression grim. "Yes, it is. This gate is emitting extremely dangerous energy levels. I need you two to be careful."

Liu's grin returned. "Don't worry, Jenkins. We've got this. When do we start?"

"Meet me at the gate location in two hours," Jenkins instructed. "And hunters? Be prepared for anything."

With that, the call ended, and Liu turned to Mei with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Looks like our relaxing day just got a lot more interesting."

"Alright, let's gear up and get moving," Liu said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "We've got an A-Rank gate to clear, and I'm not going to let it get the best of me."

Mei nodded, her expression focused. "Let's do this. We've cleared an S-Rank gate before, so an A-Rank should be a breeze."

As they arrived at the gate location, Jenkins was already there, his expression serious. "Remember, hunters, this gate may be below an S-Rank, but it's still extremely dangerous. Stay sharp and work together."

Liu and Mei nodded, their weapons at the ready. With a deep breath, they stepped through the gate and into the unknown.

On the other side, they found themselves in a desolate wasteland, the air thick with toxic fumes. Mei coughed, covering her mouth. "This is nasty. Let's get moving and find the boss of this gate."

Liu scanned their surroundings, his eyes narrowing. "I see something in the distance. Let's go."

As they approached the source, a horde of twisted creatures emerged from the shadows, their eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy. Liu and Mei exchanged a look, their battle instincts kicking in.

"Let's do this," Liu said, charging forward with his sword flashing in the dim light.

Mei followed close behind, her magic blazing with fierce intensity. Together, they plunged into the fray, their bond and skills honed to perfection.

As they cut through the horde of creatures, Liu and Mei's movements were swift and synchronized, their weapons slicing through the air with deadly precision. The creatures were no match for their skills, and soon they had cleared a path to the heart of the dimension.

Before them stood the boss, a towering monstrosity with scales as black as coal and eyes that glowed like embers. It roared, its voice like thunder, and swung its massive claws at the hunters.

Liu dodged the attack with ease, his sword flashing in the dim light. Mei followed suit, her magic blasting the boss with a burst of energy. The creature stumbled back, its scales crackling with energy.

"It's a Wyrm of the Abyss," Mei said, her eyes locked on the boss. "We need to take it down fast before it summons more minions."

Liu nodded, his sword slicing through the air. "Let's do this."

Together, they launched a fierce assault on the Wyrm, their weapons and magic working in perfect harmony. The battle was intense, but Liu and Mei were a well-oiled machine, their bond and skills honed to perfection.

In no time at all, the Wyrm lay defeated, its body crumbling to dust. Liu and Mei stood victorious, their chests heaving with exhaustion.

"That was too easy," Liu said, grinning at Mei.

Mei smiled back, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Wait, Mei! I almost forgot," Liu said, turning back to the battlefield. "Let's grab those crystals we saw on our way in. They might be useful."

Mei nodded, following Liu as he walked back to the spot where they had seen the crystals. They were still there, glinting in the dim light.

Liu picked up a few of the crystals, examining them closely. "These are high-quality crystals. We can use them to upgrade our gear or sell them for a good price."

Mei smiled, tucking a few crystals into her pouch. "Always thinking ahead, Liu."

With their crystals in hand, they left the dimension, ready to take on their next challenge. As they stepped out of the gate, Jenkins was waiting for them, a look of approval on his face.

"Well done, hunters! You cleared the dimension in record time. You're really making a name for yourselves."

Liu grinned, pocketing the crystals. "Thanks, Jenkins. We make a good team."

Mei nodded in agreement. "Let's keep it up. We've got more dimensions to clear and more adventures to be had."

"Thanks, Jenkins," Mei said, smiling. "We're going to head home now. It's been a long day."

"Ah, good idea," Jenkins replied, nodding. "You two deserve a break. I'll see you later, hunters. Keep up the good work!"

Liu and Mei waved goodbye to Jenkins and set off towards home, walking side by side in comfortable silence. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the city.

As they strolled, Mei turned to Liu with a mischievous grin. "You know, I was thinking... maybe we should try a new restaurant for dinner tonight. That new place that just opened up downtown."

Liu raised an eyebrow. "You mean the one with the spicy food? I'm game if you are!"

Mei nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, that's the one! I've been craving something spicy all day."

Liu chuckled. "Well, let's go for it then. But if your mouth is on fire, don't say I didn't warn you!"

Mei playfully rolled her eyes. "I can handle it, Liu. I'm not a fragile flower, you know!"

Liu grinned. "Oh, I know that all too well, Mei. You're a fierce hunter and a spicy food lover. I like that about you."

Mei blushed, looking away with a smile. "Shut up, Liu."

A

s they continued walking, their banter and laughter filled the air, enjoying each other's company and the warm evening breeze.
